At least you can easily tell whether a science textbook is out of date or not.
Is Pluto a planet or not?
I find the whole planet-rescinding-thing to be very silly. If we called it a planet in the 20th century, then why did we have to call it something else several decades later?

That follows the same logic as calling the Plague God's punishment to the non-believers. Besides, we're human, we love categorizing everything and reorganizing every few hundred years. Just look at all the time and energy spent on defining what is considered an animal.
