Island...whoozits? Takumi stepped back, buying space between him and those big eyes. "Yeah." He felt, distinctly, a slight fear of these children. If he spoke to them, would they remember them? Would they lead Andrei right to him? He felt a flare of anger in his chest; he wasn't going to let Andrei dictate everything he did. "What are those challenges?" All of the kids broke out in chatter, exclaiming and shouting about their favorite trial leader or kahuna. Takumi bored as soon as he got the gist of it, and only zoned back in when one of the kids asked for a battle. It was as a good a way to train as any, and he didn't really face a danger of losing to a bunch of kids, so he accepted.

All she wanted was to find a map, but it didn't look like there was one around. She hadn't found signs pointing her way either. That made it kind of hard to find her way around. Maybe if she just went in one direction, she'd find a town or something and be able to buy a map there. Except....She didn't have any money, so maybe she'd find one and copy or memorize it. It couldn't be that hard, right?"Lu."Erryn looked up from where she sat on the grass to find Riolu pointing to the house. Oh, right. She forgot there was a place there. Maybe someone inside could help her."Way to go, Riolu!"She completely missed the exaggerated look on Riolu's face, but the blue jackal followed her anyway.
Naomi waited until he was far out of earshot of the unsuspecting laboratory, and of any stranger, before he exhaled slowly. The small pokemon at his feet looked up at him, only Ieyasu understanding what was to come next. "This is so amazing!!!!" Naomi shouted out into the open sky, throwing his arms out into the air at the same time he threw out the formality he'd been carrying with him up until this point. Litten stared out in surprise, what had happened to the composed trainer he'd met in the lab not even five minutes ago?
Ieyasu looked over to Litten, his body language telling him all he needed to know. He shook his head, partially amused, then turned back to Naomi, who now bared the broadest of grins. Yes, this was their human. The male shook himself out, arms moving rapidly and fingers wiggling. He waited until he had gotten all his jitters out--because that was definitely what he needed to do--before he dropped down into a crouch, the ends of his yukata brushing against the ground, and he reached a hand out gently to scratch his ears. "You need a name," he hummed, expression flickering from joy to thoughtfulness. Litten mewled, no real opinion on the matter, but leaned into Naomi's touch, which he took as a sign that he desperately craved a name as well.

Naomi stared hard at Litten, which was, naturally, rather unnerving, appraising his face, his eyes, his very soul. His blue eyes bored into the feline's, unabashed, with neither blinking -- Litten, somehow, understood that, for whatever reason, this was an important rite of passage that they needed to go through, together. "Hmmmmm." Eventually Naomi tore his gaze away, and from his blank canvas of a face blossomed a proud smile and a bright look in his eyes. "Your name shall be... Moriyoshi!" he exclaimed, and when he stood back to his feet he held the newly named Litten in his arms. "Mori for short." Mori settled into Naomi's arm, leaning back into the warmth that radiated from him, and with a soft meow closed his eyes; his, lethargic, version of acceptance, probably.
Ieyasu watched the two through a hidden veil of amusement, but quickly found his attention shifting to the floating machine directly behind Naomi, who'd been watching the trio in silence. Naomi followed his partner's gaze and turned around to face his pokedex -- Rotom; the pokemon inside the electronic Professor Kukui had given him. "Oh, right!" He'd almost forgotten about the little guy, he'd been so quiet. Rotom tilted its head, which just so happened to be the bulk of the pokedex, in Naomi's direction. "I should name you too, shouldn't I?" he remarked, more thoughtful rather than inquisitive and searching. "If that is what you'd like, master!" An electronic voice chirped out. "I'd be more than happy to accept any sort of nickname you would bestow upon--" Rotom paused, so abruptly that Naomi quirked an eyebrow, concerned. Rotom sighed, "I can't keep this up..."

"Look here, kid." Rotom's voice took on a different tone, still electronic but far less welcoming and chipper than before. "I don't 'do' the whole nickname thing, so you'll just call me Rotom. Get it, got it, good." Naomi stared at the pokemon, at a lack for words, but only seconds passed before he was back to smiling, and nodded. "Very well then! If that's what you'd like," he obliged. "Rotom it will be." He had no issues with not giving him (it?) a nickname, he was actually still coming to terms that he was having a conversation with a pokemon inside of a device! A device that he had... no idea what to do with, now that he thought about it.
