Olan's eyes opened completely as he heard Dustynn speak, and he stared at the floor with guilt. "I'm sorry. I was worried about you and I wanted to check and make sure something didn't happen to you." He eventually had to hide his face in case the gang leader was upset at him, although a part of him was sure that there was a very slim chance of that.
He heard Somuka still humming the lullaby despite Dustynn being there, and the song seemed to make him feel less guilty. His hands that hid his face eventually pulled away and he relaxed in the melody of the song.

Dustynn wrapped his arm around the young boy, pulling him closer to him. When Olan was close enough, Dustynn kissed him softly on the forehead with soft lips, even though the boy's forehead was a bit damp from sweat.
"Thank you for worrying about me." Dustynn murmured quietly, eyeing Somuka with a wary glance. "But you don't need to worry about me anymore. I can take care of myself... I think." He whispered.

Olan felt an arm snake itself around him and he was pulled close to the gang leader. When there was a small distance between them, a pair of lips softly kissed his slightly damp forehead. The remnants of his guilt were replaced by surprise and embarrassment and he blushed.
"O-okay then, if you say so," Olan replied to Dustynn's whisper. He let himself relax completely and a small smile decorated his face. Yes, he was very relieved that the gang leader was going to be all right from now on, but feeling at least a little concerned never hurt anyone.

The older boy's hand knotted itself in Olan's hair, pushing him down on the bed. His lips were still on his forehead, but they were slowly moving lower to his cheek, until they finally found the corner of the younger boy's lips.
"Sorry Somuka. You're not going to get your show today." Dustynn muttered, getting off of Olan with surprising swiftness and agility and began walking towards the door. "Oh, sorry if I frightened you or something." Dustynn smiled, walking out of his room and closing the door silently behind him.

Olan watched as Dustynn left the room, and he stared at the door for what seemed like years. His small smile widened a little and he rested his head on the pillow and closed his eyes so he could sleep.
Somuka's lullaby reached his ears again and soon the world faded. He felt ghostly hands running through his hair again, but this time there were three hands. He opened his eyes slightly and saw his parents standing there before he finally succumbed to sleep.

Dustynn landed softly on the couch next to Kaisin, who had a Royal Flush in his hand at the moment. Apparently, poker was the card game of the night, and it looked like Kaisin's luck was getting him a lot more than it usually did.
Three guns, two packs of cigarettes, and a cell phone. Not bad for a night's job. Dustynn could do better, but he wasn't in the mood to play cards, so he just gazed out the window with glassy eyes, watching the moon slowly move across the night sky.

Olan felt himself floating in the air, watching a family standing outside one of two towers of the same height and design. It was then that he noticed that the family was his own, and so he began gliding down toward them. Right there was a seven-year-old child who was caught, kicking and screaming, in an attempt to force him into the building by a little girl just two years older than him.
"I don't wanna go in there! You can't make me!" the boy cried, his nails futilely trying to latch themselves onto the pavement. His legs were being pulled at by his sister, who didn't seem to be using much effort into whatever she was doing.
"Now, Somuka why don't you leave your brother alone? If he doesn't want to come, he doesn't have to," said a woman with white hair and brown eyes.
The girl, Somuka, pouted a little and just continued to try to force the boy in. "But he has to come. I don't wanna leave him out here," she whined a bit. "Who's going to take care of him?"
"We've already called someone to take care of him, so don't you worry about it, Somu," said the voice of a man who seemed anxious to get inside the building. "He'll be fine."
Olan then realized what day this was. It was 9/11, at about an hour or two before the collapse of the Towers.

A bright flash lit up the window outside, which made everybody in the room except for Dustynn jump. If they all had been watching, they would have known what it was. Some kids were flashing their flashlights outside, playing police or a game like that. Dustynn used to play a game like that with his sister, but their mother had stopped them, knowing that their father was a gang leader.
Another flash back hit him as he watched the children play their game. His sister was flashing her flashlight covered with colored candy wrappers at Dustynn, making a "wheeeeooo-wheeeeooo" sound like an alarm or siren. Dustynn was laughing, running around with a small sack with fake money inside. "Come back here you punk!" Demitri said in a low voice, trying to sound tough. Dustynn only laughed and kept on running. Then he hit something hard and fell down, looking up to meet the stern face of his mother. "Dustynn..." She said quietly. Dustynn nodded, gave her the sack, then walked inside the house.
Dustynn couldn't understand why his sister never got in trouble for any of this. It seemed like it was always him, and it would always be him that would get in trouble. He soon came to hate his sister, resent his mother, and avoid his father point blank. The flash back faded, as did the lights outside.

