I snickered. She actually accused me of mocking "teh poor Romany ppl!" I said if she's Romany, I'm a gold fish, and her "magic" (complete with air quotes) is about as authentically Rroma as a Disney Movie.

I mean, granted, there's an element of truth in that statement. White people did steal land from the natives. Aside from that, though...

Yeah. It was part of the reason I left Christianity temporarily coupled with my first encounter with bigoted fundies while I was in college.

I think it's because of the fundies and lack of good teachers of Christianity why Christianity has become such a scapegoat.