Naomi couldn't help but laugh about his own ignorance. Rotom stared at him, if there was a joke he didn't get it. "Would you mind telling me about your functions of a pokedex?" he asked, suddenly, and then Naomi had the great pleasure of seeing a pokedex's face fall; it was quite a sight. "...Arceus," Rotom whispered. Hey! He knew about that pokemon! "Of course it's my luck to get this newbie; I knew you were just starting out, but you're practically lime green!" Ieyasu mewled his disapproval at the other's gripes, his fuzzy face contorting into a look that read, 'get over it'. Rotom stared down at the pokemon and the two locked eyes, a mental conversation passing between the two before the electric pokemon backed down.
Rotom turned back to Naomi. "Pokedex's are devices that hold records of information on all Pokémon known to exist. That information includes their entries, with a brief description of them, behaviors, and gender, and if you've caught one, the pokedex will tell you the ability, their current move set, and all available moves," he rattled off, sounding as bored as he looked. Naomi, oblivious to the tone, soaked in this information eagerly. This would extremely useful to him! Being a trainer was now going to be... so much easier.

With an apt idea of the pokedex, Naomi looked down curiously at Mori, an idea formulating as he stared down at the snoozing cat. "Excuse me, Rotom," he spoke as he looked back up. "Pull up Mori's information, please." Rotom, begrudgingly, obliged and zipped in closer to scan him. Several seconds passed before the pokemon's face disappeared, and rather than the look of poorly disguised discontent a list of information popped onto the screen. Naomi poured over the entry. "When the time comes for Litten to molt, it burns off all of its fur in one glorious blaze," he read aloud. His eyes dilated in surprise and he looked back at Mori, body tensing as he imagined his body spontaneously alighting in his arms. Ah... that wouldn't be good, his yukata wasn't flame retardant.

Naomi dismissed the, frightening, thought of Mori catching on fire, and he along with him, and suppressed the urge to place the feline down as a precaution; things were fine, Mori wouldn't do that to him. At this point the pokedex had flickered back to show Rotom's face. "Want me to scan your Eevee too?" he questioned. "Tell me now. Because I'm not going to do this if you change your mind." Naomi nodded, "yes. Thank you," and watched eagerly as Rotom went about scanning Ieyasu as well. Just as before, it took a few seconds for Rotom to process before he brought up Ieyasu's information. Reading it over, Naomi was amused to read the Alola region's description on the fox, which didn't vary too much from the rest of the regions', or his books for that matter. He already knew his partner's current move-set, and his optional moves, but it was good to check and compare -- in case any of the information had updated.
"I have one more pokemon for you to scan," Naomi revealed afterwards, and with his left hand he reached out for the only other pokeball on his person. He tossed the sphere into the air, and as it opened a feathered figure, adorned in a bright light, was released. The light broke away sharply, at the same time Sousa unfurled his wings and took higher into the skies, frightening a pair of unsuspecting Pikipek in the process. The Braviary circled lazily, stretching his wings and accustoming himself to the island air, before he dropped back down to the ground, wings folding back into his body as his talons touched the soft earth below. Naomi smiled proudly and reached out to rub the top of the bird's head, careful not to go against his feathers. "Konbanwa, Sousa," he greeted.
Rotom, who admittedly been semi impressed by the air show, floated closer to Sousa. He was met with a sharp, piercing, gaze from him, which remained with him even once he added two meters of space between them. "The strong, silent type, I take it," he spoke to no one in particular. "That's fitting. Given your species." Face falling away, Sousa's pokedex entry and move-set appeared, giving Naomi to, happily, compare the digital information to his crystallized memory. Everything checked out.

