Leader Whitney
The bond Alex shared with his Eevee was clear, and Whitney had to smile at that. Perhaps she should try and find herself an Eevee after all. It was kind of funny to see the Eevee's embarrassed reaction though, clearly she didn't quite think of herself as a cute little pokemon. However, the friendly chit chat was soon over and the battle had to begin. Whitney had commanded her Lickitung to use ice beam in hopes that the Crawdaunt would be frozen and make this battle a lot easier, but she had no such luck, and soon the lobster countered with a Bubblebeam, which did a lot more damage to Whitney's pokemon than she'd expected, Lickitung even seemed to move a little slower after the attack, but was still able to get up and await their next attack. "Alright Lickitung, you're doing great! Let's show them just how tough we can be! Slam 'em!" Whitney commanded, and her Lickitung charged for Alex's Crawdaunt, slamming it's body full force into the water type and doing quite a bit of damage.

Sonoko still didn't like passing through or around Goldenrod but this was the only train station in out of out Johto that traveled to any of the other regions main stations. The city was large enough to help hide her but still her father was much to well known and respected for her to go completely unnoticed. She was sure he had been keeping tabs on her when she passed through the city or was spotted near by or just generally in Johto. The city was as it always was but she had seen every inch of it growing up here so this wasn't about sit seeing or tourism. She needed to pass through the bulk of the city and to the train station without drawing to much attention to herself It toke her more then an hour to pass from the norther gate to the station having to travel on foot. It was to much to eye catching to see a girl on a rapidash. when at last she made it to the station she had another half hour before the train would leave. When at last it did she was relieved to finally be out of the city once and for all.

This was his third gym battle, so at this point, he knew he couldn't make any mistakes. They weren't gym leaders for no reason. All of them had to be strong to be battling all the time. Alex definitely enjoyed the challenge and figured that Whitney wouldn't try Ice Beam again. His thought turned out to be correct as Lickitung slammed into Crawdaunt. This attack knocked the water pokemon back, but he had managed to keep his balance. Alex could tell that his pokemon was already feeling the effects of the two attacks. Despite that, he knew Crawdaunt could take it and was far from done. "Great job, hang in there Crawdaunt and use Bubble Beam one more time." Alex didn't want to give up this chance to strike, so he continued to push the attack. Even though he had taken a few attacks, he replied to Lickitung's attack by opening its pincers and sending a beam of light blue bubbles toward it. Once again the bubble hit the mark and just like last time, it seemed to slow Lickitung down. Alex watched carefully and at the moment, it appeared that Lickitung wouldn't be able to counter in time. This was it, the moment to defeat Whitney's first pokemon. He didn't like the idea of attacking twice in a row, but this was for a badge, he couldn't go easy now. "Looks like you slowed Lickitung down with that one. Lets finish it off with a third Bubble Beam." Crawdaunt was a little surprised by this turn of events, but decided to go along with Alex's words. For a third time, he opened his pincers up and sent a beam of light blue bubbles toward Lickitung. This time, the attack hit, but didn't slow the pokemon, it was enough to cause Lickitung to faint.

I might have used Double Hit, but I was confused on what my Muscle Band would do. It increases my physical damage by x1.1. Now, would that effect both of the hits. Oh... just looked at the calculation and it would be 77 damage either way. lol Well, I guess it might matter for other attacks that can do 5 hits. Anyways, I think I got my way of doing battles.

The first bubblebeam had slowed Lickitung down but it hadn't been enough to do anything, the second bubblebeam however, had slowed Lickitung down enough to render it practically immobile, allowing the crawdaunt to hit again a second time. "No no no no!!! That's no fair!" Whitney pouted. She was a bit of a sore loser unfortunately. With a sigh, she reluctantly returned her pokemon and took out another. Clefairy had just gotten groomed, so Whitney didn't want to use her if she could help it. "Whatever, it's fine, my Miltank is more than capable of handling your pesky crustacean! Stomp it flat Miltank!!!" Whitney ordered. Stomping her own foot in rage, as if she were the one stomping on the Crawdaunt.

