"Heh. I'm not gonna freak out. I'm totally breezy." Chiyou popped his collar and wiggled his hips.
Narcissus was right, as usual, at least when it came to affairs involving Chiyou.
Go out there, have fun, and prove to everyone that ever doubted him that he was still there, still ok, and still somebody.
He could still make a crowd swoon, and he just knew it!
Besides, he wanted to put a smile on Ishi's face...and it was also the last time he would be able to speak, or sing, as it were, his feelings directly to Izzy. Yes, he had already gotten his answer, but it was a sort of catharsis, a step in the healing process for him.
Izzy would at least get to understand better...there was no way he would mistake the lyrics of his songs being meant for anyone but himself.
Nakai came offstage just then and encouraged him, bringing the brightness out of the boy again in full force.
"Thanks, Nakai-san!" he giggled, turning back to Akihiko.
"Ok...well, looks like it's time! Wish me luck!"
Stepping back, he headed toward the stage entrance, having his mic fitted to him quickly, his backup crew taking their places.
Peeking over his shoulder once more, he gave a wink to Narcissus and Nakai just before taking the stage.
This was it.
Here he was, in the spotlight, and it was going to be glorious...

Charity Event - Back Stage
"Good. We'll put him in a life jacket just in case he tries to dive off the boat to go back to work." he chuckled just before Shou's ears were captured by the notes coming from the front stage. What a wonderful new sound. At least one that hadn't graced the superstar's ears before. Such grit and a mastery of the strings but...there was a flaw. And Shou surely made note of it. However, the words mixed with the playful and ripping notes left Shou very enchanted. He loved to have new competition. What else could keep him driving towards new sounds? New fantasies? It's too bad he couldn't have heard all the other acts as clearly.
"Nakai-san is really talented. I can see a bright future in that one." he said as he let his eyes shut to gather the rest of the tunes into his head. But then Narcissus called Chiyou-kun over and Shou's eyes flicked open, It will be good to get back into the saddle again then, won't it Chiyou-kun? I've not actually heard your voice live singing so I'll be interested to see what you can pull off." He smiled up at the boy...his angelic face giving him a playful wink. "Yes,I actually am curious to get your manager's take on the show if he's getting to see these acts from a good seat, Narcissus. Oh no! don't tell me you've got 'stage fright' too. Goodness, are you also going to need a kiss to make it all better?" He had to muse at the thought of all these stars almost giddy as if it were their first performance. It made for a heady but satisfying feeling.
But then Nakai approached and Shou stood to greet him. "Great sounds coming from the front stage, Nakai-san. I dare say that you had the crowd really going. The raw energy got my attention and they're still cheering so I think you got their attention. But..." he chuckled a bit and glanced around walking away for a moment to grab his acoustic guitar. Once returning, he continued, "When you got to this part..." Shou fingers flew across the acoustic guitar recapturing Nakai's sound, "One of the strings was either a bit out of tune or...you went here..." he played the bar and then changed it up, " rather than here. I think it's probably a more natural progression to go this way."
And here, Shou's talent with guitar did show because he was quite noted for his ability with the instrument that mingled with an almost perfect pitch in vocals. Sometimes it was hard to say which Shou was better at...singing or playing. But he tended to mix it up frequently so one really never had a full set of one or the other. Once he strummed out a few more licks from Nakai's song, he paused and looked up, "You didn't get to tune up."

Nakai smirked slightly, "You've a good ear, Shou-san. Though... if I could..." he lifted his guitar, playing the notes exactly as they should be played.
And that same sound occurred.
"I was tuning up... and a string broke. Five minutes before I went on stage, I might add." the guitarist shook his head. "It's a wonder I got it restrung at all... but I did, though the tuning process could have gone a bit better if I'd had the time."
It was true... he'd been in the middle of a short practice in his dressing room... when a string snapped, nearly catching his arm in the process. Luckily, it had extra on him.
But that hadn't done anything for his performance.
Narcissus sat there, eyes closed as he listened to both Shou and Nakai talk about guitars.
It'd been a while since he held his own guitar... and strangely, the musician found himself missing it.
"I'm sure Izzy will be impressed nevertheless." Akihiko spoke, though he didn't open his eyes.
He seemed... tired?
Well yes, he was. He had the energy for the show of course... but at the moment... well... he just wasn't feeling quite right.
"But yes, I agree, Shou-san... Life jacket is a necessity..."

