Joel did not envy the position that the new captain was in. Amata had asked him a lot of questions about the team before she made her decision, and he was really glad that she hadn't given it to him. As a result, he was hopeful that Pru would do a good job. He had to deal with a lot of other people not liking the decision, though. He hadn't said a word, and was thankful he could keep his mouth shut. If nothing else, if a fight erupted, he was going to say something. He'd had experience being in a sport before quidditch, and as a result, had quite a few things to say about some of the other players should they be annoyed. He didn't want to go that route, however, and grabbed a sheet from Pru and filled it out. "Hey, good luck Pru, you'll do fine, just remember to keep your cool and keep an eye on things. Umm, if you need help, I can help. It can't be worse than football tryouts, after all." Granted, this was a lot different than football, but he figured the same basic principals applied. Teamwork, hard work, good ball handling, he knew all of that stuff. He just had never played in a real game of quidditch. However, he had experience from football, so it helped.

Sure, he really didn't know what Quidditch was, but he could learn. After hopping through the grass to reach the big arena thing, he pushed open the gate and went inside. There were only a few people inside, but they were all people he'd seen around the Common Room. He didn't know their names, but he figured he'd be fine sitting to watch the tryouts. Calmly, he noted that all you had to do was sign a paper, probably saying you wouldn't sue. He sighed, then sat on a bench, his legs extended until he loosened his braces. With a grin, he fixed his hat and set his braces beside him, freeing his arms. Not that he really needed them. {OoC:} |

Celaena had almost not even shown up this year. This was a heartache for her. Mostly because she loved quidditch, but also... Her Julius wouldn't be there. Ever. He'd never see the Gryffindor's play. And it was Sapphire's fault... Of course Celaena knew it wasn't her older sister's fault, but it was easiest to blame the one who had saved her life instead of letting her try to save his... Of course right? It just happened that way. Celaena staggered slowly to the pitch. Pru had been made captain. Which was great! It was not her. It was not any of the others. And she had the best chance at making people work hard. Where as Celaena... Well the sixth year was just there at this point. She walked over, gave a small smile, and took the sign in sheet. She filled it out quickly, and handed it back. Ready to get this over with.

Pru surveyed the crowd that had formed. To her disappointment, only about eleven people had showed up, but she supposed it could have been far, far worse. At least this way she had four guaranteed reserves, unless anyone was spectacularly bad. She nodded mechanically as she accepted all the congratulations, mind already trying to decide how she was going to run this. She didn't even have a vice captain to help her out, and right now she had no idea in the slightest who to pick. She was going to have to cross that bridge when she came to it. She studiously avoided eye contact with Celaena, feeling a twist in her gut. Julius should have been the one standing in front of all of them, not her. "Thanks for coming, everyone," she began with, and then paused, unsure what exactly came next. "I know this..." she exhaled slowly. "I know this probably isn't ideal for anyone, but I want our team to have a good year, and I want to lead you lot to the best of my ability. So... right. Dante, I want you in one of the goals, so you can get a feel for what it's like to play keeper. Celaena, Arianna, Joel, I want you all up there going after the quaffle. One of you makes it to the goal, try to score on Dante. Dani, Bethany, you two will be looking for the snitch. Addie, Nina, William, Asteria... there's targets set up, bludger the hell out of them. I'm gonna fly around watching and taking notes." She tucked a clipboard under her arm, and released the snitch and bludgers before throwing up the quaffle.

With an eager grin on the boy's face, Dante hopped onto his broom and kicked up, darting towards three rings-on-sticks as he'd been instructed. This would be nice, a fun and friendly match between Gryffindor students. With a firm grip on his broom, Dante scanned the field, watching as the players went about their business. To his surprise, one of the students had already caught the quaffle... but in a flash another student stole it from the boy, and she was coming straight at him! Weaving her way effortlessly across the field, Dante watched in awe as Celaena dodged another teammate's attempt to steal.
With his brows promptly furrowed and his tongue poking out from the corner of his mouth, Dante prepared to defend the goal as best as his little body would permit.
