Alex looked around, walking along the walls as he examined the various trinkets and what not around the room. He looked over when he heard someone else enter the room and smiled a little when he saw it was Bernadette. "This is a nice place you have here. It's... cozy."

"Thanks..." She smiled a bit more, she thought he was just being nice. It wasn't much but for them it was home. And Bubbee did try to make it as nice as she could with what they had.

"You're welcome." He said with a nod, heading over to where she was. He was bit unsure what to do with himself in their home but he kept quiet and waited things out.

"We'll be ready to eat soon. Just heating up the stew now." She she said this her grandmother came out with a pot. "Oh Bubbee let me." She rushed over before her grandmother dropped it.

"Oh thank you dieťa. Alexander, do you mind fetching the bread. Its on the counter in the basket dear." She asked him sweetly, needing to sit down.

"Sure thing." He said with a nod, watching Bernadette to make sure she didn't have any trouble with the pot before going to get the bread. He came back after a moment with the basket in hand.

They all set down to the table. Her grandfather at the head of the table and Bernadette and her grandmother on either side of him. the extra setting was set next to Bernadette.

Her grandmother had begun to ladle stew into their bowls. "Oh thank you dear. Anywhere on the table is fine." She gave him another of her sweet smiles and set a bowl of stew in front of her husband, then picked up Alex's bowl.

He nodded and set the basket down near the stew before taking his seat next to Bernadette. "Thank you for inviting me to dinner mam." He figured that they deserved at the very least that much.

"Our pleasure." Once she was done dishing out the stew she took her husbands hand and bowed her head.

Bernadette did the same taking her grandfathers hand and holding hers out for Alex.

Alex blinked but figured they were going to do a prayer. He still thought it was weird if the rumors about Bernadette were true, but didn't ask about it. Instead he did the same as them, bowing his head and take Bernadette's hand.

Bernadette knew her grandmother would do a short blessing tonight. Nothing that would expose them. She felt a small tingle when Alex took her hand.

"May we have food in our bellies, a roof over our heads, and loved ones to see us through to the very end." she brought her hand back up with a small smile. It wasn't her normal blessing but it would do.

He took their hands and kissed them both. A moment of recognition from him. Then he began to slowly eat.

Alex nodded and was about to say 'Amen' but decided it against it at the last second, realizing nobody else said it either. He watched as her grandfather kissed both their hands and thought about it a second, but decided not to risk doing something like that with Bernadette. Her grandmother might get a kick out of it but he figured Bernadette would quite literally give him a kick. So he kept his thoughts to himself and began eating.

It was late when dinner was done and they had cleaned up. Grandmother talk as much as she could. Mostly about Bernadette to Alex. But soon she grew tired. "I think I'll head off to bed now."

"Alright Bubbee. I'll see us out don't worry." Bernadette told her.

"Oh Alexander do see that she gets back alright. I worry so when its this late."

"Bubbee I get back fine. It isn't a long walk at all."

Alex nodded as he got up, rolling his shoulders a little as he did so in a type of stretch. "She's in good hands. I'll make sure she gets back alright." He said with another nod to assure the woman that things would be fine.

"Thank you dear." She gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek. then she moved to her granddaughter. "You be nice." She whispered as they hugged.

"Good night Bubbee." She rolled her eyes and grabbed her cloak.

She gave a little wave and went back to her tiny bedroom where her husband already was asleep.

Bernadette blew out the last candle as they left and made sure the door was secure.

Alex gave a small bow to the older woman before heading outside, heading down the steps quietly before turning and waiting for Bernadette. "They're a nice couple your grandparents." He said with a soft smile.
