Luna felt her heart nearly stop when Lana did answer the phone. In many ways, she was hoping her cousin wouldn't answer. She felt awkward and nervous on the phone. "Mm I had a feelin'. Yer aunt Leila was just telling me about how yer ma suggested we meet up. I'm in Ten Carat Hill right now, and it's right on Route One, think ya can make it over, or d'ja want me to come find you?" Listening to Lana's voice, she sounded like a rodeo star or something. Luna manipulated the map on her dex, finding Ten Carat Hill very close by. "Oh, I see it here on the map. I can make it to you! Uhm... I have a Pichu and a Popplio with me, just so you know who I am."
As Luna talked with Lana on the phone, Kaliko the Popplio and Ava the Pichu were playing a game, though the latter was playing reluctantly. Kaliko blew bubbles from her nose that flew at Ava, who would then frown and zap each bubble as it got too close for comfort. Finally, Ava hid behind Luna as the nose bubbles drifted closer and closer to the unsuspecting trainer.
"So I'll be there in a sec." With that as her goodbye, Luna was about to hang up before the bubbles touched her face and popped, stinging her face. "OUCH! What the heck was that!?" The phone hung up.
Kaliko clapped her hands together as Luna frowned at the little Pokemon. Ava peeked out from behind Luna with a shrug. "Can we please not attack humans?" The Popplio tilted her head, tongue slipping out forming a goofy, happy face. "Bwork?"

Luna pocketed her phone as she frowned down at her Popplio. She hadn't understood before how a little water could hurt other Pokemon, but she certainly understood it now. The feel of the water from the bubble tingled unpleasantly on her face. Kaliko the Popplio happily clapped in the face of her grimacing trainer. Her cute smile brightened Luna's mood. Pichu seemed to join in with the clapping.
Luna took in a deep breath and sighed. There was no way she could stay mad at her Pokemon. They were so cute. She wondered what other cute Pokemon she might be able to catch. "Gosh. I might be starting to understand why people start collecting Pokemon..." Luna bent down and gathered her two Pokemon into her arms.
With that she made her way to Ten Carat Hill.

Takumi realized too late that he probably should have been paying attention when he was higher up and had a better view. Because he had no clue which way to go. He growled, pulling at the cloth covering his eye. If he could just see properly... The fact that he still had one working was little comfort. With a sigh he kept going, knowing his being lost was more his fault than because he only had one eye to look with. He may have made it out with cash, but he hadn't known what to grab on his rushed exit from home.

Dallas Tucker had decided to ditch Saru and Chibi. It became abundantly clear to the thug that those two had a whole lot going on, and Dallas didn't feel like getting involved. He left the Metapod as well, but he figured the young kid needed as much pals as he possibly could. As for Saru...well, Dallas was sure that they would meet up again someday. And Dallas was going to try to kick his a**.
Now, he was back on Route 1, heading back to the city. He had his fill of the open road, and decided to get back in his element, even if that element is a much more tropical version of it. But, there was bound to be all sorts of trouble he could get himself into. And maybe even something a bit more interesting.
When he was back in Johto, he had heard about all sorts of underground events that went down in the seedy (albeit very little) underbelly of Alola. It was why Dallas decided to head this way first to begin with. He needed to test his skill in a more suitable surrounding, and naturally, he had to pick up Litten. But, he'd have to get to town first. Dallas kept on heading down the path.

