for the ink washes you normaly want to choose a color that is a bit darker than the base coat of your models (you can always use the base coat color with just a bit of black). If you are ink washing metal use black as your ink.

Ive been painting for quite a while and this is the style i use:

1) find gatorade cap or one about that size.

2) next put a daub of your ink wash color inside

3) add water to the paint until the consistancy of the paint is water.

4) paint over your model focusing on the areas were the ink can reallly make your models look nice (anywere with grooves). if you want your model to have an overall darker feel wash the whole model

5) if the ink wash you are using is making your models to dark dip your brush in water and spread the ink around the surface of your model

6) if there is too much ink dry your brush off and start sucking some of the ink off with it.

7) when you are done inking let the model dry for a good 10-15 minutes before you touch it again it takes a while to dry properly.

hope i helped.

This is my first try at doing a glow. Word Bearer's Sorcerer, this one's coming from the plasma pistol. Seeing as I plan to work in green on my master (this was just a test) then I thought it'd be best to work with what I'd want.
It's actually pretty hard finding a good tutorial on this stuff, so if anyone has a link on how to do this, that'd be appreciated a lot.

Advice and (probably a lot of) criticisms please?

Actually on this look of it... it is excellent, however it is very dark for a glow. I can tell it is a glow becuase of the way you did it... but some more brightness to it might help.
This is an experiment model after all, so no worries ruining a section of it aye?

I agree maby you should pick out some of the closer edges with scorpion green to give it more depth.

I don't actually *have* any Scorpion Green, and spending that much for like 6 lines seems a tad expensive.

Actually I used Goblin Green, with some Golden Yellow, and then White until it looked good.
As much as this sounds like a cop out, the pic doeasn't show it, and I spent a good 10 minutes ******** about with my webcam.

okay, I just wanted to show a picture of my Crimson Firsts because they rock! So here is a vertran SGT from my army, he was was last model from my first squad so he isn't perfect, but i gave him battle wounds and i think he looks kinda cool.

and here is a picture of my dreadnought. this is my Boo ^_^it was a bit of a challenge because he is one of the old fully metal ones so he didn't have any of hte chest work or details so i had to go and put all that in ^_^ but he's cool,
