The Bookstore Dilemma

so i'm out at Borders w/ my step parents and they don't know about Yaoi. they said i could pick out two books that i wanted and they would by them. As most of you Borders has a great selection and i didn't think anything of it niether did my stepmom. that was until my 7 yearold little sister tryed to read over my shoulder

Well, I was at the bookstore thumbing through Loveless and Gravitation when a few men were staring at me curiously. I was like... whatever and kept reading and one of them got a volume of Loveless to see what it was and he jumped slightly and put the book back up and ran away. Pfft, ignorant people. I was surprised that the Stores Clerk ( which was a guy) said he loved the series Loveless when I bought a volume of it. So being at the book sotre to buy BL is rather funny.

Well... that has actually rarely happened to me. I always go to the Mall with my friend who also likes Yaoi... ^^ but this one time... my sister had gone to the mall with her Friend and took me along.... so i was left alone looking at the Manga section/Yaoi section.... lol... then... well i got like 3 books...

Well. once i got my little Corner this Lady... well Girl.. she couldn't have been much older than me (at the time) ... so i say around 17 or 18 and well she went to the Yaoi Section.. i was Reading Our Everlasting and when i looked up i kept seeing her glance over her Shoulder... she was so jumpy!! lol.. i couldn't help but giggle cuz i mean... i had these 3 books and i guess she didn't notice but she was so shy over people looking at what she was reading... and it got me thinking that maybe she was a little embarrassed over being seen that she likes Yaoi.. idk... that kinda made me sad.. i mean... you shouldn't be Ashamed Right?... ^^ haha I flaunt it!! lol..

Yaoi and Shounen Ai is very hard to buy when you have your Christian step father tailing you around an anime store... Yeah, just this last week I was paying a visit to my mother... Well mom had to do something with my sister for a while so I asked for a ride to the mall... My step dad decided to come in with me... sweatdrop Man, I'm 20 years old, but he still flips out when he sees anything that has "M Mature readers only" in a little black box on the cover... Even if said cover has a guy and a GIRL on it *sigh*. I managed though... swiped one when he wasn't looking >> <<

Whenever I'm at the Borders (which is alot) reading yaoi or even other manga I end up talking to one of the clerks there alot about all of the yaoi i'm reading. She always has something to say about the books. It's so much fun!

i get embarassed when buying yaoi or bl manga and my friends know and laugh at me....very awkward when i had to explain a yaoi to some old lady that worked at the bookstore and that was a weird experience

Most of the time i'm the only one in the yaoi section sweatdrop . but me and my friend is thinking about going to the bookstore together. i would order the books online but if my dad ever found out i have a yaoi book, he'll burn it. eek

D; My nearest Borders only has like 5 yaoi titles. The big yummy one in the city doesn't even have a yaoi section... it's all just stuck in there in the general manga shelf gonk crying

I get self-concious buying it at bookstores, especially if it's extreamly obvious. I keep expecting the chasiers to say something or laugh about me after I leave. And if it's wrapped for "18"plus i get terrified that they're going to ask me how old I am and make a big deal out of it.
I know that's silly but my bookstore is right outside my town and I vaugely know alot of people there. sweatdrop

I was in Waterstones, I wanted to get Loveless (I'd seen it a few times, but didn't know if I should get it or not. Eventually my mum (I hate going shopping with her) got bored and went to go look at books up stairs. I picked it up and saw it had a '16+' written on the back - I'm only thirteen. I decided to risk it and bought it, along with some DeathNote volumes. The cashier probably didn't even notice the rating, and my mum must have thought it was shojo, because she didn't say anything, she didn't even ask what they were about, because I usually talk for about two hours about it... sweatdrop
I asked her to get me the Ouran High School Host Club manga, and she was sat next to me as I ordered it. She gave me a questioning look, but didn't say anything. She probably assumed Haruhi was guy. It finally arrived today, after about two weeks. But it was only volume two, I'd ordered one to three. cry
