[The Night Faery]

"I have seen a few," Alessa said, and in any other situation she would have smiled. But this was no time for amusing reminiscences. "Yes, that is Zeus, the most powerful of the gods."

"You are hereby stripped of your rank on Olympus. Your rank as Princess in the Underworld is not ours to decide; we will leave this to be determined by Hades." Even as he spoke, it was clear that he hated the words he was saying. Of course she would remain a princess in the Underworld; Hades was her father. "You are welcome here only under guard, and with no use of your abilities. Furthermore, you will no longer be trusted with the diplomatic work of the gods."

Alessa exhaled a tiny breath of air. That meant no arranged marriages.

Eris' back straightened, and she lifted her chin with new confidence; she had heard Alessa breathe. She knew she was here.

"That is all," Zeus said. Then, to a pair of armored men that flanked the kneeling woman: "Unchain her."

Indya waited until the guards had unchained her to turn to the others as the gods moved off to attend to other business. Meanwhile the guards began to escort Eris off of Olympus "I think it is safe for us to go see her now, what do you think Nana? "

She didn't want to move until it was entirely safe to, after all she'd promised Mimcry that she'd stay safe .

Nana looked in turn to Alessa, who was focused on Eris. "Alessa?" she asked softly.

"Yes, it's all right."

"Would you prefer if we stayed here?" Nana asked.

Alessa almost started to say yes, but thought better of it. "No, you would be at too much risk alone. Two lovely young mortal women surrounded by gods? No disrespect to your abilities, but you wouldn't stand a chance. Come with me."

She began moving toward Eris, at a slow but powerful stride at first, then picking up speed. "Mistress!" she called, when she was close enough. Eris stopped, and her guards did not force her to keep moving.

Eris' eyes widened. She had sensed Alessa's presence, but had shrugged it off as a mirage, a trick of her ears and her heart. "My beautiful Alessa," she breathed.

"I agree, we may of defeated a queen and twin tyrants but we would not stand a chance against the gods " She followed Alessa "Hello Eris " she had decided that it would be good to just talked to her once rival queen to be and see if they could perhaps become friends now that Eris had lost almost everything . " We brought Alessa back to you, "

Eris had only just reached out to brush Alessa's cheek when she caught sight of the two young women trailing her, and her entire body stiffened. "Brought her back?" she scoffed, but she remained wary. How could she not? This was the queen who had deposed her, and the young woman who had stormed her palace.

"Eri', they came only for our benefit," Alessa said softly. She understood her mistress' uncertainty, but was trying to smooth the situation over. "They had no obligation. They were only trying to help me return to you safely... which I have, haven't I?" A smile played at her lips. Eris couldn't help but mirror it.

"I suppose you have," she agreed. As for the two Wonderlanders-- she couldn't help but respect them for what they had done to Tweedle Dee, that wretched creature she had so quickly learned to despise: Indya clawing his smug face beyond recognition, Nana plunging the fatal dagger into his heart. To them, formally and respectfully, she said, "Thank you for your pains. We will see you home safely."

Nana smiled and dipped her head, returning the respect. "Thank you," she replied. "We have offered our home to Alessa, should she wish to return for a visit; we extend the invitation to you as well. You would be among friends." Playfully she added, "And Wonderland really is beautiful in times of peace, especially during the harvest season."

Alessa's smile broadened. Eris nodded and said, "We may take you up on that offer." Almost as an afterthought, she added, "And-- while, as I am sure you heard, I myself will not be returning for any diplomatic affairs... we will be in touch should the gods decide to make a similar attempt in the future."

"Thank you," Nana said, and meant it with every bone in her body. "That means more to us than you know."

After a silent exchange with Eris, as if to ask if it was all right, Alessa came forward and embraced each young woman in turn. Then, backing up and taking Eris' hand, she said with a smile, "Brace yourselves. I will count to three. One... two..."

Nana took a deep breath and gripped Indya's hand.

"Three."

"Indya waved with her free hand before three and closed her eyes as that sensation came over her again. When she opened her eyes , they were back at the Caterpillar's home where it appeared everyone was off enjoying themselves " Come on Nana, lets go join them." She was eager to see Mimicry again. Deciding to surprise him she let go of nana's hand and slowly vanished starting wth her feet, reappearing deliberately in Mimcry's lap "Twas brilling.. hello my Mimcry"

Jasper meanwhile had reverted to Jabbers while Nana was away and was sulking about lonely as Nana spotted him by one of the mushrooms .Despite her telling him not to worry, he was worried about her. He felt like he should of asked to go along as well, being a bit curious about what olympus looked like but more because he wanted to know his Nana was safe and that the gods wouldn't do anything to her.

Mimicry jumped as Indya suddenly appeared in his lap-- not in the gentle, lazy way that was typical of Cheshire cats, but as if she had popped out of nowhere-- and clapped a hand over his mouth to stifle the sheepish laugh that ensued. "Well played, my dear," he said. "Well played." He kissed the top of her head and asked, "That was faster than I expected. Did it go all right?"

Nana stood for a moment, watching the young Jabberwock flick his tail nervously, occasionally releasing a quiet growl of anxiety. He only got like this-- reverting to his true form-- when he was truly upset. She came to him on quiet feet, knelt beside him and touched his neck lovingly. "I'm here," she cooed, stroking his jaw and planting a kiss on his scaly muzzle. "I told you I'd be all right."

