I'm going back to good ol' futuristic mechanics.

Magic doesn't suck. You just have to know how to use it. Spells like the one you used, the one to have kittens and bunnies burst from your body, are so far off the natural laws that something bad is bound to happen. Now, if I were to make a fireball and throw it at someone, that's fine. If I were to turn a log into a bunny, with certain techniques that's fine. Making animals burst from your body is like making an original Gameboy play PS3 games. Something bad is bound to happen.
