Guys get to subtract 2 because there are more women than men in the guild. So it's actually evening things out instead of being an "unfair advantage".
For a while, it was women add 2 while men subtract 2, but the women kept winning and in rather short order as well because there were so many of them and only 3 or so men. At one point, a lot of the men stopped playing altogether as it was utterly pointless because even if all the active guys got in their two posts for the day, it barely slowed down the women because there were over twice as many of them.
The amount of active guys in the game shifts from time to time, sometimes even being instances in which there is only one guy versus five or so women, but there is always a handful of active women so there hasn't yet come a point in which women are the ones who need a boost in order to prolong the game.
