Okay...it somewhat frightens me when the younger boy is Uke. Only sometimes. There are some exceptions. (Tatsuha Uesugi x Ryuichi Sakuma- Gravitation)

I HATE rape fics when the victim enjoys it, falls in love with the person who raped him, has no mental trauma afterward, or get 'comfort sex' from their boyfriend the next day and that makes everything okay. Um, NO. I especially hate the last example. A friend of mine was raped when we were younger, so I'm really touchy about rape victims being portrayed incorrectly. That's not to say I won't read a rape fic, but it has to be done right, and not glorified at all.

Extremely uke characters. They seem so spineless and agitating.
Abusive semes as well... those are also very irritating.
I also dislike characters that look overly feminine, or are the "big strong manly seme" that is always paired up with the girly whiny, annoying uke.
God. I hate Yuki from Gravitation now that I think of it.
Anyway, I also dislike a plot that is not deep. God damn, have some substance.

I don't think I've posted here yet, sorry if I have. ninja
Mainly I don't like the fact that many yaoi lack any type of serious/interesting plot. I almost like slash better, because yaoi stories... Well, I like Manga better. I can actually say there are yaoi manga I like and they have plots of some kind.
Aside from that I don't really have any other complaints. I would've loved it if Kyou Kara Maou had been more yaoi, while maintaining the character's personalities and the plot.
Admittedly part of the blandness of yaoi plots are to blame on the character's cliche roles. I also don't like whiny-hyper active ukes.

I really don't like the very mean Uke's. D: The one's that are stubborn and who yell a lot. Dx
I hate that for every character, but the Uke's seem to get me a little irratated.

For-Chan Cookie What are your Pet Peeves in yaoi? Is it the way certain characters act? Is it certain fans? What are some of the things that really annoy you about yaoi/BL? How every character has to be labeled as "seme" or "uke", labels which are narrow and stereotypical and make even complex yaoi series seem superficial!

I seem to have the same opinion as many people who have posted in this forum. I really do NOT like Yaoi where one of the characters is raped (sometimes repeatedly) and is either okay or not okay, but still ends up falling in love with the one who raped them. It drives me insane, >.< evil

Seijaku_Ishida 1) Rape in which afterwards, the character has no mental trauma. Non-con, I can stand, but even if...nay, ESPECIALLY if a character enjoys it...there will be emotional damage done. 2) Girly ukes. I'm actually starting to dislike the whole seme/uke thing as a whole. Ukes are VERY often very feminine and are often doing 'womanly' things. 3) Self-lubricating ukes. 'nuff said. I have a few more, but those are the ones that get on my nerves the most. I agree.
Rape victims would have slight trauma.
Girly ukes I LOATHE. I know that may be what an 'uke' is but I dislike the term anway. If I wanted a girl I'd be into het or other. And I couldn't agree more on the last part, 'ukes' doing cute things is alright, of course, but when they act just like a female and do womanly things as you say it's just so annoyingly stereotypical. And out-of-character.
I don't encounter much self lubricating ukes but I do dislike it, I guess.
Other pet peeves are, too much OOC, raging obsessed fangirls, fangirls who make the smaller of the two automatically uke because of his height or looks, authors who make the character that's taller in anime/game shorter/thinner in the fic just so they can play the uke. Stuff like that really bugs me.

Ugh... My pet peeves in yaoi:
1) Over-bashing of female characters. There's way too much hate going around in regards to the girls/women in a story. I mean, if you don't like the character because she gets in the way of your couple then pair her with someone else. If you don't like her period then avoid her like she's plague; spreading hate through bashing doesn't do anyone any good. All it does is spread hate and offend people, creating even more hate. ~scowls~ Now that disgusts me. (And this may also be applied to het and yuri as well. Hate is my pet peeve over all pet peeves)
2) The roles of seme/uke. I love seme/uke. I really do. I especially think that it's fun when you've got two very masculine guys competing with each other for the chance to top. However, I think that people take it way too overboard. I mean, when a character is deemed "uke" it becomes mandatory that they're cute, oblivious, partially blind and clueless, and innocent, even though the actual character's personality may completely contradict that. Uzumaki Naruto, for example, is brute strength and while he may be clueless he's tough and competitive and, ~gasps~ dare I say it?, masculine. However, many yaoi fans tend to label him the "uke" since he's rather cute in the first part of the series and they completely change his character. That bothers me; it says that fans don't know how to analyze a characters personality correctly.
3) Ehhh... I don't really have a three. Hehe! rofl

1 - Most yaoi/shonenai animes get on my nerves: it takes away the chance to come up with fanfiction ideas. It's not much fun for me to imagine fluffy scenes when it's packed with many of 'em (although it's entertaining to watch twisted 4laugh ).
2 - Sure they're gay, but they're MEN, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!! scream They don't have to be girly 24/7!!!! At least give them some of their masculinity! scream scream
3 - Um, there are such thing as WOMEN in society? There should be more girls in yaoi animes!

What annoys me about curtain yaoi's is when they make one of the characters so dumb and hyper that they don't even realise the other like him. It gets so annoying after awhile.
