I'm aware that it's probablyu been sorted out by now, but the Lib Dems are not the same as the Liberals (the Democrats and the Liberals allied in 198 cool , and the Liberals are technically not the same as the Whigs (they changed the name during the 19th century).
I don't know who I'll vote for. The Conservatives repulse me, really. I have no sympathies with the right wing. In particular, Cameron is an irritating public school boy, trying his hardest to act chummy with those who don't usually vote for his party.
Lib Dems are useless... No comments about them, but I'd wish they were ultra-liberal and had a chance.
Labour are a constant stream of PR stunts and disappointment. I wish they were as vocal as in their early days for the 'working class', and had evolved not as a party, but along with the term 'working class', to offer us a modern liberal socialism, rather than a misnomer of conservatism that they offer us.

I will be voting for the Conservatives. My reasoning is probably a little unique because it concerns my own background.
I used to live in Northern Ireland, where the major parties are affiliated with a terrorist organisation. Sinn Féin/IRA, Democratic Unionist Party/UDA are just two examples. The people of Northern Ireland have only recently began to see beyond their own petty struggles and it's taken them decades to come to the point they are at, but while the two aforementioned parties remain in power, it will take even more decades for the current delusion of 'peace' to become a reality.
While I lived there, I could not vote for any of the major British parties, despite being a British citizen living in Britain. Why? There was no New Labour candidate running in any area of Northern Ireland. There was no Liberal Democrat candidate running in any area of Northern Ireland.
There was a Conservative candidate.
It was pointless to vote for him/her. Even though my vote would be a vote for a non-paramilitary organisation, never mind it being a vote for Britain, my single vote would be lost against the thousands still voting for the past.
I now live in England, which despite all it's faults, is still a more civilised country than Northern Ireland will be for a long time. I have always admired Margaret Thatcher's harsh stance against the wastes of oxygen in Northern Ireland and I will vote for the party that at least tries to give the British citizens of Northern Ireland a chance to vote as part of Britain.

This was a really cool post! I might be relocating to Norn Iron to work for the PSNI and it's interesting to get the 'low down' on how things are. It's strange to think when I was wee, the troubles were still ongoing and I had no idea at all. It's odd to think a place with so much 'drama' for want of a better expression, is part of the UK. When you compare it to the rest of it, that is. I appreciate that the people of NI are still reaping what has been sown, but I hope things are improving.
We must learn to live as brothers and sisters! Real/Continuity IRA suck!
Anyway. Where I come from it's a battle between Lib Dems and Tories, so naturally I shall be voting for...
Go Nick! Go!