Just before he had stepped through the curtain, Chiyou had blown a precious little kiss at Shou. He hadn't needed a kiss for stage fright, but one for good luck never hurt.
Now, here, in the heat of the lights and the rush of the fans, Chiyou stood center stage, looking out over the crowd.
His guitarist stuck a chord and he posed, one arm up and out, leaning back with his other hand on his hip. It wasn't the same adorable Chiyou everyone had always known and had probably been expecting.
"Hello to you all!" he cried out, the audience responding in kind, many of the younger girls nearly hyperventilating just from looking at him.
"All of my lovelies...so glad I could see you again...." the guitarist struck another chord and the kid switched poses with the sound, now with his back to the crowd.
"It's been so long, and so much has happened since we last met, so many changes...we've grown up quite a bit, ne?"
Another chord, another step, turning halfway to the crowd with his hand outstretched, as if beckoning.
"One thing that never changes in the world, though, is love. Fall in love with me tonight?" he asked, and every girl in the room let out a shriek so loud it was a miracle glass didn't shatter.
Then the drums kicked in, the first song beginning with a hard-driving beat.
He could see him....his beloved. Right there, center stage....
For a moment, their eyes met.
Ruki... he thought to himself, his heart jumping with the beat. Here we go...all for you...

The pace kept to the faster side, but the tone mellowed out considerably as the second song came in, a beat with considerably more groove, and a sweeter sound. The choreography to this song was very nice, several backup dancers coming out and dancing along with Chiyou, a very hip-hop, R&B style. It was exhilarating to the boy, moving and singing perfectly at the same time, striking each move in sync with the group.
And the fact that he had done this all on his own, put it all together...it gave him a sense of pride that he was rather surprised to feel.
Even so, he kept finding himself looking back to Izzy throughout the entire song, looking right at the man during certain lines.
It couldn't be helped...how do you not look at your inspiration while singing of it?
During a sad time, is telling you I’m “sad” being weak?

The middle of the set now...the sound becoming more and more mellow as it went along. His third song was far calmer, no dancing at all, just sweet, honest vocals. The sort of singing that spoke to the heart.
Walking to the edge of the stage, Chiyou knelt down on one knee, letting the fans reach out and touch his hand as he extended it, though his eyes only drifted over them, then back to Izzy.
Nobody would notice, not really. It would just appear he was looking out over the crowd.
Only Ishi would really know.
So softly, he sang. Smiling at the lyric he had put in there just for the manager.
"Look, that pedestrian's crossing coloured by gumball stains is beautiful"...he sang. He remembered so vividly having said that to Izzy when they were out walking one day, when Izzy still managed him. The way Izzy laughed and laughed at his silly statement....it had surprised him to see such a smile on Izzy's face. Not the smile itself, but how, suddenly, he remembered seeing something in the man that amazed him.
Sure, the song mentioned a young girl...but that was only for practicality. It wouldn't sell as well if he had written "young man" in there instead...
Like faded jeans - that's the ideal way, don't you agree?

The lights fell, and a mist came across the stage. The set became like a purple twilight with sparkling stars across the sky, twinkling like diamonds.
This song was so slow, so romantic.
Girls were crying in the audience as he sang, his young voice reaching to high notes he had even been afraid to write in, but he hit them with a precision that would stir anyone's ear and heart.
Most of the song, Chiyou's eyes were closed, but there, at the end, he opened them to look out to Izzy again. He couldn't focus on anyone else, couldn't look away.
A single sparkling teardrop could be seen sliding from his eye, down his cheek. It reflected in the light and glittered like a teardrop from an angel.
Indeed...heven if he knew that he couldn't see him anymore...he could hear him, feel him, everywhere, in everything he did.

The pace kept slow, but the song was more mournful this time.

All sweet sentiments....but Chiyou hardly heard them. All he saw was Ishi Ruki, out in the middle of the ocean of screaming fans.
He had done what he needed to do. It was over. It had been beautiful. It had been glorious.
"Aishiteru..." he said softly, seemingly to the crowd in general as the music faded away.
Then the lights blacked out and they moved offstage for the next act...though the crowds kept calling out for more.
He hoped...he hoped he had made Izzy proud.
Exiting backstage, Chiyou found the first wall he could get to, leaned against it, sunk down to the floor, and cried.

Akihiko couldn't pretend he didn't know what Chiyou was belting out on that stage.
Even if he wanted to... he knew.
After all, there was no way that the musician's couldn't guess... the lyrics said it all.
So, as Shou and Nakai talked about their guitars... well... Narcissus simply listened to the music from beyond the curtain.
When the set was over, blue eyes opened to watch as a rather dejected Chiyou returned backstage and then just... well... broke...
Without a word, Akihiko stood from the chair, careful of his wings, and walked as far as the rigging would allow... which, thankfully, was about a foot in front of the kid.
"You improved. Seems like your muse came through in the end." Akihiko spoke, not commenting whatsoever on the fact that Chiyou was crying. "It was a worthy performance, Chiyou-kun. I think he'd be more than proud of you."
Meanwhile, Nakai had stopped in his guitar pursuit to watch Narcissus and Chiyou.
The young Koyasu was... being... nice?

