Before long Shan had brought the soup out to the table, hurrying back in as soon as he was done. By now the slaves had finished everything, which was strange because usually the whole place would be busy the whole time the master was eating.

He couldn't help but think something was wrong. There were those whispers again, and everybody was staring at him. What could they possibly be thinking? What did they want? What were they planning?

Kanda nodded in thanks as he ate his food. Though he felt a bit uneasy..Usually he would see hustling and bustling but he heard nothing. and it kinda gave him a dreary feeling. There wasn't even a slave out in the dining rooma nd at least one stayed to see if he needed anything. Kanda stopped eating then got up and went to the kitchen door. He was about to open it when he stooped in hid-stride, hearing the other slaves asking questions to Shan about him and Kanda's relationship.

The questions seemed to be flowing towards Shan like a huge tsunami. He tried his best to convince the slaves that everything was just a rumor, but each time his answers seemed to stab at his heart. He was scared then and eventually he couldn't talk anymore. What was this feeling? Why was it bothering him so?

He could only decipher one thing. Despite everything that has happened, Shan had fallen in love with the master. It was a terrible, forbidden kind of affection from a slave to the master, especially if they're both men. In that case, Shan would have to keep his feelings a secret.

'Persistent gossipers.' Kanda thought as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He then let go and opened the door and leaned on the wall. "Oi. Don't you all have jobs to do." He asked in an irritated voice as the slaves all eeped and went to do their jobs.

He looked at shan, feeling a little flutter in his heart, not used to it but dismissed it as he called him over with a becoming finger. "come here." He said as he waited at the door.

Shan released a huge sigh of relief as the fellow slaves left him alone, but now he was once again afraid. What could the master probably want? Hesitantly, Shan walked toward the door, his heart's beating accelerated the closer he did get there.

He looked very shyly up at the master. A blush soon decorated his face and Shan forced himself to look away. Just because he was already falling in love didn't mean he can let his emotions control him. Why can't he hide it all?

Kanda waited as Shan came up to him and raised an eyebrow as he looked down but did nothing of it as he looked at the boy for a moment. "Get me more soup. Then do the laundry." Kanda said simply as he turned then went bak to the table; acting like nothing had happened as he waited for the soup.

Shan nodded, immediately going back to the pot he had abandoned and drawing soup from it. After filling the bowl he hurried to the dining room and set it on the table before rushing away to do the laundry. He walked very quickly to the laundry room so he wouldn't give his fellow slaves a chance to bombard him with questions.

As he was doing the laundry, Shan couldn't help but keep getting lost in thought. What's the matter with him? He should just forget about this strange and sudden love and move on... right?

Kanda ate his soup in silence as the slaves did their chores. When he finished it thirty minutes later, he got up and headed to his room. He walked and could still hear a few murmurs around the house but ignored them as he opened his door then closed it behind him.

He went to his draw then pulled out a pair of sweats and changed. He then laid in bed then went to bed as he slept..

After he finished doing the laundry, which had taken him an hour, Shan walked back up to his room. The whispers had died down by now, thankfully, so Shan didn't have to walk so quickly. The rumors are finally gone, at least for now.

"Where did they all get the idea anyway?" Shan asked himself. "The master and I are obviously not together. Why would I like someone who keeps hurting me?" He stopped in his tracks. "Well, for some reason I do like him, but I don't understand why."

Kanda opened his eyes when the rays from the outside entered his blinds. He blinked since it momentarily blinded him then his eyes adjusted and he just groaned in irritation. "stupid sun..." He said as he got up and scratched his head as his already scowled face became more sour.

Why did the sun like to do that? What is the purpose of the blinds if they don't block out the sun properly? All these questions went through Kanda's head as he got up from his bed and headed out the door. He walked through the hall without the shirt on and headed to the dojo to get some training and relaxation on his part in.

Shan woke up as the sun shined in his eyes, but he felt extremely weak. It was quite reasonable, since he never bothered to eat anything for probably the past couple of days. Well, Shan knew he can't just lay in bed. He had to hurry to the kitchen or else the master would get angry.

As he tried to stand up, he immediately collapsed. It looks like malnutrition, so Shan made a note to join the slaves in their own breakfast later. With the help of a staff that had been leaning on the bed, Shan was at least able to make it to the door and open it so he could leave. Just trying to walk made him feel very tired, and there was no question why.

Kanda walked through the halls then noticed Shan and gave a confused look. the boy was using a cane,,,,,,that was not a good sign. Kanda scratched the back of his head as he sighed then rolled his eyes. He might as well check on him, slaves that were sick was not able to work.

He walked up to Shan then tapped him on the shoulder. "Oi." He simply said as he looked the boy over, 'He hasn't eaten..' Kanda deducted as he saw the lifelessness and dead look the boy gave as well as the slight growling he heard from his stomach. the boy probably hasn't eaten for about three days or so.

"Eh? Oh, good morning, Master," Shan said, halting in his tracks and trying to keep standing. "I was just going to the kitchen to help make breakfast for you, so don't mind me." He then continued to walk, though it didn't seem like he was moving at all.

Kanda grabbed the back of his shirt and stopped him, although he didn't need it as he looked at him. "How long has t been since you've eaten?" He asked as he looked into Shan's eyes. If he lied, he would know.

Shan then felt a bit nervous at the master's stare. It wasn't the same cruel or annoyed stare that he had been used to, but it was still frightening. As he tried to find the words to answer, Shan was having a terrible time deciding whether or not he should lie.

Eventually, the side that told him to tell the truth won. "I believe it's been at least two days," he said. "I never really saw a need to eat. The other slaves seemed to need food more than I do."
