And there he was, being ditched... again. And it sucked.
To be frank, Benjamin was not happy about it, with Night leaving him as soon as the half-demon was close to finding love again, but rather than moping too much about it, he spent most of his time being busy at Bookworm's. In fact, he had worked himself overtime to forget about the pain, his outward appearance being calm but deep inside, he was conflicted. It was only when the manager gave him the flyer to the interesting event at the beach and coerced to go home, appreciating the work nonetheless, that he was back to being alone, contemplating on what to do next. To be fair, he couldn't stand being cooped up in his Ombre adobe for a long time, or he would get drowned in his thoughts again, more so when it was about the times he shared with the werewolf, even if it was just brief. In fact, he still kept the orchids in that vase, a sign of courtship, before the bridge was burned.
But the time at the beach might help to keep himself occupied, to lift his spirits up, even if it was just partially. Even during his time with his childhood friend, and more so with his adoptive family, the beach was one place to grant him the serenity that he needed when things went rough. The feel of the ocean wind, the vast sea, that scenery left him at peace. Benjamin had eaten breakfast, taken a shower, dressed up and packed light before leaving his adobe, cruising to the beach via his bicycle. It was a long stroll, but he made it, and he kept the bike secure in a safe and vacant spot before venturing further, the sand crunching underneath his shoes.
He set up the beach blanket for him to lie down later; there wasn't much people yet, so he was glad to be there early at least. Baby blue eyes scanned to the bunch of buckets and shovels not far from where he was standing. Could that mean that the sandcastle building was available for the event? That might help to pass the time, and mainly, to keep himself busy for the time being.

Ozwald let out low grumbles under his breath, with some colorful language mixed in. In an effort to be more sociable he made a promise to attend the next event he heard about. This turned out to be some kind of gathering at the beach, which he was slightly dreading for various reasons. His pale skin was prone to burn easily during summer, which he tried to mitigate by applying lots of sunscreen before leaving the house. Another reason was that he was rather self conscious about the numerous scars that littered his body. Thankfully he had a shirt to cover up with and had managed to find his swim trunks. He hadn't worn them since that one time that he and Malik had gone pool hopping. Since then he hadn't really gone around water, so taking a swim in the ocean could be fun.. maybe. He was beginning to think that this was a bad idea, but he was already here so might as well try and have some fun. Dropping his bag once he found a suitable spot he grabbed his towel and laid it out. As he scanned the area he didn't see many people, though it was early in the day so that made sense. However his dark eyes did catch a familiar sight a little ways away from him. His mouth quirked up in a half smile as he walked over to the blond male he had hung out with the other day. Clearing his throat a bit he called out in his raspy tone, "Hey Benjamin, it's been a while huh?"

Setsuko hummed softly as she casually strolled down the shore, her bag swinging a bit on one arm as she carried her ukulele case in the other. She had heard some of her neighbors talking about an event going on down at the beach. So having nothing else to do today she figured heading down and hanging out with people would be more fun than sitting around in the house. Her blue eyes were glowing as her umbrella floated behind her as she tried to scope out a prime spot. Thankfully there weren't that many people around yet, probably because it was early in the day so she had her pick of spots. Soon she picked a spot that was near one of the large trees. Setting her bag down she grabbed her still floating umbrella and stuck it in the ground, then she rolled out her beach towel and sat down. Her first order of business was slipping her sundress off and safely tucking it away, then she liberally applied sunblock to her skin. One could never be to careful and the last thing she needed was a sunburn. She noticed small buckets and shovels scattered around, which probably were meant for building sand castles. She had never made of those before but perhaps she could try her hand at it later. They could be very cute and creative at times. For now she thought to entertain herself so she took out her instrument and started strumming out a song. When she picked up the instrument a few years back she hadn't really thought she'd be good at playing. But thanks to hours of practice and a few tutorial videos later she became pretty competent in her playing.

Benjamin recalled that there were other games and contests available, but to be frank, he was not in the mood for those. The half-demon was about to stand up when he heard someone else's throat clearing, and baby blue eyes took notice of the familiar face. It was that fellow British lad whom he had met back then at Bookworm's, but they both had their own personal things to take care of. A practiced smile formed on his lips, "It's a pleasure to meet you again, Oz. It has been a while. Quite a lovely day for the beach visit, isn't it?" Maybe the young man was also interested in building the sandcastles, or maybe not, but nonetheless, Ben changed the topic, mainly to keep the conversation going. He certainly didn't want to explain the pain he was feeling right now, the sensation of being left empty.
"So, are you familiar with building sand castles? I noticed that there are multiple buckets and shovels available, and it may be a waste not to give them a try," he spoke. Benjamin may have seen and heard about those creations, but he was no master at them, being stuck with only the basic formations. He stood up, fetching a bucket and shovel from the pile so that he would start working on it. Oz was still welcome to try if the other would wish to do so; there were still lots of the tools available for utilization.