"Thank you Rotom, those are all my pokemon." For now, at least, or he hoped. "Don't mention it, kid," Rotom shook himself out a bit, and on his screen several apps flickered by before settling back onto his face. "I'm serious. Don't mention this to anyone, not everyone gets one of these Rotom dex's, and I don't anyone else thinking they can use me too." Naomi dipped into a short bow, careful not to disturb Mori, "understood~" Rotom only huffed. "Are we actually going to explore before it got dark, or were you planning on just camping out here for the night?" Naomi pursed his lips thoughtfully, Rotom brought up an excellent point, it was starting to get dark. They had about an hour left before the sun went down, and even he realized how unwise it'd be to explore an unfamiliar area in the dark.
Before he went about exploring though, he needed to get introductions out quickly. In all the excitement of actually getting a pokemon, and being in a new area, he'd nearly forgotten. "Mori." Naomi nudged the Litten gently, rousing him from his light slumber. "I would like for you to meet your new allies," he explained, and then set the cat down onto the ground, where he yawned and stretched himself out before doing his best to look as alert as possible. "You have already met Ieyasu. He has been my partner for several years now, I am sure he will be an excellent advisor to you." Naomi gestured to the Eevee, who gave a curt nod in greeting.

Mori and Rotom stared at each other, the latter's gaze far more irritated than before. They eventually broke away, but not before Rotom muttered quietly to himself and moved so that he could hover directly behind Naomi, that cat wouldn't get him here. Eyes shutting briefly, Naomi laughed at the antics of the two, before he bent down to rub Mori in between his ears. "You may call me Naomi," he presented himself, figuring it would be appropriate to introduce himself by his first name; the relationship between a pokemon and trainer was already informal enough. "I am new to these islands, and the life of a trainer. So, please, bear with me as I become acquainted with this region and this new lifestyle." Mori, in between his soft rumbling, meowed in understanding.
Now that everyone knew each other's names, they could move on to familiarizing themselves with the island! At least until night fell. Naomi looked about him, to the left he could see the outline of a cave, and back to his right was the Professor's shack and where he'd come from. Not making a decision just yet, Naomi walked to the edge of the beach, then cupped his hand out towards the tide. Warm water ran over his fingers, prompting him to wiggle them out, but he didn't stay bent over for long and straightened back up, gently shaking water droplets off of his hand. Naomi approached his pokemon, "Rotom, please pull up your map." He peered out at the map of Melemele Island, trying to decide where the best place to visit would be.
He'd only have enough time to stop by one place, so he'd need to be smart about his decision. Ooooorrrr. Naomi grinned right before clamping one hand over his eyes, obscuring his vision, and with the other blindly pointed to an area on the map. "We shall go here!" he announced, still blindfolded. Naomi pulled his hand up, blinked, and looked at the area he'd randomly decided for their group. "Route 3." Proud in his decision, even if had been based on mere chance alone, the teenager stepped back and brushed himself off a bit, preparing for what was next. "Come along! We are headed for Route 3!" He spoke the name as if he hadn't just learned of its existence, and in a flash he was running back towards he'd came, a vivid picture of the map in his head.
Sousa took to the air silently, as he tended to do, and followed his trainer from there. Ieyasu and Mori, land bound, had no choice but to break out into a run to try and keep up. Only Rotom lingered, and even then it wasn't for very long. "What have I gotten myself into?" he lamented to the darkening sky. He went unanswered.

Lysander defended, but soon enough he was cracking a grin and shaking his head at the image that popped into his head. "...I'm sure I'd have a few rough patches, but I'm pretty sure most people will tolerate a bad attitude if they're sweets involved," he revised. Damn, now he wanted a cake.
Cadenza, to the best of his ability, tried to slow down his movements so that they were easier to watch and Suzie wouldn't feel too rushed trying to keep up. Emphasis on tried. Honestly, every single one of his uncharted and wobbly steps were a move of their own, but since he was actively trying to dance--instead of, say, just trying to walk around--this was a bit easier. Maybe. Probably. Whatever it was, the Spinda was certainly enjoying himself! And he could only hope that Suzie was too.
At Fabian's words Heather pushed her right hand out, pinkie extended. "Pinkie promise?" she inquired, a rather serious look on her face behind the childish antics. She needed a buddy, who wasn't Lysander, who'd be willing to help her out with the whole trainer business, and Fabian seemed like a prime candidate. Heather eventually laughed, "sounds like a plan! I can start looking up music now if you'd like. We can compare afterwards," she offered.
