Father's Day is a ripoff... on Mother's Day, the mom gets all kinds of expensive gifts and gets pampered like crazy. On Father's Day all the dad gets is a fancy tie and a kiss.

I don't really give my Mom anything expensive. She doesn't have expensive tastes. And i pretty much treat both my parents equally. I give them things I know they'll like.
And they're both generally happy just to be remembered ^^

That doesn't happen around my house, it's the dad who gets the expensive gifts, but that's ok, I don't need gifts. The only gift I need is a phone call or a card to let me know that they're thinking of me and that they love me.

I am my Beloved'sI think it is easier to buy for the mom than it is for the dad. There are so many cool gifts that women will like but only a few choices...like those weird miniature pool sets for example...that they have out for men...even at Christmas. and my Beloved is mine

Our Father's Day is kind of ruined because my DH is an avid golfer, and the USGA hold the US Open that weekend. With the final round usually on Father's Day all he wants is for us to leave him alone in front of the TV all day. Finally after 5 years of fighting it I decided we'd celebrate on Friday instead. Turned out OK, so I think that's going to be our tradition from now on.

Ah, insomnia, my old friend. How I know thee well. Can't sleep at all, so here I am. Funny how I feel like watching old fantasy movies. Those were the good ol' days when movies actually had a story in them. Anyone remember that?

Michael Jackson's dead but I wasn't a fan of his music or behavior. Also the man blew through more money than most of us see in a lifetime.

I remember the movies... and hear ya on the insomnia ~ wishes they would play some of those old movies - it'd be better than tossing around in bed all night staring at the clock ticking away. gonk

Farrah Fawcett died same day Michael Jackson did but hardly hear anyone mention her death at all.Everybody making huge deal about his.I don't mean to be rude but I don't see why his should be a big deal and hers like nothing. I mentioned it to somebody the other day and they were like whos she? I was like :O seriously?! Then other people tell me its just cause younger generation doesn't know Farrah. I was like hello I'm part of same generation and I know her. anyways sorry for rant or if it upset anyone I just don't see why one should get a big to do and the other like nothing.

I think it's mostly over the face we found him to be so weird and kinda relief that the circus surrounding his life will be done soon and we'll focus on something else

I was a little upset, too that the morning headlines were about Farrah, and now it's been nothing but Michael. She deserves more attention! How many guys grew up with her pinned up on their wall!?
