Shun took a step back, narrowing his eye at AJ. There was something wrong with that kid, though he wasn't sure if this was how he normally was, or if something else was at play here. His attention flitted between him and a few others who could be seen wearing the bracelet, as well as the two quarreling gangs in the room. A fight was bound to break out at any moment at this rate. And chances were that the students would be caught up in the crossfire. He didn't want to really get directly involved with the fight itself, lest either side think he's choosing a side, but he planned on stabbing any that decided to turn their sights on the students.

It was bound to happen.

"You should not trust either of them, Edel," he confirmed quietly to the ice demon.

Looking back over towards AJ and a few others gathered around the red beam of light, he furrowed his brow. Sticking your hands into that thing did not seem like the best idea to him. Really.

Nobody answers. Either they didn't hear him or just decided not to answer. Something was forming in the beam, though it wasn't solid enough to actually grab yet.

Whatever else was happening, Yaya was blind to it in her current state. She didn't see, didn't hear, beyond the wash of red tinting narrowed eyes or the pounding beat of her heart in her ears.

Usually the marid had excellent control over herself and her abilities, but each step the ghoul took left a perfectly formed wet foot print in her wake. High emotions were unraveling her handle on her abilities. Magic was quite literally leaking from tanned extremities. Even the tips of slender fingers dripped. If she didn't calm soon they could very well have a storm on their hands in the most literal sense of the word.

Sharra bravely stepped up to try to cool the ghoul's fury, grabbing for her arm to turn her back to him, and the arc of water that erupted from her hand missed him by the thinnest of margins as her eyes found his. "What?" It came out growled, deep as thunder, before a flash of magenta made her blink.

"West?" Had he followed her? Why?

The last thing that they needed was for the water-based djinn to bring down a maelstrom right in the middle of an underground cavern of all things. Though that might have had interesting effects for all involved, Sharra wasn’t too keen on it, as things were already in enough of an uproar. Finding even the brush of his hands coming away with water droplets, he didn’t step back so much as slide his torso slightly to the right, a move that, blessedly, had the desired outcome as her Jetstream reflexes managed to avoid clipping him by an inch at best.

“Yaya…you look like you’re about to drown us all.” It was a calm statement, the Nergal’s voice low and soothing, not trying to coax her into any particular action and not at all daring to command her. Instead it was merely an attempt to bring the ghoul back into the current moment, and not where she was currently spinning in the whirlpool of emotions that the events of the last few minutes had left her adrift in.

The gaze that the blond boil tossed towards West was careful, not at all sure what the other demon would make of his presence here. It had been a mixed bag of reviews since Sharra had worked up the gall to come back to Amityville.

He didn't touch her, though he wanted to. She was a blazing beacon of fury, and despite the fact that West didn't like seeing his closest friend so broken in theory, in reality it was all quite beautiful.

"You're very angry," he said, not bothering to stifle his grin. Thanks, Captain Obvious. Registering another body nearby, he noticed Sharra and his smile faded. It was distressing that he had been so focused on Yaya that he hadn't noticed the nergal, but he brushed it off as a rookie mistake born from his surprise in seeing her again. "Is he causin' trouble?" Or was it that other boil he'd met that one time? The fae? "'Cause I can take care of that for you."

"Your loud ambition will make you fall," she commented to the boil next to her. She had seen AJ and the way he rushed into things headlong, too intent on making a name for himself, on making a show out of himself. She flexed her own fingers within the light before withdrawing it. Of course, she too wanted to locate the ring and prove herself worthy of something, but the way AJ went about it rubbed her the wrong way. Everyone wanted to make something of themselves, but... She edged away from him and his soaked clothing.

It seemed they needed to wait. Hollandaise watched the simmering tensions between the two groups. "What should we do, though?" she asked of anyone who might be listening, ending the question with a creaking hum. Her eyes strayed to the shadows that waited. Idly, she pushed her fingers back in, then up to the wrist, covering the bracelet. It was strange, not quite simple light, not quite solid.

If she just judged from the few times she saw him, then she probably just a shallow ghoul having prejudices. She couldn't see behind his acting last time and his intention this time. It might be just jealousy that blinded her eyes from seeing the truth, when she can't do things according to her plans. AJ'd returned her with a "Not bigger than yours." The boil disliked ghouls so full of herself, like the witch who was the leader of the team but did nothing to instruct her teammates to act with the others. They were only great at their mouths and shallow opinion.

