"That may be true, but she has saved my life. The least I can do is befriend her. It's not like I give her my fortune." Iago said. He wanted to, though. He wanted to let Evie have some money, so she could do whatever she liked, so her family could live a better life.
He forced a nervous looking smile...and it was sincere, as he was nervous.
"I may be getting married soon. That's enough to make anyone nervous." he said, ignoring the hand on his cheek. It was soft, yes, but he preferred the slight callouses on Evie's hand, because it told him that unlike Jocelyn, she had to work to survive.

Jocεlyn "Whatever she's done doesn't mean she wont turn around and eventually turn on you. Iago, I'm just saving you from the heartache that she will undoubtedly cause you. Trust me my love...she will only cause you more pain then happiness. It's best you forget about her, you're going to be with me after all." Jocelyn smiled at him and took him by the hand.
"Yes you are soon to be married but you should be excited not nervous. With me you don't have to be. I promise to love you fully." She kissed him once more but this time it was on the lips and she pressed herself very tightly against his body. He would only try to avoid her for so long before he started feeling the same way about her.

Iago felt her lips touch his, and her body press against his. Oh, how he loathed this girl. The only girl he wanted to have pressed against him like this was his Evie, not this airheaded witch.
He had to pretend he enjoyed it, though, even though he hated every moment of it. He gave a fake smile. "You're right. But it is a nerve wracking experience. It only happens once." he said.

Jocεlyn Jocelyn frowned and somehow got her gray eyes to start glittering and seemingly they looked as if they were watering.
"Iago my dearest....I'm starting to think that you do not want me to become your wife. Never have I ever gotten such little response before and I can't help but think that you are just playing with me." Jocelyn felt a tear slip down her cheek and she didn't care to wipe at it. She didn't look so vicious when she was like this and hoped that her weakness would somehow get into Iago's heart. Something that forge girl did between when Jocelyn was there and when she came back made Iago steel himself from her and she wanted to know what happened.

Although he had no feelings for her, seeing a woman cry still tugged at his heartstrings. He didn't like to see anyone cry, even if it was someone he hated. So, he reached up and brushed the tear off her cheek. "Why would you think that?" he asked softly.
"I've never been married before. To know it's coming up...it's a little overwhelming. It has nothing to do with you, it's just the grandeur of the event." he explained.

Jocεlyn Jocelyn felt a little better when he'd wiped her tears away but still wanted to desperately find out what he and the forge girl had done together while she was gone. Surely they didn't do anything illegal so she could cast that thought out of her mind. Maybe he was telling her the truth, maybe he really just was nervous about getting married. If that was the case then it would be easy to get him to fall for her, most men did eventually.
"I know you are nervous about getting married to me....I would to if I were in your shoes. But is it so hard to let's say, kiss me back? You are more unresponsive then...well....I can't seem to think of something to compare you to at the moment but you are very, VERY unresponsive." Jocelyn crossed her arms over her chest.
"Is it because of that forge girl?"

Iago smiled at her, again it was a false smile. He shook his head. "Evie?" he asked. Yes, it is. It's because she's everything you're not, and she's the one I'd rather marry. he thought.
"No...she's just that, a friend. You're the one for me right now." he lied. He realized he had to break his promise to Evie if he wanted to keep up the illusion of being in love with her.
Evie, forgive me. he thought, leaning in to kiss Jocelyn on the cheek. "I've never kissed a girl before, that's why. I hope that's fine." he said, pretending to be embarrassed.

Jocεlyn "She doesn't seem like JUST a friend to me Iago. I see the way you look at her sometimes and I wonder if you two are more than just friends? You know that is illegal Iago and your father will be very upset if he were to find out about this as I'm sure you know already. A Royal cannot marry a commoner...a peasant...a blacksmith." Jocelyn wrinkled at the words and said them as if they were foul curse words.
When she'd felt his lips against her cheek and she gave him a wry smile. Was that it? Surely there was no grown man who was still so shy that he could not kiss a woman such as herself?
"Well...that's all fine and dandy but very anti-climactic my love." Jocelyn stood up on the tips of her toes and whipsered, "This was what I was looking for." Jocelyn closed her eyes and kissed Iago's lips once more with a fire that she'd wanted to see from him from the first time her eyes had met his.

Forgive me, Evie. Iago thought as she kissed him. He could feel that she was being passionate about it, but he still didn't want to kiss her. I still don't feel a thing, you cold-hearted witch he thought. He had to pretend, though. He put his arms around her and pulled her into it a little more, and before Evie could come back and spot him, he let go and pulled back to get some air.
"Was that better?" he whispered.

Jocεlyn Jocelyn could feel him pull her into the kiss more than he had before and smiled at him when he pulled away. That was much better. She felt as if she was getting to him now, at least he'd kissed her and that had to be some improvement right?
"That was much better my Prince. Now I have no doubt in my mind that you love me and I too love you Iago. We can marry and be happy and grow old together and live happily ever after." Jocelyn was excited now and did not doubt his love for her. She kised him again and again to show how much she loved him.

