WAS a Chuck Norris joke era? I thought it's still running. Or is dying down like the Anna Nicole joke era (pre-TrimSpa days)?

Eh, it's dying out actually. I haven't heard one in months so far.

Proposal #2 is the proposal in which they get rid of affirmative action completely.

So I sort of need it to get into the college I want... xD UofM isn't so far from where I live, I already know the campus area quite well, plus i'm in an elusive club there already. So I should go there. And take up engineering. Or Forensic science.

I KNOW IT'S A LITTLE LONG, BUT READ IT ANYWAY. IT'S INTERESTING.

Affirmative action first appeared during the early 1960s when President John F. Kennedy said the government should take "affirmative action" to put an end to the inequalities African Americans faced. After JFK's death, President Lyndon B. Johnson strongly expanded this idea.

Affirmative action is three things: 1) Women and minorities who apply for jobs or college admission are preferred and chosen over more qualified applicants. 2) Employers and admissions officers reserve a specific number of "spots" for women and minorities.

For example, let's say a college has enough room to admit 2,000 students for the upcoming school year. Under affirmative action, a specific percentage of its new students would have to women and minorities. Let's say the college would have to have 1,000 new female students and 200 new minority students. In order to be admitted, a student must have an ACT score of at least 32 and a GPA of at least 3.6. 1,095 of the male applicants meet these requirements, but not all of them would be admitted because of the affirmative action guidelines. If the school supports AA, it would rather admit less qualified women and minority races than more qualified men and Caucasians.

In the past, Asian Americans really benefitted from AA. In recent years, however, colleges have discovered that their student populations have too many Asians and not enough of the other minority groups. Asians as a whole make very good grades in school, so they would claim most of the "spots" colleges reserve for minorities. Therefore, prestigious colleges do not consider Asians to be minorites and do not accept as many as they used to. Asians are now part of the general admission, like Caucasians are. Many people say Asians are "the victims of affirmative action."
