That meant she couldn't hide outside anymore, not that she would ever admit that she was hiding of course, and calmed her nerves before approaching the bar, still not paying much mind to Matthew. Oh she took note of him, and even located what weapons he had on him, but past that didn't bother with him yet.

Phoenix on the other hand gave a smile at both of them, calming some it seemed with them there, though she still hurried to get inside.

Even though Gaston had likely broken some sort of speed record by getting this far this quickly, he felt like he'd been dragging his feet the entire way. Great was his relief when the navigational system beeped a reminder. "Finally!"

He activated his comm system. "Blackbird 2S-4708 to BHQ, I am over the insertion point. Ready to activate slave link."

"Slave link is activated." Came the response just before the controls started shifting slightly, now obeying commands of a Balance controller. "We have control. Go for insertion."

Gaston checked to make sure the smallish backpack was securely tethered to him, took one last look at the GPS coordinates, and yanked the SR-71's ejection handles. Immediately, the front cabin's canopy was sent flywing away by a number of small rockets, then the charge under Gaston's seat fired, throwing him out of and clear of the Blackbird. Now in free fall, a small stability chute opened, getting the pilot to a safe orientation and slowing his decent slightly. When a pressure meter read he had fallen to 15000 feet, the main chute opened, allowing Gaston to glide to an easy landing in a park several minutes later.

Moving quickly, even though no one was about this time of night, Gaston detached himself from the harnesss, gathering up the used parachute and stuffing it into a trash cahn. Reaching into a pocket of his flight suit, he opened a packet of thick liquid and poured it into the can. The parachute started to sizzle and pop as it dissolved, leaving behind a residue that would look as if some drunk person had gotten sick there.

At this point, Gaston appeared normal enough...the dark blue Balance flightsuit and vintage RAF jacket from World War II making him appear to be a private pilot getting off shift. The tubular air bladders down the side of the suit, oriignially meant to equalize pressure now served as a nifty sheath for his wakizashi, a shorter version of a katana that matched his tanto. Inside a shoulder holster under his jacket, Gaston secreted away a 50 Caliber Desert Eagle pistol with four extra clips. That done, he slung the small backpack over his shoulder and left the park.

Walking easily down the city streets, he wouldn't have seemed too suspicious. Just an upstanding citizen out late, but not yet unreasonably so. A short time later, he came up the street where Joe's stood. The multiple buzz he received as he approached the place letting him know the others were waiting.

Given the stressful evening, Gaston chose to call MacLeod and announce himself before he would have been in full view of the bar. "Hey...it's me. Figured you all would appreciate not being surprised."

The Ancient Immortal known to the world as the Multi-Billionaire Geno Roads continued to sit in his Mercedes. His thoughts shifted back to his old friend.

[FLASHBACK-Ur, Mesopotamia-c 2100 BCE]

A young man who skin was tanned and his green eyes seemed to shine brightly. The man was built one could say. Built as a warrior and defender of the weak. It would seem that the young man had just arrived in Ur for his clothes were not like the kind worn there. He carried no armor, just his golden bracelets around his wrists and ankles. A golden handle could be seen protruding from a metal sheath around his waist. All that clung to his body for clothes was a dirty white cloth that was fastened to his waist, the sheath was kind of like a belt, it held the cloth on.

Known to him and no else was a secret, one that he had hoped none would have to know about. He was Immortal. Born 2,977 BCE in Egypt. His first death was reached at roughly 3000 BCE.

He gave off this feeling of of being old, people seemed to mutter as he passed through the crowds. The newcomer felt a tingle down his spine and in the base of his skull. He stopped dead in his tracks as he looked around for the source. There only 30 feet in front of him sat two men: One man he hazel-green eyes and dark brown hair, the other he could not really identify well. The newcomer kept his distance as he observed the two.
He blinked.
[END OF FLASHBACK]

He opened his eyes and was back in his Mercedes looking over at his sword. A small smile crept along his lips. Those were the days. He thought happily to himself.

MacLeod sheparded his little Immortal flock through the bar's back entrance, where Joe met them. The Watcher cast Matthew a curious glance, immediately recognizing him from his chronicle, before leading the way in to the closed bar.

"Phoenix," he said with a relieved smile, "I'm glad to see you're in one piece. Mac, where's Adam?"

"A bunch of armed men took him from us," Mac said tightly. "Matthew Bloodturn--" He indicated the young man in gothy garb, "was looking after Adam and Phoenix. He says Adam's lost his memory."

Joe's eyes widened. "All of it?"

MacLeod's cell rang. "Come on in, Gaston," Mac said, answering it. He motioned to Booth to open the front door for the incoming Immortal.

The kid mock-groused as he got to his feet. "What did your last slave die of?"

Kali about choked trying to not laugh, she was back to sitting off to the side, watching looking rather amused, who only knew if she really was or not though. She even manged to behave and not pull her gun on Luana this time around.

Luana had stopped stunned on hearing about Methos losing his memory, cutting a look to Matthew before looking back to Duncan, easily sharing Joe's shock on that, that was a lot of memory to lose.

Standing utterly silent was phoenix, well at lest till she went to sit, only offering a weak smile to Joe, nothing more.

Finally Luana manged to find her tongue, "How did he lose his memory?" She skipped over the part about Gaston, she'd met him, he was an odd one, but that hardly mattered to her at the moment.

Mat blinked stupiedly, he didn't know any of these people, going to stand next to Phoenix, he halfway knew her at lest. "Hey, um, can we get a pad of paper and a pen for birdy chick?"