εviε Evie had gotten herself to calm down at the Clearning and had started coming back up the trail to her forge. If Jocelyn and Iago were still there doing who knew what...well....then she would have to leave them alone no matter how much she'd hate it. There was no stopping that woman...she had her clutches on Iago and now Evie couldn't do anything about it. As she was coming up to her forge, she heard Jocelyn's evil, satanic voice talking. Jocelyn spoke of love and how much Iago loved her now and they could live happily ever after...those were the words Evie had used earlier with Iago as well. Then she saw that hateful woman kiss Iago over and over and she wondered what had happened between them. Iago and Jocelyn were standing very close now and she was all over him...and he didn't seem to mind as he did before. It was just as Evie had feared all along, he was starting to go for her.
Evie shook her head and felt somewhat hurt, her chest stung but she had to admitt to herself, she'd seen it coming. There was nothing left to do now except leave.

Iago smiled. "I'm sure we will live happily ever after." he said. In your dreams.
An idea hit him just as Evie came into view outside the forge. "Why don't we take this inside? This place...isn't exactly romantic, and I don't want the public eye to see us." he offered. His heart went out to Evie, having seeing the sad look on her face. Don't think that, Evie. You're my one and only. he thought.
"I'll follow you out." he said, motioning for her to go.

Jocεlyn Jocelyn smiled at him, yes he was definitely starting to come around now. He actually wanted to take her somewhere romantic! She cried out happily and wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him.
"Oh I would love to go somewhere less....dirty." Jocelyn's nose wrinkled again as she slipped her hand into Iago's. She turned to go walk outside when she saw the forge girl again. Jocelyn smiled, what was she doing there? It was no matter now, she won Iago and nothing could bother her any longer. Not even the forge girl. Jocelyn started to walk out of the forge with Iago in tow.

εviε Evie turned around and started to walk away from her forge and headed back up the road to her home. She looked up at the sky every once and again to get herself to keep her head calm and not go back to her forge until she was completely sure they were gone. The image of Jocelyn kissing Iago was burned onto the inside of her eyes and she couldn't stop seeing it everywhere she looked. Evie had made it up the road and back home again and saw her mother looking out the window to the road. Her mother's face lit up when she saw Evie and rushed to open the door and throw her arms around her daughter's frame.
"Hello to you too mother." Evie's voice had no emotion and she walked on by into the house. Her mother looked at her with a puzzled expression and she walked back into the house after her daughter.

Iago looked at Evie, and before she walked off, he looked her right in the eyes, and clearly mouthed the words I love you, don't forget it. without anyone else but her seeing. She walked off, and his heart felt saddened. All he wanted to do was break free of Jocelyn's grasp and run toward his Evie, and hug her tightly, and tell her everything was alright. Instead, he was forced to spend some time with her. Thankfully, it was later in the day, and it wouldn't be long before he would have to separate to go to bed...if she asked to sleep in the same bed with him, he'd outright refuse. She could kiss him, hug him, and he would pretend to like him, but he would reserve the right to sleep with him to Evie, and Evie only.

Jocεlyn Jocelyn and Iago walked along in the village all the way to the castle. Along the way, some of the villagers came and said hi to them and greeted them. They were filthy and poor and they all needed a good scrub down but they seemed harmless to her. There was one woman however that came up to them, she was dressed like a beggar and smelled like she'd been sleeping in a pig's trough. The old woman said that Iago was throwing away love that he could never get back again if he tried and then she stalked off. Jocelyn laughed outright at the woman and continued on.
"Quite the characters you have in this village." Jocelyn commented as they went up to the castle doors. The guards opened them and nodded at her as they went inside. She liked it better in there, it wasn't as dirty.

εviε Evie laid down on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. She couldn't believe what a turn the day took and rolled around for a little while, trying to get comfortable. There was nthing she wanted to do now because she felt that there was no reason to do anything. She didn't have Iago, she didn't have anything. It soon good exceedingly stuffy in er room and she peeled off her clothing. She decided to take a bath and did just that. Evie dried off her hair and put on a pure white slip over her body and that was it, she'd nothing else to do to keep her head out of the clouds and thinking. She surrendered to the kitchen to help her mother cook though said nothing the entire time.

Iago felt heartbroken at what the woman said. He looked at Jocelyn, and she appeared to him as even more of a monster than usual. "Yes, quite." he agreed, leading her through the halls of the castle.
The halls were rather ornate, and clean. Bright coloured marble floors, and tapestries galore.
"Where would you like to go? There's still a little time left before I go for my evening meal, and then retreat to my chambers for the day." he said, trying to appear as normal as possible. He looked around and blinked, and every time he did, he saw Evie walking away. A stupid thought came to his mind: he knew where her house was, and he knew which room she slept in: he'd seen her standing at it, once, while he was walking through the village at night.
He decided he'd sneak out. He had to see her again. He had to hold her, and tell her everything was alright.