Lysander snorted, Melody's 'empathy' enough to snap him out of his façade. "You're so kind, so caring," he drawled. "You'll make a great mother." Thankfully, he'd decided a long time ago that the whole death metal/screamo wasn't his kind of scene. But, if he changed his mind, he knew who to turn to first for inspiration.
"Oh..." Heather did her best not to let her surprise show too much, but failed epically in doing so. Wow, yeah, she'd been waaay off. "Well, at least they're good with numbers!" she blurted out, unable to make the connection between what she'd said and their conversation herself. She just wanted to put a bit of a spin on their occupation, especially with the way Fabian had, almost hesitantly, announced it. "Yup! It's probably the safest idea out there!" she agreed energetically; you didn't need to know 100% what you were talking about.
With Heather and Cadenza leading the charge, the group tumbled out onto Route 1. The teenager didn't get too far from the town, however, before she stopped and turned around to look at the other three. "I actually... don't have any idea of where to go next," she confessed sheepishly. After all, they'd arrived in Iki Town on Tropius (the only way to travel) and certainly hadn't bothered taking any of the routes or backroads anywhere. Not to be deterred, however, Heather spun around to snap her fingers over in Fabian's direction. "Fabulous Fabi! Where do you think we should go from here?" Either he or Melody, she'd take suggestions from either of them.
A little way's back, Lysander scratched his chin absently. "You make him sound like a pet," he joked. "As for Heather and I, it's going... well?" he answered, though he was clearly unsure of his answer. "This is the longest we've hung out together, outside of holidays and birthdays, since I moved out the house." Lysander paused, just long enough to consider how much he ought to tell Melody. "Before we left, my mom told me that Heather had been spending a lot of time in her room, more than usual, so I guess this came at a good time." Afterwards he released a sigh he hadn't even known he'd been holding, then turned to Melody with a simpering smile. "What about you and Fabian? Are you two enjoying the trainer life?"

Ain't that right Abby?" Lana insisted, patting Abigail on the neck. The mudsdale snorted gently in response, shaking a few braids of her thick mane loose. With that, she slowed the mudsdale to a stop so that she could offer Luna a hand, pulling her up onto Abigail with her once they exited Ten Carat Hill. "There ya go hun. Rest a bit, ya've had quite the journey so far, both you an' yer pokemon~" Lana suggested, ruffling Luna's hair.
Of course, there was no time to really relax. Lana made sure Abigail moved with urgency, as they needed to get Luna's pichu to a pokemon center as soon as possible. "Alright, we're on Route One now... Right rotom?" Lana asked, watching as the possessed pokedex flew out of her bag. "Zzzrt! Yes ma'am miss Lana." It responded, causing Lana to smile. Having her dex awake and fully functional was certainly helpful. "Now I'm sure there's one in Hau'oli City, but where might the closest pokemon center be 'round these parts?" Knowing that a pokemon center was in every city and town was pretty common knowledge but she wanted to make sure they could get to the closest one available. "While there is a pokemon center in Hau'oli City, the closest center is actually just ahead on Route 2." The rotomdex pointed out. "Alright, let's go there then. Can ya lead the way?" Lana asked, earning a nod from the dex as it floated just ahead of Abigail to guide her.
Melody couldn’t hide the humorous smirk that ended up spreading across her face as Lysander refuted her claim. "Oh? Would you now?" She said, expression clearly amused. "Well that’s good. I bet you’d make excellent sweets. Break out that ‘Kiss the Cook’ apron and all, right?"