Gaston has known Methos long enough to recognize a grouse when he sees one, so even though he can't hear what Booth said before the door opens, he can guess the gist of the context. He grins slightly. If Methos is missing, then it's up to one of his better students to be the a**.

He tips Booth a quarter. "Thank you, my good man. Take the luggage up to 1102." He gives a good natured wink and proceeds to leave the poor man alone.

Gaston steps into the bar in time to hear the random memory loss comments. "Now that's going to pose a problem." How to you help a man rediscover his memory without telling everyone else who he really is?

"Oh," Booth quipped. "A wise guy. This is gonna be so much fun."

He rolled his eyes as he relocked the door, then went to get a notepad and pen he had seen up near the register and carried them over to Phoenix. He smiled as he handed them to her. Man, she's beautiful!

Joe edged up to Duncan. "Mac, I need to talk to you in my office."

Duncan nodded, then said to the room at large, "This is Matthew Bloodturn." He indicated the young man standing beside Phoenix's table. "Matthew, please tell everyone how you found Adam, if you don't mind."

"Well, er, was out by the river meditating trying to think of ways to help birdy chick," he liked calling her that for some reason, mainly because a person with the name Phoenix was a bit odd to him, "When this dude walked out of the river freezing to death, that's about it." Nice, short simple, to the point, he liked it, he even gave a grin. So he was in a room with more immortals than he had ever met in his time, but hey, it was all good, hopefully, better be, at which point if it wasn't he wouldn't have a choice to hep out peoples again or not.

There was silence from Luana, what was there to say, given she didn't know why Methos was in the river the explanation did her no good, softly she went to ask just that, "May I ask if anyone knows why M-Adam was in the water?" She was sounding annoyed at the end of the sentence, she had slipped, badly, she never did that, she really was stressed then.

Well since Phoenix had a way to talk she scribbled a simple 'thanks' on the pad and tilted it to show Booth, not that she knew his name, though oddly she had at lest traded a few words with everyone else. She was people friendly, what could she say?She didn't have anything to add to the conversation as of far, she didn't know what all was going on to be truthful, she had spend the last day pretty much sitting in a corner of Mat's hotel room, where she was half wishing she was now.

"Oh that's easy, fight on a pier, he was outnumbered, still kicked their asses, as too much pretty a** lights and swimming he did go." That lovely comment was Kalika, just because she was feeling left out so she had to say something.

"Four heads in rapid succession." Gaston remarked with a nod, remembering what Duncan had told him over the phone. "While a bit punishing, that shouldn't have zapped him enough to lose his memory. Depending on how long he was in the river...he could easily have suffered the trauma down there. Currents, drowning, debris...you get the idea."

As Joe and Duncan head into the office, Gaston glances around at the decidedly motley crew here to help Methos. "So, if you guys were helping Adama, where's he at now? Just got back into town, so I'm a little out of the loop."

Once the door of the office closed behind them, Joe said to MacLeod through clenched teeth, "It's Watchers, Mac. They're trying to effect the Game's outcome."

Duncan's brows lowered like a coming storm, but the fact was he'd considered the possibility since the gunmen had grabbed Methos. "Again?" he growled.

"This time it's all about money," Joe sighed.

"You're welcome," Booth was saying to Phoenix, his cheeks turning pink, when the sound of MacLeod swearing came from the back office.

Adam woke with a choking start when the leader of the horsemen in his dream threw a dagger straight into his heart. He was breathing rapidly, panting in the dark of a swaying vehicle, with the ghost of a tremendous headache fading away. He felt groggy, fuzzy around the edges, and barely reacted when a man laughed near by.

"Shadow Fox is awake," the voice noted.

"Not for long," another voice said, and a boot caught Adam in the ribs.

Adam grunted in surprise and pain as a third voice said, "Lay off, Red. That's what this stuff is for."

Adam struggled as his arm was grabbed, realizing that his sweatshirt was gone and he was handcuffed so tightly his hands were numb. "I took a bullet getting this sucker," Red's voice groused. "I think he owes me a bit back."

A needle slid into Adam's arm as his current attacker said, "Later."

Adam fought it, but a moment later he had slipped back into blackness. A blackness where two red eyes glowed malevolently out at him.

"He got snatched at Waffle House of all places." Luana answered tightly, not at all pleased with the answer, "Which leads to question as to how they knew we were meeting up there."

"Tap phones." Kali muttered with a shrug, "Again not that hard to do this day and age, you can by the s**t at a radio shack to do it if you know how."

Phoenix blinked at Booth's blush, and gave a shrug, but oh well, and went to write something down and showing it to Booth, he was closest at the moment really, 'Can you ask them why anyones kidnapping Adam at all? I mean is it normal for people to kidnapped around here or something? Is anyone else missing? Are there any leads on who it is? What are we going to do if we do get a lead?' She included herself in on the 'we' part simply because Adam was a friend and she was kind fond of him being non missing like.

Gaston makes a face. "Waffle House? Yes, Adam is definitely not himself. He was always more of a Denny's Grand Slam Breakfast man." Joking aside, he gestures to the back office. "I'm guessing those to have a thought on what might be going on." MacLeod is loud when he's angry, after all.

He notices Phoenix scribbling instead of talking, and pats himself down. Quickly discovering a kneeboard still attached to the flightsuit, he scribbles a quick message. "Are you OK? I don't remember you being a mute..."