As the pathway winded up and down, Dallas let out a yawn. "Man, I'm getting tired of all this walking," he grumbled to himself. He pulled out his (well, his now, after taking it from someone else) phone to check the time. It was starting to get closer to mid afternoon. He had spent most of the day wandering around with the two dysfunctional monks, and didn't have much to show for it, other than a sore arm and a wariness towards men in robes. Hopefully the rest of the day would go just the way he wanted it to.
And lo and behold, things were already looking up. After stopping to take a leak off the main road, Beltigre started to meow towards a tree off on its lonesome. "Huh? What is it, girl?" Dallas followed after the little fire cat until she reached the base of the tree. Around the trunk were tons of berries, a whole big stack of them! "Hey, jackpot!" Dallas rubbed his chin in a plotting manner. "Hm...those look like they'd make for some good...huh?"
As Beltigre went to start nibbling at the berries, a Magnemite burst out of the pile, looking highly territorial and angry. "Oy! Back off, magnet head!" Dallas tried to shoo the poke'mon away, but the Magnemite decided that a nice shock was a better retort. Dallas twitched as he was shocked, and fell over. "N-n-not c-c-c-c-cool!" Without another word, Beltigre sprung into action!
Though the Magnemite got in a solid tackle to Beltigre, the little cat didn't stand down, and fired a gout of flame at the Steel Poke'mon. It started to feel the melting of its frame, and quickly took off into the fields before fainting. Beltigre guarded Dallas as he slowly got to his feet, grumbling. "Good job, Beltigre," he managed. He gave the Litten a few pets and loves before returning to the pile of berries."Alright, let's get this stuff loaded up!" Beltigre meowed happily, just as eager as her trainer.

There was a crap ton of greenery and Fabian had to admit, it was downright gorgeous. He’d taken to carrying Susie at this point to give her a little rest; she’d been on her feet (or claws rather) this entire time and he was certain she could use the break. The Torchic certainly seemed to appreciate it, giving little chirps of her own and taking in the scenery with just as much delight as her trainer. Even Melody was taking her time, albeit still going at a steady pace, to take in the island pleasantries. It was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of cities, even she had to admit that. Maybe they could find a way to stick around here a bit longer? Sure, there was the luau, but maybe even after that? She’d have to wait and see, for now, it was important they made it to the luau first and then could figure things out from there.

As was common with taking walks, Takumi’s mind wandered. He moved smoothly from one idea to the next, and if he’d tried to remember what he’d just been thinking he’d have been hard pressed to do it. As he walked, he hummed to himself. Not out loud, but in his head, like a song he couldn’t forget, just simple tunes. Hmm ooo ooohh, la hm hmm. He became aware of this suddenly, and frowned, not sure where it was coming from. He wasn’t the kind of person that had music stuck in his head, or that hummed. The strangest thing of all was that when he focused on it, he realized he didn’t know the tune and had no idea where it was going. ”I better not be going crazy,” he muttered to humself, glancing at Keahi and Merlin. Keahi‘s dark wings were tucked into her back, nestled into the crimson fur and peeking out like two lines contouring her body. His eyes slid to Merlin, whose round shape elicited a pang in the boy’s heart. He forced himself to stare at the owl’s back, searing into his mind (over the humming) that this was Merlin, not Tzut. Merin’s head turned, a full horror-movie 180 degrees, making Takumi jump. The owl chuffed, hooting laughter, but was in for an almost immediate shock of his own when Keahi jumped, as if mirroring Takumi’s shock. She danced playfully on her paws, bouncing Merlin as she did. Takumi grumbled at being startled, though a part of him seemed amused.

He paused on the path, smoothing out his clothes to try and look at least a little presentable. Really, it was his skin that bothered him more than anything else. ”Keahi, stop. Keahi.”[/b Keahi seemed to agree that Takumi had sweaty skin, but she rather liked the salty taste and had taken to snatching licks on his hand whenever itdangled near her head. Takumi wiped his hand in her fur, considering it payback. It was surprising how she seemed able to sense where his hand was, despite being blind. Takumi wondered if maybe it had to do with sensing the air, since she seemed to be a flying type according to those wings.

He read what little information there was, surprised to find that being blind was expected with the species, rather than something individual to Keahi. Whether there was more information out there or not, all Takumi got from the entry was the basics- typing, species name, and a tidbit that they were always female.