Alex was glad to have been able to take down Whitney's first pokemon without having to switch. He didn't really like how Lickitung was taken down, but he had to take a gym battle much more serious than he usually would. It was good for him that Lickitung has been made slower and helped Crawdaunt keep up. Either way, Alex wasn't about to change pokemon just yet. Though, once he saw Whitney's second choice being her Miltank, he couldn't help, but grin as he was excited to take on such a strong pokemon. He had heard so much about her pokemon from the locals, that he really wanted to switch to his own pokemon he had wanted to pit against the normal type. His plans had changed somewhat thanks to Crawdaunt's performance so far. Alex couldn't even get his next attack off before the Miltank used Stomp on his pokemon. Miltank was defintely strong and as first, appeared to have beaten Crawdaunt. The water type had been knocked down to the ground, but managed to hang in there. It was clear that the pokemon was close to fainting as his breathing seemed much heavier. "Crawdaunt!... Are you okay to continue?" Alex asked, worried for his pokemon who seemed to want to stay in as he stood back up and prepared himself to continue.["This is... nothing... lets keep going."]With the courage his pokemon showed, Alex couldn't be more proud and choose to do as Crawdaunt wanted. "Alright then, I can't say no to that, use Double Hit." With that said, Crawdaunt used what little strength he had left to rush toward Miltank. His pincers both glowed white before he swung down at the normal type. Crawdaunt managed to strike once with each pincer and at least seemed to caused some damage.

Well, you have two options, I can roll to see who goes first and if you go first I can just tell you to post and have Wartortle attack, and if I get priority I could just post a general explanation of your wartortle being sent out and make my first attack so you don't have to make a post that only consists of a switch out, or you can roll for it and either tell me to go ahead and attack without you posting for the switch out if miltank gets priority, or you can make the switch out post, or you can post and attack if your wartortle gets priority. Still, it managed to get a double hit in on her Miltank when it should have been finished off already, and Whitney wasn't happy about that. "You've got this Miltank, Stomp it one more time and it's finished!" Whitney growled, her Miltank quickly knocking the pokemon down and out with a swift kick of it's hoof. "Finally, jeez." Whitney sniffed, looking rather annoyed with how long it had taken to bring the Crawdaunt down. It was embarrassing!

His pokemon had fainted, but the water and dark pokemon really helped out a lot and gave Alex the confidence to keep going strong. "You did great, Crawdaunt, return." He said before returning Crawdaunt to his pokeball. Alex switched the pokeball with another one on his belt and grinned a bit at what his next choice was. "I had planned on using this pokemon to battle Miltank. I heard she was your strongest, so I will fight with my strongest too." Alex was excited to see the outcome of the battle and sent his Wartortle out next. The water pokemon appeared, but it would seem that being the relaxed type of pokemon, it took her a few moments to realize what was going on. "Alright, Wartortle, I need you again. Try your hardest." The water starter looked back toward Alex before yawning, which was normal for her. Either way, she turned back to face the Miltank and at least looked ready to take on the pokemon.["I'll do what I can."]Alex knew that Wartortle was strong, despite her unique behavior. This was his first pokemon, so they did have a great bond like with the rest of his pokemon.

Whitney looked somewhat interested in what Pokemon Alex planned to use against her Miltank, since it seemed he'd planned this battle out a bit. She was half expecting him to send out his Eevee to battle finally, but instead a Wartortle came out. Well that was fine, Whitney was sure Miltank could hold her own, but it seemed this Wartortle was female, which ruled out one of their tactics; Attract. "I see! Well then we're just gonna have to get serious here huh Miltank? Let's start things off with a Stomp!" Whitney ordered, hoping to make the Wartortle flinch. Really it was the best option at the moment, because attract wouldn't work against a pokemon of the same gender, and rollout wouldn't be very effective against a water type. Unfortunately it seemed the Wartortle was prepared, and didn't flinch like Whitney had hoped. With a sigh, Whitney awaited the Wartortle's next attack.