Susie chirped and flapped her wings, wiggling excitedly as she watched Cadenza. With her own careful stepping, occasionally to attempt to mimic the movements once more. She took her time, more focused on watching the Spinda preform his moves with the due diligence they deserved. Soon she was feeling a bit more confident and gave an excited series of chirps before attempting again to bust into a dance of her own, managing a few steps before promptly tripping up and slamming into the ground into an ungraceful fashion. Oof! Well that hadn’t worked as intended…
Fabian quirked an eyebrow as Heather held her hand out, grin crossing his face before he extended his own out and hooking his own pinkie with hers. "Of course! Pinkie promise!" He reaffirmed giving a thumbs-up with his free hand. It sounded like fun and Heather had a more… ‘inspiring’ approach to encouraging training and maybe he could get behind doing it with this kind of pep in his step! "Sure! That sounds awesome! I’m thinking we’ll need a healthy mix of fast-paced and heart pumping but then some slow ballads in between? Like… what you’re supposed to do when you exercise!" Fabian remarked, looking excited about the idea. There were a lot of options to go through on that weren’t there?
He paused a moment, chuckling a little at Heather’s surprise to his parent’s occupations. Yeah, that wasn’t the first time he’d had someone startled by that revelation. He fell quiet thought at her random blurt, staring a moment before bursting into a healthy laugh. "Yeah! They are! I bet I can count on them to keep my funds in check!" He remarked, trying to ease the awkward turn that the conversation. There was no way of really working in the jobs of accountants with the musician life and really, he didn’t want to get to far into it to begin with.
Fabian stopped as Heather did though, looking down briefly to observe Susie who still seemed to be practicing her odd shake a tailfeather jive. Had she been trying to dance or something this whole time? How cute! He directed his attention to the young girl though as she remarked that she had no idea where they should go next. Oh snaps, really? He looked even more surprised as she spun and snapped in his direction for a suggestion, unable to help grinning as she called him the ‘Fabulous Fabi’. Ah, it did his ego heart good to hear that!
"Ah…," his ego boost didn’t last too long without an answer. "I… have no clue either to be honest! Never … never been here before." Boy, that was awkward. Without hesitation, he flipped his attention to Melody. "Melody! Where should we go?!"
Melody scoffed and rolled her eyes, giving him another shove at the remark. "Well thank you; such a charmer. That’s the way to make a girl feel good; let her know how good a mom she might be," she joked, smile still on her face. "Well.. he acts like a hyperactive Growlithe so it’s not hard," she commented. A nod and a curious look to the uncertainty followed. "Mmm…," Was her response, expression ambiguous as she soaked up the information. "That sounds rough… it’s good you took this chance to spend time with her. Sounds like she really needed it." She quirked an eyebrow, offering a soft smile. "You’re a good brother Lys, your sister is really lucky."
"It’s… alright I guess. I don’t know," Melody responded a hand raising to swipe some stray strands out of her face. "I don’t even know if he cares much… Fabi has a bad sense of focus." Which was an understatement. She didn’t want to make him sound too bad but… well so far, he hadn’t been doing all that well. And she wasn’t about to take over this journey for him, that was not what she was here for. "I’m hoping he’ll grow into or something… take some responsibility, you know? It’s… a process." Melody sounded tired at that admission.
She perked a moment though at the questions posed, frowning in thought. Once again, a fine example of Fabian not taking responsibility though she supposed it was … understandable in this situation. "Ah… hm… let me take a look.” Pulling out the map for the luau, she took a little look over the brochure. "There’s a place called Malie Garden on… Ula’ula. It’s apparently a tourist hotspot… and possibly good training grounds." She looked between the three (or really two since, no matter what Fabi would go along with the suggestion) for confirmation.

"Oh yeah, totally," he nodded along with his own words. "I'll have a matching chef's hat to go with it." He had to fight back laughter at the mere thought and, for the most part, he was successful. "I know I'm doing this whole singing thing, but cooking is my true calling. That's what really brings in the fans."
Cadenza clapped along with Susie's effort, truly believing in her and her attempt to dance. Unfortunately, all the belief stored away in his small body wasn't enough to keep the chick righted and he watched, concerned, as she fell to the floor once more. With a concerned sound he was by her side again, helping her up and brushing her feathers to rid them of any dirt clinging to them. Perhaps dancing just wasn't for Susie? And that was perfectly fine, if that was the case! But, either way, perhaps their energy would be better spent exploring and looking around? After all, they were in a brand new place! Cadenza, after assuring that Susie wasn't too bruised or injured, indicated for him to follow as he inched towards the tall grass that lined the trail they were on. They weren't going to go in, of course! Just look!
