Well, when I go to my home planet, aka Barnes&Nobles,
I stay there for like hours and hours and I always do find
at least one other person looking through BL and such. Do I
talk to them? No, especially when I'm too wrapped up in
my own book :3

Okay, I've never actually bought a BL book, mainly because I can't afford it, but I do go to the public Library for it. (I couldn't believe my eyes when I found Gravitation and Loveless stuck in between a copy of DBZ and Prince of Tennis) Anyway, during the summer, most parents would force their kids to do volunteer hours, and on one specific day, this guy I really liked from my homeroom class was working at the library.
And, when I went to check out the BL i had gotten, I was blushing madly, because he read the back of each book, and even skimmed through a few when checking them out for me. redface Anyway, they were all pretty tame, except this one, which, he turned bright red at, and then quickly finished his job, and I left.

He hasn't spoken to me since... emo emo

I'm too shy to introduce myself. People mind their own business around here too, so it would be hard. I just browse, grab my manga, and trudge over to the checkout counter praying that the salesperson doesn't say anything about "How old are you? Are you sure you want to buy this? Blah blah blah."

I'm rather open about buying my yaoi. XD I've asked the sale's clerk several times if I can call my mom for permission because they asked one day and found out I was not 18 yet. o.o; I can't wait until my idiot turns 18 so she can buy it for me. She's the idiot who runs around announcing what I'm buying. That's okay though; I don't let her borrow any manga from me anymore.

This wasn't in a bookstore, but, once I was at my school hanging out with some people (who are boys). They know I like shonen-ai, and I was trying to prove to them that Trash isn't shonen-ai (even though it is), and I accidently flipped to the page where that one guy (can't remember his name sweatdrop ) was trying to suck the creampuff crumbs out of the main characters mouth. Now everytime I talk about anime they yell "CREAMPUFFS!"

lol.

Something similar happened to me, actually. Well, in that it was at school, anyhow. I was reading a manga under the table in Maths. And, well, the teacher took it off me.

Yeah.

What was happening on the page she flipped to is not the kind of thing one shows to one's Maths teacher.

I dunno what's so embarrassing about it. I openly look for shounen ai manga in the bookstore, and make comments to my friends who happen to be there about how I wish there was more. Also, when I was reading Yellow, (yaoi manga, for those that don't know it) I left it on my desk in Science class and on the table at home. My mom actually picked it up and started looking through it and asking me questions like "Are those two boys? Are they gay?" "Yes, mother, those are both guys. No, only one of them is gay." Anyway, I don't think it's a big deal, even less so for girls, I'd think.

I've had a somewhat different experience. xD

I was getting a .Hack manga, and I thought it was innocent, but apparently on the first page, there's this art of Rena being naked in a hot spring.

Well, the bar code being on the first page of the book, and Rena being the loli piece of jailbait she is, when I took my book up to the counter, and the guy scanned, he looked flustered and quickly shoved the book closed and handed it to me. xDD It was quite amusing.

But I never actually buy yaoi from bookstores, for reasons of embarrassment and my parents can't ever be allowed to find concrete evidence of my interest in such things. But I do browse through them in the aisles, albeit, I hide the cover and the pages as much as I can. =P

It seems like every time I intend to buy BL, I go up to the cash register and a cute male employee is there to ring me up. It makes me feel a bit odd when buying things with titles like "KISSING" with two guys on the cover X3.

It's funny cause I work at a bookstore (mostly cafe). What is funny is that we can ring up books at the cafe and everytime I see a yaoi or a book of homosexuality I chuckle inside. I also like to play "Guess Who's Gay!" I have a very excellent gaydar. ninja

The only time I've ever done anything of the likes is when I ordered my Wild Rock from Borders. There was a male cashier there with a Evangelion shirt on. I couldn't tell if he was a otaku or gay, I just was embarressed when I picked up. (Crummy story. I'm tired so please forgive me.) I had to order it to be sent to the store though.

I had a different scenario a few weeks ago...

This was before my ipod was stolen ( crying )

So in spanish class when my friend jose still sat across from me, we had a substitute.

Jose alreayd knows about my anime obsession...s ince I just happened to blurt it out to him a days after we met...lol (and a little about shounen-ai....when I began to comment how axel and roxas were gay for eachother.) which is why nowadays he likes to call me jewish.... -__-;

So I took out my ipod...because I wanted to listen to my music. Jose got curious of what was on my ipod, so for a few minute we were discussing whatever was on my ipod...music etc.

I did not see this coming. He went to my image gallery.

and went into a state of shock when he saw all my favorite yaoi piccys on there. (some of them were explicit... >.>)

he went>>> "WTF!" O__O;

once he saw the one with dracoXharry.... I took it out of his hands and made some lame excuse about how I can't figure out why my itunes syncs my photos.

so now... when I mentioned to him about my ipod being stolen he was like. "dude all your hentai is on there!!! ja ja ja!" >___<

It's kind of funny realy, I get my Grandmother to take me most of the time. At first, I was self conserned about her seeing the "Explict Content" Warning on the front. I don't think that she noticed that it was two guys. That or she doesn't pay that much attition. My mum is fine with it. One time, me and my boyfriend were sitting in my room when she walks in. It's not like we were doing anything. She looked at the ground, and I have printed out a BUNCH of Yaoi pictures, and just said, "Listen, I don't care if you like that gay porn s**t, but put it in a spot where I don't have to see it." It was a funny moment, considering that my boyfriend, which my mum didn't know I was dating, was sitting next to me laughing his a** off.
Oh Yaoi gods, Thank you for all the fun times.

Question!
So, um, I have a question about Borders.
when they scan your book, do they see the rating on the screen or not?
Because sometimes, the price tag is covering the little rating-box thingy...