Who didn't want to prove themselves worth of something? It was just the boil took the first step while she was late. Neither him or her was calm and cool-minded creepson, regarding to what she had done in that dream about Great Knights. She might be just sick of seeing her own reflection.

Drown them all...

Tempting, that. The idea of it circled through her mind a time or two, appealing, and just how much shown for a moment in glowing eyes as she stated back at the nergal. It would have solved so many things, taken away everything that weighed so heavily on her heart and on her shoulders. It was a little alarming how very tempting the notion was. "Do I? Gee, I wonder why?" Of course realizing how utterly cold the thoughts were did help her reign in a sliver of control.

West's stating of the obvious earned little more than a cool state from Yaya, eyes narrowing at that flicker of a grin, but the question and the offer of help redeemed him. She sighed hotly, crossing her arms in a defensive fold over her stomach as she shook her head. "No, not this time." Not today, at least.

It was, intact, the other boil. Marosa had managed to irk his usually serene fiancé, and event after event left the finn feeling nothing but contempt and infuriating worry. At this point it was a wonder she hadn't torn the ring off her left finger and thrown it at him, but that would be a level of Hastings that even she hadn't reached quite yet.

Bright eyes flicker between the boils, glaring back through the crowd, but she couldn't see the halo of ginger hair or golden eyes. "I cannot keep doing this," she finally admitted, glancing up at West before leveling a meaningful look on Sharra. "It's too much." She grit her teeth, grip on herself tightening. "It will break me."

Sharra put up both of his hands in a motion half a shrug, and the other portion something of a surrender, whether that was for West or Yaya or both, he was uncertain. Good to know that friends had the djinn’s back, at least. “I know. But I think this situation is putting more than a few of us into difficult positions…” His gaze darted back over from the direction they’d come, “…I think some creeple are a touch unsettled.” Or at least, from the brief synopsis he’d gotten from his five-second perusal of the assembled crow; to be frank he didn’t know what he was going to do if he had to try and stop more than one catastrophe.

Trying to wrangle the fey boil who was SUPPOSED to have been the priority, but considering their history, the Nergal was all too aware of where Hadiyya was coming from on this. In fact, he found himself very relieved not to have been the perpetrator of her tidal wave on this occasion. It didn’t mean that it decreased the ache the demon boil was experiencing, guilt for being one of her stressors, past and present, with no real settlement in sight. “I know.” It was soft, apologetic. “But let’s figure this one, at least. I can’t exactly speak for Marosa, but I’m pretty sure neither of us are trying to earn a dousing.” Still somber, but fond. “Well, he might be if he keeps going stir-crazy and escaping his sick-bed.” A long sigh became the footnote to that admission.

It was the reason both he and the ghoul were even here.

They were speaking of things he knew nothing about, serious things, and it made West faintly jealous that he had missed enough of her life that her problems were near incomprehensible to him now. There was talk of Marosa—that was his name—and sick beds and... the boil was here? West recalled kilts and a certain style of insect wing, but he had noticed neither of those on anyone who had found their way down here. He stepped back a half step and gave Yaya a short nod, arms crossing as he watched her and Sharra. He was there if she needed him. Otherwise he wouldn't get involved. He could only make her angrier anyway.

Gene stood with folded arms as she watched West leave, more than a little curious what that was all about. It seemed personal, though, and Gene wasn't going to get herself involved in someone's more private affairs.

She then noticed the amassed crowd of thugs, the students acting strangely, and the red pillar of light. Jack, what in Halloween was even going on here?

The doppelgänger rounded on the two squabbling groups of thigs first, Living Armor gauntlets shifting to dragon's talons, scales slowly spreading up her arms and to her face, speaking the bridge of her nose and her cheeks. "You need to leave. Now." Her command was punctuated by a menacing ball of ectoplasm building up in her balled fists, pulsing. "Any harm done to my kids will be repaid 50 times over.

---

Durge, meanwhile, was staring at the red beam with wide eyes and a slack jaw. Could it be...Halloween's largest laser pointer?

He had to catch it.

With more enthusiasm than probably ever necessary, Dirge leapt through the red beam, hands wide open.

Perhaps not the best choice of words on the Nergal's part. The djinn's lip curled, nails biting into her arms as tension sang through every fiber of her being. "Difficult position? It didn't look all that difficult from where I was standing." Venom coated each word. Of course she meant the gancanaugh, and the compromising position she'd caught him in moments before. Maybe there was more to the story that she wasn't aware of, but just then it didn't matter. It wasn't just what she'd seen, it was crawling out of bed still injured, it was rushing off at prom and putting himself in danger in the first place, while summing Sharra back into their lives to play guardian.