"Good!" Heather let her pinkie remain interlocked for a few more seconds, the customary time for such a promise, before eventually unlooping her pinkie and allowing her hand to fall back to her side. "We can totally do this, together!" Now that she had a buddy to do this with, she felt even more confident about the gym battle to come, whenever she and Lys got around to challenging it, of course. "That. Is. Genius." Punctuating each word to emphasis its sheer brilliance, Heather pulled out her music player and turned it on to begin flickering through her available playset. "Hold on. Lemme try and find a few songs that fit that description," she urged, adding a bounce to her step as they continued walking.
She gave an uneasy laugh to go along with Fabian's chuckle. She felt bad about asking now, and didn't help when he grew quiet after her, random, observational fact. Internally Heather heaved a sigh of relief when Fabian finally laughed, glad she hadn't upset him with her.. idiocy. "Exactly! And I bet they can give you some financial advice!" she added on. As entertaining a topic it was, Heather was careful not to continue on with it, she'd quickly come to the realization that this was a dead end.
While waiting for Fabian's suggestion Heather looked down at Cadenza, this was the longest they'd gone without her holding onto him; it was the best way to keep track of him, and he was just so soft and warm. He seemed to be getting along just well with Fabian's Torchic, and was enjoying the Alola air as much as she was. "Oh." She looked back up and laughed when Fabian admitted he didn't know where to go either, they were in the same boat, and together she looked to Melody for a suggestion.
Lysander gave a slow and repetitious nod. "Yuuup. I figured as much. I'm pretty sure everyone feels good knowing they'll make a great parent." He turned his head in a thirty degree angle, looking at both Fabian and Heather as the two walked ahead, and he grunted, "I can see that." Lysander grew quiet afterwards, thoughts divided between the past and the present, but afforded Melody a side-look once she spoke. "Yeah..." he agreed somberly, but it wasn't long before surprise took over and he looked away. "Oh, uh..." Lysander felt his cheeks grow warm, and for several seconds after he found himself sincerely invested in the dirt path they were walking on. "Thank you."
Eventually his embarrassment faded away, and Lysander felt himself capable of looking anywhere above ground-level. "He seems to be enjoying himself. So that's something, right?" he offered. He didn't know what sort of advice he could offer to Melody, as much as he wanted to help her out. Giving advice wasn't his forte, well useful advice, that was. Lysander gave a half-smile before he squeezed Melody's shoulder comfortingly. That was... something, right? "Hey, if anyone can help him do that, it's you, Mel. But, if you ever need any help I'd be willing to take him off your hands -- for about an hour. We can trade: you take Heather, I take Fabian."
He didn't know why he hadn't thought of it before, but they didn't actually have a destination in mind; which was awkward, since he'd been the one who'd suggested they'd leave Iki Town. In his defense, however, Heather had taken control of their little group and lead them out, but it wasn't as if she had known where to go -- and he had known that she hadn't known. Melody seemed to be the only one of them who had put some thought into... anything, and she'd grabbed a map. Lysander peered over the blonde's shoulder, taking a cursory look over the multiple islands that made up the region with her. "That sounds like a good a place as any," he remarked, then looked to Heather as he stepped back. "It sounds exciting! I'm for it!" Heather exclaimed, as excited as ever. "We have to get there on a boat, right? How do we get to one?" Lysander pointed out westward, then placed both hands behind his head. "We need to head to Hau'oli City."
A destination now in place, and an idea of how to get there, Heather revamped her efforts and started marching once again. "To Hau'oli!" she cried, pumping both hands into the air with enthusiasm.

Melody covered her mouth to stifle a fierce laugh that threatened to surface. She shook a little as she did but was eventually able to drop her hand away, leaving just a smile. She couldn’t fathom anything to say least she be unable to stop herself from laughing further. It was all just so funny to think about. "Well, you could always be a singing cook. I bet a restaurant around that theme would be amazing. "
Susie fluttered her wings dejectedly as she was helped back to her feet, a look of disappointment clear on her face. She was so certain she’d had it too! Where had she messed up? She was positive she’d stepped just as Cadenza had. She glanced at the Spinda and gave a grateful chirp, absently kicking at the dirt in her sadness. When he indicated that she follow though, her head tilted a bit. Was there some secret trick he was going to show her? With a curious chirp, she skipped her way over, peering between the grass and Spinda. It was grass! Was there something there? Without hesitation, she chirped and shoved her head into the grass to check.
