Rosabella caught the quaffle when Leonette passed to her, but cried out in pain when a bludger slammed into her. And of course, Xavier managed to reach out and steal it at that moment. The girl pushed through the pain and tried to steal it back from Tanya.

"Bloody hell, not again," sighed Dani, as she watched Xavier (whom seemed to just about have her team's number) snag the ball out of her teammate's grasp and pass it off to the girl whom looked rather like Rue from 'the Hunger Games'. As the other Chaser raced back toward the goals, Dani heaved back on her school broomstick, and forced it through a hard turn and started her pursuit.

She was all but laying down on her broomstick to minimize the amount of air resistance her body caught as she moved through the air, and willed her broom to fly fast enough for her to attempt to pluck the Quaffle from her opposite number's clutches.

Ronna knew when she hit the bludger towards Toby that it was going to make contact and returned her attention to the chassers. Xavier was holding his own, having stolen the quaffle again, but he had both Rosabella and Danica on his trail. Figuring she had already gotten a hit on Rosabella she made an attempt to hit the first year Danica, after all, if she was going to play quidditch it was only a matter of time before she got hit.

Toby swore in pain when Ronna redirected his own bludger at him and it slammed into his shoulder. If this was dislocated he was going to so annoyed.... He flew in with his bat to try and redirect a bludger away from that first year Danica and at Ronna instead. He wasn't giving up quite so easily.

I want to be the kind of person that people will write songs about.

Seriously, another save from Toby?

Though, Ronna supposed she did get a hit on Toby. She frowned as Toby managed to block her hit towards Danica and before she could dodge the bludger he redirected at her it slammed into her right thigh. She winced, rubbing the bruise, it was a good hit. She took a moment to adjust to tolerating the pain before refocusing on the game going on around her.

She refocused on the game before and decided that she would change her focus for the moment and hit another bludger at Leonette, having a feeling the girl would soon move in to attempt a steal. Now, she'd just have to hope that Toby's luck wouldn't hold in blocking her hits.

Dani wasn't quite able to get the better of her more experienced opponent, and despite her best efforts could not do much more than gain incrementally upon. Focused as she was on grabbing the Quaffle, she was only dimly aware one of the opposing Beaters sent a Bludger her way, and one of her teammates batted it off course, sparing her grievous bodily harm.

'My luck's going to run out sooner or later,' she thought, as she urged another few centimeters of closure rate from her mount. 'She's going to get one past ...Toby, I think that's his name, and I'm going to get clobbered. Well, like Coach used to say, if you're afraid to break a nail, stay in the stands.'

Dani reached out a hand tried for the Quaffle once more.

Another hit that Toby has no way of blocking. Finally!

Veronica took a calming breath as she realized exactly how hard she had hit the bludger towards Leonette. There was no way Toby was going to get there in time. So, she had landed a bit on everyone on the opposing team-except the first year-and two on Leonette. She almost regretted not sending that extra bludger Toby's way, but that possibly would have resulted in the usual beater war where they both kept sending bludgers at each other. There really was no point in that, not this year, Toby's spot was pretty much secured no matter who walked onto pitch-or it should be-but Toby was proving himself quite well. He had successfully made three blocks was it?

Well, now all Veronica had to do was land a hit on the first year Danica and at least make one successful save and she'd feel decent about her try-out this year, regardless of her rough start. Maybe she finally had gotten her mind focused on what was going on at hand instead of letting thoughts of the summer bother her. Then again her throbbing thigh was a good way to keep her focused on the here and now of quidditch try-outs. You don't get those kind of hits-or usually don't and shouldn't, probably-unless you were hit by a bludger.

Veronica narrowed her eyes at Alex's block, though, the throw Tanya had done wasn't particularly impressive. She wondered briefly as she gauged who Alex would toss the quaffle to, considering the quaffle had stayed so far from Team 1's goal if this could even be considered try-outs for Crash. He had been on the main team already-would the fact their chasers were so good actually end up hurting him? As she pondered on that she smiled as she judged Alex's throw-Danica. Well, Danica hadn't been hit yet, and it was about time for the first year to get acquainted with a bludger.

Dani's heart nearly sank when she saw her opponent take a shot at the goals, and her eyes grew wide in astonishment when she realized the toss just didn't have the force behind it to slip past their Keeper. She was further amazed when she saw the Quaffle being tossed toward her. 'I got my shot,' she thought, 'I need to make it count.'

Like an American Wide Receiver (or at least the way they're supposed to), she fielded the malformed ruddy red spheroid and tucked it securely in the crook of her arm, her hand capping the 'nose' of the ball, before nosing her broom over into a steep dive and corkscrewing her way through a Split-S. In her zeal to prove her worth, she mistimed her pull-out slightly, and came out of the altitude displacing maneuver close enough to all but brush the grass of the pitch. However, she was successful in picking up a bit of extra speed, and was aimed in the direction of Team One's goals.

Hmm... let's see how the first year will handle a bludger.

Veronica frowned as Danica zoomed forward but it was not going to in time to dodge the bludger she had swung at the girl. It was a lighter hit than some, but she was aware she did have a pretty nasty swing on her and the first bludger hit was always one of the most painful. Watching in curiosity as the bludger made contact with the first year she wondered how well the girl would handle it.