Even though his pokemon was his strongest, Miltank was still faster and managed to land another Stomp. Wartortle took the attack and even though it wasn't enjoyable, she was able to get back up without much worry. That kind of move wasn't the most powerful she had received in the past. This time around, the water type was easily get back into the action and prepared for whatever Alex thought would be the best attack. "Nice going, Wartortle, I think we'll try the same strategy she used before. Use Ice Beam." He seemed to enjoy the fact that he used the first attack that Whitney had used on his pokemon. Alex knew how strong it was and was happy it didn't freeze Crawdaunt before. Either way, he hoped that this time it did freeze the target. Wartortle nodded her head before looking at the Miltank. She opened her mouth as a light blue ball formed. This sent light blue beams toward her opponent from the ball, threatening to freeze whatever it touched. The beam hit its mark and Miltank began to freeze.

Whitney puffed up in a pout in slight jealousy as the Wartortle used her earlier tactic with Lickitung but this time actually managed to freeze Miltank. It wasn't fair! Must've been beginners luck, or something similar. Miltank wasn't so ready to be beaten just yet though, hastily eating it's held Lum Berry to keep itself from being frozen, and soon began to thaw. "Nice job Miltank, now you don't have your Lum berry though, so you better make this Stomp count or else you're gonna be a Miltank-cicle!" Whitney commanded, willing her pokemon to really try and make Wartortle flinch. Perhaps it was the surprise that Miltank defrosted itself, or maybe it was because Miltank stomped so hard, but finally the Wartortle flinched at the attack, which would score them an extra hit.

Alex chuckled slightly as his Ice Beam worked correctly, but was thwarted thanks to the Lum Berry. This is why gym leaders were always so strong, they were prepared for this type of situation. Of course he'd have liked for the Miltank to be an easy target, but that just wasn't in the cards today. Before he knew it, the Miltank had used Stomp once more on Wartortle. This time, the attack must of hit its mark as it cause Wartortle to flinch in place. Just like he had done with Crawdaunt, Whitney followed up by having Miltank use another stomp. Alex was worried for Wartortle, but he knew the pokemon was tough. After being knocked down by the second Stomp, Wartortle was a lot more in the battle than her usual relaxed nature allowed. Either way, she got back up to her feet and was ready to strike back. "Hang in there, Wartortle, we're not done just yet, use Water Pulse." Alex said while pointing forward toward the Miltank, now that the Lum Berry was gone, she was vulnerable to other status effects. Wartortle was prepared and sprung into action as Alex told her what to use next. She opened her mouth as a ball of blue of energy in front of it. Wartortle fired a spiraling stream of water from the ball at Miltank. The attack hit its target, but it didn't seem to confuse her.

Alex felt like they were doing great, but from what he had learned since he started his journey is that nothing was ever going to be as easy as it seemed. After all the damage they had done to Miltank, she used Milk Drink. Whitney's pokemon looked as good as new, but Alex wasn't about to let this get to him. Now, he just wanted to try harder and was going to hope his next attack worked the way it did before. "Not going to make this easy on me, huh? Fine by me, Wartortle, lets keep hitting that Miltank hard, use Ice Beam." There was no way that either of them were going to give up at this point. Wartortle was prepared once more as a light blue ball formed in front of her mouth. Light blue beams were sent quickly toward Miltank, before slamming into the pokemon. Alex waited patiently, but unfortunately, the target wasn't frozen. He had been hopeful, but he might need to try something new the next time around.

Hearing Whitney reply to what he had said about not making it easy made him want to try even harder. Alex hadn't thought this was going to be easy from the start, but he did have confidence in his pokemon. There was no way that he could let himself lose now, not after what he had already gone through in the battle. Despite all that, he was still watching carefully and thinking of what his next move should be in this situation. Ice Beam hadn't frozen Miltank. He watched on as the Miltank once again landed a stomp attack, but Wartortle hadn't flinched and was prepared for what was next. Wartortle seemed to look tired, but even so, he couldn't take her out now, even though she was usually relaxed, he could see her determination. Alex looked on and then realized that Wartortle had an ability that only worked after taking enough damage. "Oh, that's right, okay, let's try it again, use Water Pulse." He said with a slight grin as Wartortle moved into position. Just like before, a ball of blue energy formed in front of her mouth. From the ball, a spiraling stream of water was sent toward Miltank. For some reason, the water move appeared to be larger and more powerful than previously. The attack hit its target, but once more, Miltank seemed to avoid any further effects, damn this pokemon was tough.