Keahi sniffed at the pokedex, curious what it was that had taken her trainer’s attention. Takumi put it away, feeling like he’d been right to not even bother with it before now. He could figure things out on his own. Or with his pokemon’s help, he amended when he caught Keahi looking at him (and Merlin mimicking the gaze). Takumi shook his head, still amazed at how uncannily Keahi seemed to be looking at him even if he knew she couldn’t. ”I didn’t know newborn pokemon could come out so big,” Takumi said, as if changing the subject. Keahi had come out, by his guess, just a little under a foot shorter than Takumi himself. Clearly pokemon aged faster than humans, or at least came out more capable. It made sense, if they usually lived in the wild, that they be able to defend themselves from an early age. If only Takumi felt less like a bird kicked from the nest and more like a fawn able to take its first steps moment after birth. Or…maybe not a fawn. Like a lion or something.

He was reflecting on what he'd learned thus far of the world beyond the temple walls and of the people he'd encountered up until now. It wasn't like he'd imagined it would be. People were selfish, greedy, lustful, prideful and vain. Only a small handful was what he could consider "honest" and of them even they seemed ... tainted. Dalles was ... well honest but also wrathful, prideful and perhaps vain. He certainly reacted to anything foreign with hostility. Were most if not all people like that? No, there had to be good ones scattered among them. the collective of the human race couldn't be all bad, could it? He couldn;t even consider himself above another. He was prone to fits of rage just as much as Dalles was. He'd just learned to contain it better.
The entire train of thought brought Saru to one conclusion. People acted in their own self-interest despite whatever they might say to prove otherwise. Dalles for instance only followed him to prove a point, his sense of pride was his self-interest. Chibi was always looking out for himself in some small manner. Saru had noticed his pension for action for his own gain despite opportunity where he could and should act in the interest of others. Even the nurse joys only healed Pokemon because it paid them to do so, the fact they might enjoy the work was irrelevant to the end argument. Would they do the same job if there was no pay to be gained? Perhaps some but not all. It was simply unrealistic to continue with that blind idealism. Saru opened his eyes. There was something he wanted to know now but to find out he had to step out of his comfort zone and into the darkness.

After shoving their entire haul of berries carefully into a container and sliding that into his duffel, Dallas and Beltigre started back up the pathway. ”Man, we’re gonna make some good stuff with all of this!” Dallas claimed. Beltigre walked next to him, and looked up, curious. She mewed before opening her mouth wide. ”Sorry Beltigre, but they’re not just for eating up.” Dallas said sympathetically. ”Well, they will be, but not right now. I gotta refine ‘em and mix ‘em up the right way if I wanna do this right.” Dallas nodded with affirmation, and walked with his swagger once again.
”Oh yeah, I’ll whip up something so good you’ll burst into tears!” He seemed confident enough, or at the very least, he sounded like it. ”But that’ll have to wait until we get to town,” Dallas added. Beltigre mewed, adding a grumble to the end of it. Her trainer sighed, and shook his head. Geez, such a whiner! He reminded himself that he would need to do something nice for his Litten, and walked with earnest down Route 1, heading right into Hau’oli City.

The trip to Alola was actually really fun. She'd never been on a train or a boat before. They were nothing like cars at all. When Erryn and Riolu got off the boat, they looked around. They weren't in a town or a city but on a road of some sort with a house. She wondered what it was, but didn't think she should go investigating. Instead, Erryn looked around to see if she could spot any Pokemon unique to Alola or a black Rattata."I wonder if there's a map around here. Do you want to choose where we go if we find one, Riolu?"He looked at her and then seemed to think. He then nodded and Erryn beamed."Okay! Let's find a map!"
The path ahead was familiar, and Takumi recognized it as the fork in the road near the professor's place. How long ago that seemed, when he had traded that candy bar for Merlin and Tzut had been there to watch the new bird with keen eyes. Now, there was a small group of children on the path. Two stook in the grass, while two others were paced thirty feet apart on the path with pokemon between them. They were likely locals from one of the nearby towns, come to play where they wouldn't be bothered by adults. One of the boys watching the battle noticed Takumi. His eyes flicked pointedly to Keahi and Merlin. "Woah, this guy's got a Rowlet!" The battled stopped, all four children turning to stare. The one who had spoken first approached. "Hey mister, did you get that from the professor?" That broke the floodgates, and the others dashed up, eyes sparking. "Are you taking the island challenges?" she asked.
