He might have stalled just a little on his way back to the spot where he'd made his plague, the humbug cradled in his arms like a deformed, chitinous foal. Mmur didn't want to hurt it, but all it took was a little creative thought to imagine the hunters suffering because of something he had done to make what was to come that much easier to stomach. Fighting them one-on-one had been rather humbling, so the promise of actual results far outweighed one minipet's comfort.
The horseman reached his station and moved to set his bug down when it awoke and immediately launched into a squirming fit. Luckily, it was on its back and easy to subdue, and before he could count to thirty, the creature was still. Its peace was not to last.
As he applied the mixture it awoke again, scratching at its eyes with fevered twitches it seemed unable to control. It was seeping blood and viscous green mucus so enthusiastically that it almost seemed anticlimactic. If they were going to use this on hunters, the effects would need to be slowed a bit.
Quote: 6. The one moment you turn your attention away, the minipet gives a loud shriek and breaks from its restraints, eager to destroy everything in its path. You have to quickly catch, powder, and restrain it again before its blind rampage disrupts someone else. 3. The minipet's eyes and nose (or analogous parts) begin to redden, and it struggles to pick at them with a hoarse cry. Mucous begins to slowly drip out as it fights for breath. 1. The pollen seeps into its blood and quickly dries it out. The muscles around the area begin to twitch as it swells with irritation. Its breaths become more labored while its heart (or equivalent to it) beats furiously.

As much as he enjoyed Nergui's company -- and he thought he had something he had planned to tell her, even, though it slipped his mind now -- the prospect of being sent out of the laboratory to do something active definitely made Ollie's ears perk, got him up out of his chair in a second, with one brief tug on her hand to let her know he was going.
A trip through a portal through to a plush landscape was everything he wanted and more. The second the Elder stopped talking he took off like a light, disappearing into the underbrush and going near silent as he hunted for prey.
There was a flash of color to one side, pink and white, a black face peering out at him, and Ollie whirled immediately with weapon in hand to go after the Toxic Haztreat as soon as he spotted it. But it, in turn, saw him and fled in the opposite direction.
Silence was abandoned as he pelted off after it.

The mini was tired, though, and Ollie was not. He regained his ground, stretching short legs out into a longer stride, and all at once he pounced the creature. They weren't meant to hurt the things, and he didn't even want to hurt it, really. Instead he held it down, rubbing the powder over its skin until it went limp in his arms and, cradled like that, he was able to bring it back through the portal.
He paused on the threshold, vaguely wishing he'd let this one go and chased down another, instead. It was more fun out here than in the lab. But then he went through.

At the workstation, first Ollie took a moment to consider the sleeping creature on his work table, to steal glances around at the rest of his brethren and see just what they were doing. The truth was that he couldn't quite remember what happened next -- had been so focused on running around a bit that he'd missed the tail end of the instructions -- but as he watched them, he could see that some were binding, others dressing wounds --
He turned back to do that, but as he did, the minipet came to again: shrieking and wriggling free, to crash against table legs like a drunk thing. A glass beaker went over before he was on his feet, catching it easily by the scruff of its neck and rubbing it down with the powder again.
Now he worked more quickly: trussing up legs, binding them in carefully, his expression just vaguely apologetic. There was something brutal about this, and while a little brutality was necessary now and then, this felt...excessive. So when the creature's eyes opened, filled with an intense anger, it surprised him. It made him drop a length of rope and lean back. It let the creature wriggle over and almost to the end of the table before he subdued it again.
With a purpose, he rubbed spores into the slash at the tip of the creatures tail, cuts and scrapes along its right flank. It woke again, in the midst of it all, and Ollie frown down at it, softly telling it to shush. This time, it was too well bound to do much other than snap its teeth. In the end, he managed to complete the task, if not exactly well...

You have to quickly catch, powder, and restrain it again before its blind rampage disrupts someone else. 2. Midway into applying your mixture, the minipet snaps away and begins to thrash at its restraints with unnatural strength given its state. There isn't fear in its eyes, however; it's distinctly angry at you.

Xala stretched as she popped out of the portal. The area just around, she thought, the pickings would probably be slim, so she picked a random direction and went off into the hot, sticky leaves and swirls of insects. Bugs, at least, were familiar. But these weren't the hard, shiny carapaces of beetles and centipedes. Everything was brightly colored and stingy.
War's stuff, in other words. She wasn't sure why they were doing the hunting in War's territory, except the place always seemed to be dripping with adorable little predators.
There was a flash of white! There was one.
She crouched, clicking her tongue a little, "Come on, sugar cube. We need subjects- um. Dinner guests."