Chester screamed out from the top of his lungs before running toward the sand. God, being back at the beach after a while is good, though for an entirely different reason altogether. The summer season had commenced, thus it was a good excuse for people to have some fun in the sun. He stopped by a vacant spot that was far from the water and held out both his arms, inhaling the smell of the ocean. Definitely, there were a lot of activities incoming for this lovely Sunday; he would like to be there all day if he would like to, though he had to bring sunscreen along the other essentials in his bag beforehand as a safety measure. The last thing he wanted was to get the sunburn from being under the sun for too long.
But also, he had brought along a cooler filled with a batch of mini key lime cheesecakes. That was all he could bring for food since it would be a hassle carrying a bit too much. Maybe there would be some familiar faces that he could share the dessert with, or the delectable treat itself would suffice as a conversation starter. Chester was fine with either both as long as he wouldn't let the food go to waste. He then set up his blanket so that he could claim his spot before the others would arrive shortly.
Tsuki walked out onto the beach with a sports bag around his shoulder. It's been a while since he's been to the beach so the smell of the ocean was refreshing to him. The beach was slowly starting to become packed full of people due to the event that was taking place. He didn't really care for the event but instincts told him to check it out so he did. He had packed a pair of swim trunks in his bag, a couple towels and other things that you'd typically see people bring to the beach. He stepped onto the sand and wandered along the shoreline as he looked for a good spot to sit. After a while, he saw a spot that looked good. Although, it was right next to a girl who had already set her up her own little spot. He wondered if he could share the spot next to her as there weren't many good places that stood out to him so he walked up to her to ask. Hello, I don't mean to disturb you but would you mind if I took the spot next to you? All the good spots are pretty hard to find now."
If there was one thing Sophia was not used to, it was wearing a bikini swimsuit. It just wasn't her thing but some of her friends that she's made over the last couple of days pretty much gave her no choice in the matter. She felt uncomfortable in the bikini so she had a very thin jacket covering up most of her upper torso. Despite that though, it didn't stop her from wanting to check out the event that was going on at the beach. Once she got there, a lot of people had already arrived and set up their place. You can definitely feel that it was summer out. She had a backpack with small things like lotion and a couple drinks and snacks as she didn't know how long she had planned to stay at the beach. She spent a good while wandering the shoreline, looking at all the people that had been around, excited for the event. There was a part of her though that was hoping that there wasn't anyone she knew around due to her uncomfortableness when it came to wearing bikinis.

Ozwald let out a low grunt crossing his arms over his chest, "Eh it's alright, though if I'm honest I've never really been one for bright sunny weather. With the way my skin burns, it'd be easy to mistake me for a vampire." he said with a sardonic laugh. "But it is nice to see a friendly face, much better than sitting around looking awkward. Cause I've had my fill of that." He blinked then gave a quick look around spotting the buckets and shovels "Hm well I've never built one before, but I'm up for trying to learn something new." he said with a half shrug, following behind Ben to grab his own bucket and shovel. Crouching down to sit on the ground he looked over to his companion. "So how do start this?"
Another day on Soleil. The last time Mako made her appearance, it was the convention where she cosplayed as Kusanagi Motoko from the Ghost in the Shell anime. While she did not meet anyone long enough to hold a significant conversation with, she did immerse herself into the culture that she witnessed there. Many people sharing their experience, showing off all their hard work via costumes, the craftsmanship of their non-lethal weapon replicas, food, and so on. There were even celebrities she recognized and met before, so she had a chance to catch up with old friends. Today is a new day and just like with convention, a new event is taking place. This time it is at the beach. There are several things happening at the beach, such as sandcastle building, a swimsuit competition, an amusing game called battleship, etc. She may consider entering into one of those competitions, although she will have to decide between showing off her swimsuit or participating in an epic battle.
Regardless if she chooses to participate in a competition or not, she would like to spend some time at the beach. It will give her another chance to study human behavior again and see if she can see love at work. It is a mystery that she must unravel, but it has not been as easy as she would like it to be. Not that she did not want a challenge, but there has not been any clear direction to follow in her studies. Maybe today will prove different, but she has to get to the beach first. It was not difficult for her to decide on a swimsuit to wear, along with a white summer coverup to wear over it. As she packed the sunscreen and two beach towels into a large bag, along with bringing along a beach umbrella, Calypso made sure to pack a cooler with ice, two of each ham and turkey cheese sandwiches in plastic bags, and four bottles of water. Together they packed everything Mako is bringing with her to the trunk of her car before Calypso handed the car key to Mako and watched her drive away to the beach.
Now she is finally at the beach, carrying her large bag and small cooler while wearing her sunglasses and walking in and she can already tell that the weather is perfect for an occasion like this. The sand is pearly white and warm, the tide of the ocean is just right, and the sun is out and about shining its rays upon all those beneath it. Her first priority is to find a spot that she can claim as her own and begin to apply the sunscreen. She could have done the latter while she was at home, but had seen other humans do this while they were on location, so she figured that is a tradition she should follow. Find a spot she did, close to a humanoid male with orange hair and eyes. Hopefully, he does not mind her being in his proximity, although she has never had this problem with the human males yet. She removed one beach towel from her bag, laid it out flat on the sand, then propped her umbrella closed by and opened it to provide a decent amount of shade for her. She removed her coverup sat down on her beach towel, took out the sunscreen from her bag, and started to apply it on her arms. There is no way she can keep doing this without talking to her close neighbor, the male with orange hair and eyes. The least she can do is ask if she is not disturbing him.
"Excuse me. Were you saving a spot for a friend or seeking some privacy? I can move as soon as I am done applying sunscreen if you want."