She huffed at his observation that folks were unsettled. Unsettled didn't even begin to cover how the ghoul was feeling, and she still didn't have a clue as to what was actually happening in the school. Some disaster, or emergency, though she had not had leave enough from her personal life yet to figure out what all the fuss was about.

One disaster at a time...

Of the boils, she was starting to wondering if perhaps Sharra understood her feelings just a bit better than their headstrong fey. Though Sharra had always understood her well. Its why they had fallen so hard for each other in their first year, why it had hurt so much when he left, twice. Why she had been so willing to write him out of her life before Marosa pulled him back in.

Of course she did love the gancanaugh. He was her rock, her sweet boil, the one she had agreed to spend the rest of her life with. So why did it feel like he was doing everything in his power to infuriate her lately?

Yaya didn't know what to do. She was at a complete loss, and an escape from everything for more than a few hours would have done wonders for the djinn's stress level, but there was no break in sight. A noise escaped her, all pent up emotions--frustration and anxiety--as she brought hands up to smooth palms down her face. Through slender fingers she turned blue eyes on West. How did he live with so much anger all the time. Yaya felt like it was slowly eating her alive.

Things were getting really crazy now... AJ just seemed to lose it more and more, while other creeple came to his aid... It all seemed for naught however... The more they tried to help him... The worst he seemed to get...

It soon got even worst... A ginger haired boil, that reminded her of the highlanders that lived near Mouseshire, stepped up to AJ... Soon, the boil was in a rather compromising position... which had another tanned ghoul furious! And then there was water... The Dormouse ghoul was glad now she'd moved when she did! And of course Andrew was now out of the picture...

Tensions continued to rise, not just between the gangs, but also between the students and Alumni! "Oh dear..." she whispers worriedly as she watches all the different groups... When that ring did come, oh the chaos... Frowning, Camilla looks to the tanned ghoul... She seemed very upset...

Finally, she moves over to the ghoul and taps her lightly on the shoulder. "Um... Miss? If your upset about how AJ was holding that boil... It's not as bad as it looks! AJ is acting very strange and we've all just been trying to get him to calm down..." She explains honestly. Camilla didn't know the relationship between the tanned ghoul and ginger haired boil, but the way AJ held him really upset this ghoul. So the boil must be important to her right? The Dormouse ghoul hoped explaining the situation would ease the tanned ghoul's mind...

Lol, Camilla's trying to ease at least one bit of tension!

Nothing happened to the ones poking around or jumping through the light beam. It just felt a little weird. But nothing happened.

One of the Black Sands glanced at Gene before giving a laugh.

"A little young to have so many scarelings of your own, aren't you? Kids these days. Stay out of this. This is belong them and us."

Mathias had followed along as everything occurred, watching each stage of the puzzle and how it was solved. He saw no need to involve himself at this point, not terrible at puzzles himself but also not in the mood to work with what was becoming a larger and larger group of individuals.

Instead, he kept to himself, and when his friends moved (all two of them) he moved along behind them, silently taking in everything that was happening.

Which appeared to be a lot of unnecessary drama, really. Mainly from the boil who he'd already decided on a previous occasion that he did not like in the slightest, the one with the serpent head sprouting from his rather ridiculous a**.

When the beam of light fell and Holly thrust her hand inside, he took a step forward, reaching towards her himself, but only out of concern. Instead, A.J. had grabbed her and flung her hand away, an action that elicited a loud snarl from Mathias's throat, though it seemed that Holly could take care of herself.

Still, when she put her hand in the light again, Mathias very carefully put himself between her and the boil who was acting like a complete idiot, just in case a second assault should occur. He, like many, had little idea what was going on. He, like everyone else with a Fear amp, was just as curious about whether this might be the path that would lead them to the ring that they were to be seeking. He gave A.J. a long, narrow eyed look from where he stood.

"Do not be losing your head, boil, unless you vould be liking me to remove vun for you, because I vould happily be obliging." He snarked, unable to hold the words in any longer.

And then he witnessed Dirge do something just....really weird. Really, really, weird.

"Ah, bro....?" He questioned, his eyebrows raising higher than he thought possible to raise them, the other boils actions a bit of a distraction.
