Dani listened to Pru as she told everybody her plan, and nodded quietly when she was paired up against Bethany. It was depressing to note there wasn't even enough players to fill out a Red and Gold Team for scrimmages, but that was the way things went. She also noted Rosabella's absence, but then the Seventh Year, and her older sister, Alex, had a tendency to oversleep the morning of tryouts, so she didn't put any stock in that.
After mounting her broom, Dani lightly touched off of the ground, allowing her mount to drift upwards toward a safe cruising height about the scrum of the Chasers competing for the Quaffle. 'Time to kick the tires, and light the fires,' Dani thought, as she waited for the balls to be released. 'Time to prove I belong here.'
She didn't envy Bethany's task one bit, given she was new to all this, but she also knew better than to assume anything. After all, in her first tryout she was competing against much older, experienced students before having even seen a game before. Bethany could surprise everyone and be the next Harry Potter.
When the Snitch was launched, Dani began her methodical search of the pitch for the nigh-invisible little ball.