Setsuko had become a little absorbed in her strumming, tuning her ukulele a bit as she did. She was shaken from her reverie upon hearing a voice nearby. Looking up to find the source she was quick to see the young man standing in front of her. Taking a quick look around she noticed that people had filled the area rather fast. Though when she really thought about it that would make sense since a large event was going on. Her lips quirked up in a friendly smile as she gestured to the spot next to her, "Oh sure by all means you can take the spot. With this being a big event, I would've been surprised if the best spots weren't taken. I'm just glad I got here early." she quipped with a soft laugh. Setting her instrument to the side, she turned her attention back to the boy pulling her legs up to her chest. "It's quite a lovely day to be out at the beach. This city sure manages to have some of the most fun events." she spoke, making an effort to start pleasant small talk. Even though she hadn't been living here that long, she had been lucky enough to participate in a few interesting events.
Tsuki set his stuff down in the spot next to her as he did some light stretches to get the blood flowing through his body. He wasn't in top physical form today due to not having a good night's rest for some reason. "Thanks. Sorry if I interrupted your playing." He reached into his bag and pulled out a towel and set it on the sand.. He had already been wearing a pair of dark blue swim trunks along with a thin jacket around his torse unzippedso he was already dressed for the occasion at the beach. He then took out some sun lotion and started to apply it to his skin when she mentioned the crowds and how it was a nice day to be at the beach. "Yeah, we got pretty nice weather for the event as well. I probably should of left a bit earlier to get a better spot but my body just didn't want to get up." It's rare for him to not get a good night's sleep. He normally never has trouble sleeping so he wasn't entirely sure why he wasn't able to sleep well.

With the blanket being smoothed out, Chester was now sitting down on it, witnessing the scenery in front of him. The view of the beach was definitely gorgeous, making him feel glad that he had jumped into the moment of the event to start things off for the summer season. Orange irises then zoned in at a familiar female, with the young body, and violet hair, but wearing that swimsuit, though the upper body was concealed with the light jacket. God, she was beautiful, quite amazing, but they had only known each other as acquaintances, so he simply smiled and gave the other a wave to say hello, "Hey! Sophia! Over here! It's good to see you again!"
After he called out to the archer, he rummaged through his bag for a bottle of sunscreen. That was when another female voice asked a question, and Chester looked around, only to notice the figure that was gifted with such voluptuous features. Man, she was definitely straight out of a fashion magazine, or even for a TV commercial focused on perfume. With a grin, he replied, "Ah, I won't mind more company, so feel free to join in." He then pointed to Sophia to occupy the spot not far from where the two were in at the moment, hoping that she wouldn't mind the invitation. Chester then opened the cap of his sunblock lotion bottle, intending to apply the concoction onto his bare skin.
Sophia continued to roam around the shoreline, watching the crowds of people. The beach started to quickly fill up as most of the best spots along the beach had already been taken. As she was walking around though, she heard a familiar voice call out to her. She looked in the direction the voice came from and she saw Chester sitting on a blanket. Her worst fear came to reality. Someone she knew, a boy, saw her in her swimsuit though most of it was covered up with the jacket. Her face turned a bit red from embarrassment as she gripped her jacket with one hand and waved back at him with the other before walking up to him. It had been a while since they last met when they made some food together. "I-it's been a while. How have things been?"

Once again, Mako's interaction with a humanoid male resulted in not being told to leave upon meeting a new one. It is the kind of reaction that is not unfamiliar to her, even on her home planet, but she always spoke with those of her original species, and in general, they all look highly similar to each other. This is unlike the humanoids of this world, who are all distinct from each other. After he told her that it was okay for her to stay since he does not mind an additional companion, she continued to apply the sunscreen lotion on her arms, followed by her legs, torso, neck, face and the part of her chest not covered by her swimsuit. In the midst of her putting on the lotion on her face, a new humanoid joined them. It was one who he was calling to before, a female by the name of Sophia. If Mako were to compare herself to Sophia, as they are both females in form, they are both about the same height, but other features of their bodies separate the two of them clearly. She spoke rather timidly, but what could be the reason? Mako does not know enough about Sophia to even make an assumption.
At this point, the former applied enough sunscreen to cover most of her body. The only part of her body left to apply the lotion is her back, which can be quite difficult to cover all of it. If Calypso were here, this would not be a problem. Perhaps she could ask either the male or Sophia if they can help her, but Mako should at least introduce herself before asking such a favor. She stood up from her beach towel, bowed toward as one would expect from a Japanese human, although not in the formal 90-degree bow. It was more of a casual nod from the head with a slight bend of her torso towards them. Then she straightened her body and said to them,
"I am Mako. Mako Yokoyama. I am honored to meet you both. If one of you does not mind, can you help apply the sunscreen lotion on my back? I do not mind doing the same for either one of you afterwards."
