Steel Sterling NEW question! === This is a NextGen question. Data was once concerned about the well-being of his cat, and asked one crewmember to catsit for him while he sorted out the odd dreams he was having. He gave extensive instructions as to Spot's care and so on. A) Who did he entrust Spot to? B) What did that crewmember promise to do?
Question, prepare to be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
A) He asked Worf to watch Spot for him. Worf picked up Spot and held him/her (Spot was male until the episode she had kittens) at arm's reach while Data gave instructions. Data told him Spot would need fresh water and a litterbox, and which feline supplement Spot preferred. "Also, talk to him. Tell him he is a pretty cat, and a good cat...."
B) Worf's entire answer to that last comment: "I WILL FEED HIM." Eventually, I found out that Data said something like "That should be sufficient." It took a while becasuse I was laughing too hard for anyone to hear the response. smile

Steel Sterling NEW question! === As you all may remember (from the episodes or the last trivia thread), Data once wrote a poem to his cat, "Ode to Spot." Give ANY of the lyrics-FROM MEMORY, no looking it up anywhere. smile -- Bonus for bragging points: what episode besides "Schisms" featured part of this poem, and who recited it?
Hell Yeah! I memorized this for an English test once! My teached was a trekkie... It ROCKED! I even memorized the correct spelling, although that took me Forever. Check it out!
Felis Catus is your taxonomic nomenclature, An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature. Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations, A singular development of cat communications That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents; You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance. And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion, It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotions.
Oh, Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display Connote a fairly well developed cognitive array And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
Oh, yeah, Bragging Rights! Riker recited the poem in the episode "A Fist Full of Datas," 'CAUSE THAT'S MY FAVOURITE EPISODE! BOOH-YAH!
