Eva smiled. "I'm glad you like it. It's my own recipe." She continued to eat her food. In the middle of it, Riley came up to her and rubbed her leg. "Alright, I get it." She smiled. Eva got up and fed Riley. Riley ate with joy and Eva sat back down. She ate her dinner and then looked up at Alex. "You know, I've been asking you questions for days. Do you have anything for me?" She asked.

Alex shrugged a little. "Yeah, but I'm pretty sure you're not gonna want to answer them." He said as he started to eat his meal.

Eva took another bite into her food. "Try me. Although, you maybe right. I might not answer. So don't get offended." She sat there and waited for him.

Alex nodded. "Ok. For starters, why did you burn the package the other day?"

Eva winced. "Should have seen that one coming." She said to herself. Eva put their empty plates in the sink to stall for time but she knew she had to tell him sooner or later. But maybe she didn't have to tell him the whole story. Eva stayed there at the sink and looked out the window that was in front of her. "It was just something in my past that I didn't want see again." She nodded to herself.
Yeah, that's good. It's the truth and you didn't have to tell him the whole thing. Good job. Eva thought to herself. So why couldn't she look at him?

Alex nodded slowly. "Ok then..." He said softly. He was still curious, but he didn't want to press it out of her.

Eva nodded again and sighed. "Yeah. Next question.......please." She asked. Eva didn't want to tell him the whole story about the package. She never wanted to talk about her past. She wanted to keep it in the past.

She turned around but when she looked into his eyes she couldn't even say one word to him. Eva turned back around and stared out the window.
Darn those eyes of his. Eva placed her hands on the sink and sighed.
"Excuse me." She said without looking at him. Eva ran up the stairs and collapsed on the bed. She grabbed a pillow and screamed into it.
I can't even look at him!

Alex blinked as he watched her and then again when she took off upstairs. "Eva...?" He said to himself mostly as he stared at the stairs perplexed.

Riley ran up the stairs but stopped at the top. She meowed at Alex. For some reason, tears were running down Eva's face. She wanted to tell him but it was hard. He would see her differently. He may never even talk to her again. "Why can't I do it?" She screamed into the pillow.

Alex got up and looked at the cat. "Obviously she wants privacy, and I respect that." He blinked. "I'm arguing with a cat."

Riley ran back down the stairs and rubbed on his legs. She ran up a few steps and meowed again. She did this several times until he got the message. Eva lied on the bed, hot tears running down her cheeks. The memories flashed in her mind and one in particular made her throw the pillow across the room. She moved to the top of the bed and hugged another pillow. Eva couldn't face him. Not like this.

Alex sighed and started to go up the stairs. "I hope you're happy Riley." He shook his head chuckling a little. He stopped outside of her room and knocked on the door. "Hey Eva... I'm sorry if I offended you."

Eva tensed. "You didn't offend me." She said to the door. "You can come in." He opened the door and Riley ran up to Eva. "Hey sweetie." She said to the cat. "If you want to know what was in the package, I suggest you come sit down. It maybe a long story."
