ice_illusion I dont know what chav stands for. Maybe Cocky Hateful Arrogent Villians. (Sorry about my spelling) Ned stands for Non Educated Delinquent But what about Ned Flanders? Not exactly dead?

Not exactly dead? The neds have a website dedicated to them. It cant be changed now. Anyway it was a politicion that first used the phrase "officially". A long time ago too. Unfortuantly the neds have been around a very long time and may be older than the Simpsons. (Though Im not sure how old the Simpsons actually is) Ned Flanders was either ironicly named or the guy who invented him had never been to Glasgow.

You get chavs in every country. In Lux. I was on the bus and suddenly it lurched forward and I almost broke my nose on the bar in front of me but I saved myself and this buch of chavs thought it was hilarious so I just wrestled the lead of the group so that his face was about 5cm away from the bar and I threatned to whack his face against it. He mumbled somthing but I let him go. I shouldn't have. It would've been hand made surgery and he would've looked nicer.

Chav doesn't stand for anything and neither does Ned. the "meanings" grew after the words.
The words themselves sound nasty...it's like onomatopoia, but with personalities.

Yes, that's true. Wikipedia *bows down* says that it may come from a Greek word meaning "the masses" or something. Its standing for Council Housed And Violent is certainly a myth though.

We used to call them 'Kev's. The origins of that wasn't a mystery though. It was partly because it seems to be a very popular name among them, and partly in reference to Harry Enfield's character Kevin.