She smiled "Thank you my love " She snuggled closely to him " It went just fine , Eris is reunited with Alessa and she is not resentful toward me , I think she and I can get along fine should she ever take up the offer to come visit wonderland again"

Jabbers looked up and a smile seemed to appear as he reverted back into a human "thank goodness , did It go well? " He wrapped his arms around her hugging her tightly but not enough to hurt her. "I should of believed you, but I worry about you anyway"

Mimicry returned the smile. "Well, that sounds like a better result than even you expected.... I'm glad of it, too."

"I'm glad you do," Nana said, returning the squeeze. "Considering how much you worry about everyone, I'd be offended if you didn't." With a gently teasing smile, she settled up against the stalk of the mushroom and leaned her head against his shoulder, twining her fingers around his. "It did go well," she said. "They're safely together, and I don't think the gods will be bothering them much anymore. Eris said she'd find a way to warn us... if the gods tried to do anything like they did. To our world."

She nuzzled him gently "Yes It turned out much better than expected, and now there is nothing stopping us from starting our life. So what do we want to do now mimcry..where shall we go "

He smiled at her and stroked her hair "That's kind of her, perhaps she was not as bad as we made her out to be" He held her hand " Nana, we should probably have our wedding soon, I fear something will come up again that will force us to postpone it again"

Mimicry gave a sigh of daydreaming, and looked out into the distance; even though his actual vision only contained the humongous stalks of mushrooms, his mind was searching the entirety of Wonderland. "Well, we could set up a house in the woods... just close enough to everything and everyone we need, but just far enough away for us to be at peace. Maybe... start a family. We can be bakers, or watchmakers, or animal caretakers-- anything we want."

Nana shrugged. "I think she saw us as weak," she murmured. "Which, compared to her, seems to be true. But I think seeing how Alessa came to trust us so quickly might have changed her opinion of us."

At the mention of the wedding, she sat up straight and looked directly at him. "You're right," she said. "Come on."

She grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet, half-leading and half-dragging him to the center of the Caterpillar's giant fairy-ring of mushrooms, so that they could see all of their friends in one sweeping circle. "Everyone?" she called. "Could I have your attention?"

She waited until everyone was looking at the pair, then gave a broad smile and said, "Jasper and I humbly request your presence at our wedding-- which will take place in about two hours."

"Two hours?" Jasper whispered as they sat back down, and everyone else continued about their business. He looked purely alarmed.

Nana laughed. "What?" she whispered back. "Miss Nera already made our clothing, and all of our guests are already here-- except for the ones we're going to bring back from the Circle, but that will only be my parents and yours.... We have a beautiful location, we have our rings, and I'm sure we can make a smattering of refreshments in the Hatter's house. Don't worry. You worry too much." She giggled and kissed him on the nose. "It will be fine, I promise."

Indya laid her head on his shoulder "That sounds perfect Mimcry, we can still be with our friends and have our privacy" She blushed "A family... " An image of a little mimicry or Indya popped into her head making her smile" That sounds wonderful" She looked up as Nana called for everyone's attention " I suppose I'll have to get my dress out now. " She smiled thinking back to her own wedding at this same spot .

Jasper nodded still unsure about two hours, he was excited to marry her but did not like the short amount of time they had to get ready" I Suppose Nana.. after all Mimicry and Indya got their wedding ready in a short time" He wanted this to be special for her.

Mimicry felt Indya's cheek grow warm on his shoulder, and knew she was thinking about a family too. The idea brought a smile to his face, and he thought that maybe, just maybe, they really could put the worst of everything behind them and start afresh. "I suppose we should help them with preparations," he said, standing up and offering his hands to pull Indya to her feet. "I think we could be of some use making food, if the Hatter will let us use his kitchen."

"Of course you can use my kitchen," the Hatter called from across the circle. Mimicry raised his eyebrows in surprise; either Hatter had very acute hearing, or he had simply anticipated that someone would take the lead in preparing for the wedding.

Nana smiled. "Remember how beautiful their wedding was?" she asked reassuringly. "And that was only hours before the bride herself went back into the palace to be our intel on the Tweedles. Think about it... we've got absolutely nothing to stop us from celebrating for days." The grin on her face was as broad as a Cheshire's and twice as mischievous. "Now... we should probably go and get our parents. Do you want to fly, or shall we ask the Caterpillar for another favor?" Leaning in closer, she whispered, "I really don't think he'll be taking us up on any of them. He can challenge me right now, since he knows I'm saying so... but I don't think he will."

Indya smiled " Well then lets get going, there's no time to waste " She could already think of a few things that they could make , things that they had had at her own wedding that people had liked " Thank you hatter, I promise We'll try to keep the mess to a minimum" She took Mimcry's hand and started toward the Hatter'.


Jasper nodded " Yes it was , and I want ours to be even better Nana, I want this to be the day you always remember for the reset of our lives " He squeezed her hand " hmm I think flying sounds good.. I fear asking him for another favor will be rude " He paused thinking of all the favors that they had already asked of the caterpillar.

The Hatter laughed. "Please, my dear, you couldn't make that house any messier if you tried your hardest."

"I can help you two," Alice offered, passing off the baby to her husband and standing. "Even after being locked in an asylum, being a mother seems to give one keen insight into the culinary world."

"Almost supernatural," Cheshire teased, smiling up at his wife.

"All right, we'll fly. As long as you don't mind doing the flying," Nana added, a twinkle in her eye. "I'm afraid I'm not as good at that as one might hope." She watched as Jasper transformed into Jabbers, then climbed aboard his back and they took off, rising straight into the air until they cleared the tallest mushrooms, then setting off in the direction of the Plains.