"Yeah...I...I h-hope so. Thank you...Akihiko." Chiyou managed to get out through his sobs, not making any mention of the fact that he was crying either, though it was painfully obvious.
It was almost as though the boy were trying to ignore it himself.
"I really gave it...gave it my all...just like y-you said. It was...really...great...being onstage again."
Standing up shakily, Chiyou kept himself tight against the wall, as if he were afraid he would fall up somehow if he let go.
"Still have some...some room for i-i-improvement, though, ya know. Hopefully my next p-performance will be even b-b-b-better."
Despite doing his damndest to have a normal conversation, the young star couldn't keep himself from crying, the tears falling of their own volition.
He had hoped singing those songs would have been good enough to let his feeling out, but sometimes tears were the only way, when a hurt was deep enough.

In between sobs, Chiyou nodded in response to Akihiko's words.
When he looked up was when the surprise hit. Narcissus was holding his hand out to him...offering him comfort.
This was...unexpected, to say the least.
Shakily, Chiyou stretched his hand out, afraid to let go of the security of the wall until his fingers touched the older star's.
Slowly, the boy stepped away from the wall, and right into Akihiko's arms, sobbing against the man's chest.
Perhaps the young Koyasu had been the one to take Izzy from him, but he couldn't be angry. He couldn't hate someone Izzy loved. Matter of fact, he couldn't help but feel a sort of love for the vocalist with the reputation for being self-centered and hard to work with. What Ruki held dear, Chiyou would hold dear as well. Even if it hurt. That was just the sort of boy, the sort of man, Chiyou was.
"I'm sorry, Akihiko....it's just one of those days, I guess." he tried to shrug it all off, still pressed against the man, holding on for dear life, only mindful enough to avoid disturbing any part of the costume.
"Thank you, though. Really...thank you..."

"I won't..." the boy said softly, putting his ear to the brunette's chest, listening to the rhythm of his heart. Somehow, it calmed him greatly to hear that gentle beating.
Having Akihiko's arms around him was wonderful, though he hadn't imagined it to be. He felt like they had a strange sort of understanding, at least in this, if nothing else.
What Narcissus said, though, made the blond laugh, even through his tears.
"You really do know me too well...niisan." he teased back, hiccuping a little from all the crying.
"That's why I'm ok with it, you know...because you think of what Ruki would do, what he would want, what would make him happy..." he whispered so nobody else would hear. No need outing a star and his manager's personal relationship.
"I'll be fine, Akihiko. This...it's just another part of life, of growing up, I guess. Doesn't make it easy, but what can I do but keep going, eh?"
The tears were beginning to slow, at least, and Chiyou didn't feel nearly as weak or out of control.
Having somebody be there for him...it really did mean a lot. Without Akihiko, who knows what he would have gone through, crying on his own.
"It's almost time for you guys to go on, isn't it?" he tried to bring the conversation toward something a little more normal, stepping back, though tentatively, from the elder star.
Narcissus may have been dressed as a demon, but tonight, to Chiyou, he was quite the angel in disguise.

........Show Time!!.........
Izzy was so proud as he watched Nakai race on stage and perform. Every note rang in his ear and he was amazed by the edgy lyrics and purely funky sounds that rose from the man's fingers. Izzy knew right away, that Nakai...was destined to become a super star...eventually. This Event would gain the exposure and the tour afterwards...Oh yes, Izzy licked his lips eager to see what they could do together. Sometimes Izzy wondered back on those first days with Nakai, if things had gone another way would they truly be standing here in this moment? If he had fallen for Nakai...the day they had pastries would it have been the same? Surely Nakai would have made it here without him but Izzy was sure glad to be there with him.
It was so exciting for Izzy to be able to totally be immersed in the music. He snuck out his iphone and took several pictures even though he knew he probably shouldn't. Feeling much like a kid sneaking shots and video!! It was just pure bliss to be free of all his worries for a while! Narcissus was right. He surely needed to see his stars from this side of the stage!!
But Nakai's set ended all too quick and Izzy was up on his toes clapping hard and calling out Nakai's name in a loud...oh no...not a loud yell at all. He grasped his throat after his foolish attempt to yell for his star. So he quickly started clapping as loud as he could but he doubted that Nakai would hear him over the rest of the audience.
When Nakai left, Izzy finally sat down seriously thinking about the performance and even took small notes of what he thought. He wanted to be able to give his star an idea of what he liked and didn't. But really for seeing him the first time like this, Nakai was...exceptional.