Fabian grinned and gave a double pistol point. Of course! He was feeling a new wave of positive energy towards his journey and the potential training that would incur. It certainly hadn’t been something he was looking forward to but something about Heather’s brightness and excitement well… made him feel excited as well! He quirked an eyebrow as she pulled out her music player, grin returning as he gave a solid nod.
"Of course!" He remarked, taking a glance over at their pokemon as well. They seemed to be poking about and a gentle squeak from his jacket had him remembering that Orchid was tucked away in his pocket still. Gently he fished her out and in hand, grinning and giving her a little rub between the ears, "Hey there Orchid, you awake?" He inquired receiving a little squeak in answer. With a grin Fabian gave her a little tickle, focusing back about where they’d head next.
Melody rolled her eyes at the remark, still smiling a little. "Oh yeah, of course," she took a glance at the pair as well, just ‘hm’ing as she thought about it. She the silence go as Lysander grew quiet, not entirely certain whether to ask further on the situation. It seemed a sour point and not everyone wanted to reminisce on those kinds of things. She couldn’t help but smirk a little as he went red in the face from her compliment, gently nudging him with an elbow. "You’re welcome. I’m sure that means you’ll make a great father." She teased once more.
"It is but… well, Fabi isn’t exactly hard to entertain. He’s just hard to keep focused," she said as the conversation returned to being about their two travelling companions. She did look a little surprised at the offer, giving Lysander a look that read ‘are you serious?’ She seemed to honestly consider it a moment. "… Would you? I mean… he could probably use it…," Melody smiled. "Every girl needs a little girl time so… sure. I could do that. If you’re serious."
Melody smiled as her suggestion seemed to ring well with the group. The blonde took a glance between Heather and Lysander as they spoke, head nodding in confirmation at Heather’s inquiry. "Yup, we’ll need to take a boat." She tucked the map away. "And yup, Hau’oli City is the best bet. So let’s get movin-"
Fabian gave a loud groan, color semi-drained from his face as he seemed to catch on. "A… boat…?" Melody rolled her eyes, starting to walk again, giving him a look. "You’ll survive, Fabi. Come on."

As it turned out, the house on the side of the road was actually where Alola's own Professor Oak lived. Though, his name was Kukui, not Oak. Did every region have their own Pokemon expert that handed out Pokemon to new trainers? Speaking of Pokemon, Erryn definitely wanted all three of the ones Kukui had in his lab! They were so cute and so different than the ones she'd seen at Oak's! Well, except for types....She was beginning to see professors hoarded specific types for new trainers to choose from. But, why only Water, Fire, and Grass? Why not others? Like Normal or Bug or Flying?
"Lu!"Erryn was snapped out of her thoughts when Riolu poked her, probably wondering if she was okay or if she needed a doctor. The upbeat girl gave a smile and opened the map they'd gotten from Kukui. She actually liked the idea of having a paper map, so that was what she asked for. So many things were digitized. It was kind of boring."Okay! Where should we go, Riolu?"The map didn't tell them much about each location, like what kind of Pokemon could be found there, but there were small blurps about the places. Some of them even had little symbols next to them, but Erryn didn't know what that meant. She watched at Riolu look at the map, seemingly reading each tidbit of information - which honestly kind of surprised her. She didn't know Riolu could read; Erryn had been ready to read them for him.Pokemon really are awesome. Some can even read human.
After a few minutes, Riolu pointed at a place called Verdant Cavern. The look in his eyes said that was absolutely where they had to go, and that was kind of worrying. Riolu had never been to Alola, right? So, then why did he seem so intent on that being their destination? Deciding not to worry about it, Erryn put their map away and stood. If Riolu led her into trouble, she'd be really upset, but she wasn't about to let that slow her down."Onward to Verdant Cavern!"
