"Some cards do work in newer setting, but older cards considered to be powerful at the time are not now. That's how power creep works. Monarchs work only because of the frog cards that came later they were decent before, but great now. If a card is powerful it should stay powerful (Blue Eyes), but even with the newer support blue eyes falls short. Older cards are still used I'm not denying that, but only because no better form exists yet. If a meta deck fades out of fashion not due to a banlist it's been a wrung on the power creep ladder. It's not that this old meta deck got crippled by ban, its just a better meta deck exists. Even if they were banned if they are later unbanned and they don't return to meta.it's because better alternative exist. "