Izzy didn't get to wait to long for Chiyou-kun's performance. It was then he sat up in his seat and prayed to the stars above that Chiyou could pull this off. And then, Chiyou started to sing. It wasn't far into the set that Izzy realized that Chiyou had changed and grew quite in such a short time. The emotional songs were a definite turn towards a slowly maturing musician. Izzy was very proud but then...as the sentimental tunes continued, he started to realize who Chiyou was sing to...HIM...
His heart felt a weight of sadness cascade down as the words continued to flow from Chiyou. Words about them...words of desperate wanting and longing...words of love. Izzy didn't know what to say. Didn't know how to react. Didn't know...what to do. The songs might have been the best Chiyou ever written so far. No...they were the best. But Izzy couldn't help but feel terribly miserable as he listened knowing that his own feelings weren't quite the same. If there had been no other...if Akihiko hadn't been one he fell for, would he have chosen Chiyou. He...doubted that he could ever get beyond that feeling of being a father. But then again, given time? He didn't know
Although by the time the set was over, he had already soaked the handkerchief that he was lucky enough to have in his coat. He still was quite proud of Chiyou and he could tell that the boy had meant ever word. For once, Izzy was glad not to be back stage when Chiyou left the audience. Because, he had a feeling that his heart wouldn't let him stop crying. So he sat there, staring and wringing his handkerchief wishing that sometimes he could just disappear. His own heart might be just like Chiyou's soon. Broken. Izzy felt so bad for being the 'bad guy' and it was tempting to go hide...but still he had a job to do and he wanted so badly to hear Narcissus and Shou sing.
But that was when Nikki found him, "Yare Yare, who's that sad soul in that ugly suit! I've got 20 minutes before Narcissus-san gets on stage...20 minutes to clean up that face and put you in a new look. You know, I even got the other staff ready to help! Come along Ishi-kun."
So Izzy was dragged off with heavy thoughts and for once didn't complain as the Make up and stylist team whipped him into an entirely different look. Nikki smiled as he showed Izzy off in the mirror to himself, "Took off about 10 years just by changing the hair and clothes. You're adorable...and gorgeous once more! Now back to the audience you go...Shoo Shoo!"
And almost as fast as he was pulled into the lair of the Fashion Designer, he was pushed out and guided to his seat. Much more difficult to recognize this younger looking man. Nikki did good work. And maybe even though Izzy was still feeling sad, the change might have done him some good. He remembered a time he had dressed this fashionable some time before he had become one of Ohayou's.

These deep scars rooted within me will not disappear...
Sitting back in his dressing room, Hayato spent a rather long time just staring in the mirror again.
Oh, how Naoko hated him. Now...Naoko wished to keep him from Sai...or Shou, as he seemed to have become.
While he could understand it, at the same time, he had difficulty grasping exactly why things had become this way.
It was just another aspect of how completely messed up Hayato's mind was.
Reaching out toward the mirror, he touched the reflection of his face, tracing around the lips and the nose.
Indeed, he had come to look exactly like him. It was somehow both pleasant and despicable.
Odd, how one can come to want what they have rejected, covet what they destroyed, admire that which makes them ill.
Leaning forward, the dark star closed his eyes. His head hurt, and there was a pain in his neck and arm...probably just acting up from his former injuries.
He could not go home, though. Could not rest. Would not, until he got what he wanted, no, needed.
He would surely go out to hear Shou sing when it was time for their set, but he had a good bit of time.
At the moment, Chiyou was still on, as far as he knew.
Chiyou...that sweet child...
Naoko was right to want to look after him.
Perhaps...perhaps he could stand to understand Naoko better. The reasons why he felt the way he did. Honestly, he knew, but it didn't sink into his mind very well. Somehow, his mind wanted to reject it.
"Think...how would he feel. How would you have felt, if it had been reversed?" he said to himself in the mirror.
Indeed....fearing death, the strangled cries, the begging, the panic and torment...even how he had seemed to want to come back to him.
Hayato could remember, there in the hospital. Naoko had been there for him...seemed to still love him...
It was...so very sad.
Grabbing a pen and paper, Hayato began to write a song, from what he imagined would be Naoko's point of view, back then.
Say if the morning doesn't come

Thirty minutes later, he was done. Of course, he would have to write actual music for the piece another time, but the words were what he had been after all along.
It made more sense, now, when the vocalist thought of it more musically.
Right and wrong, feelings and scars, the very psychology of it.
This...this was why he had been wrong, like Sai had said.
Silently, he prayed that perhaps, one day, Naoko might forgive him.
Perhaps. Or not.
Time would tell.
What he wondered, however, was if time, and love, could quell his desire to hunt, to dominate, to tear apart and destroy everything sweet and beautiful.
He couldn't deny that part of himself, even after finally admitting that he was wrong, that it was wrong.
It was like a hunger, an addiction.
Ah, but Sai...Shou...
If he remembered correctly, and he was rather certain he did....that minx of a man was quite the outlet in and of himself...
Rising from his seat, Hayato folded up the paper and tucked it in a pocket, leaving the room with time left before Shou and Narcissus took the stage...