The last thing Olan saw of his dream was his family disappearing into the building and then he woke up. There were lights flashing outside the window and siren sounds that soon disappeared, and he was sure that there were children outside pretending to be cops. He had seen them do this before, but they often just flashed lights at his window and screamed names at him.
Sometimes trespassers would break into his house and grab whatever they can only to return it all tattered or broken the next day. It always annoyed Olan to the point where he wanted to stay up and keep watch, but because of his age he knew it wouldn't do any good. The trespassers were usually older than or the same age as him, and there were always more than one, so he wouldn't be able to stop them anyway.
He was glad that it was all over now, though he didn't have any other place to live. Maybe he should find a job and an apartment the next day. After all, he probably shouldn't stay and live here. It just didn't seem right.

Dustynn finally disappeared into another room upstairs next to his. He wasn't about to sleep on the floor, since it was a hardwood floor, and he was sure that Olan didn't want to share a bed with him.
Finally placing the pillows in a neater order than their original position, Dustynn lay down and looked up at the ceiling. The light from the night stand threw shadows across the ceiling, making strange shapes and odd illusions appear. Dustynn used to enjoy this, but now it only brought back harsh memories that he would like nothing more than to forget. He quietly closed his eyes, and fell into a troubled sleep.

Olan heard the sound of a door opening and closing coming from the room next to the one here, but he didn't bother to find out who entered it. It didn't seem important anyway, so he once again closed his eyes to sleep.
There was once again a sense of loneliness and the darkness of the room scared him a little. He was glad that Somuka was here with him, or he wouldn't be able to sleep at all. Then a thought struck him. He hadn't heard the soft humming since he woke up.
Where was Somu? Was she still in the room? Olan looked around a few times, hoping to find a ghostly white figure or the soft flutter of butterfly wings, but he saw neither. Somu most likely decided that her visit was over, and now he was alone. Olan quivered a little in nervousness. He didn't want to travel outside the room or anything, since he didn't know the personalities of the gang members, so he just stayed in the room and hoped to fall asleep soon.

Lorin was annoyed. It was clearly seen on his expression as he thundered up the stairwell toward Dustynn's room. Why was he annoyed so? Because he had to wake his Boss up to tell him that they had disposed of the body. It was important news, but since he lost their little game of Poker downstairs, he was the one to tell Dustynn.
He could already tell what his leader was going to say. "Can't this wait 'til tomorrow?" Or something like, "Get the f-ing hell out of my room... now." Yeah, something like that. Lorin took a deep breath before he opened the door quietly.
"Um, Boss? Got some news... and they're good." He whispered into the dark room.

As the door opened Olan suddenly dove into the covers and tried to pretend he was asleep, but then he heard a voice. It wasn't Dustynn, but it wasn't a threat either. Upon hearing the word 'boss' Olan figured that the person in the room was part of the gang, but he didn't want to poke his head out from the covers just yet.
He suddenly shivered and wished that the door would close right then, since he wasn't at all comfortable with the gang member standing in the room. The dark room illuminated by light seemed to look like that of a horror movie to him, ominous and threatening.

"Um... Boss? I know you're in there." Lorin called out, walking over to the bed. The shape surprised him, since he had actually seen Dustynn sleep before. Dustynn was known for sleeping on his back with the blanket pulled to only his waist. Whatever was under the covers now had it pulled past his head, and looked somewhat curled up. "Hey... Boss, you okay?" Lorin asked, pulling the covers off.
He gasped and staggered backwards. He was looking at the shrimp that had walked in with Dustynn a while ago. Like, just today. "You're not Dustynn. Where the hell is he?" Lorin hissed, grabbing a knife from the desk.
"Lorin, put it down." a voice growled from the doorway. Dustynn was leaning against the door frame, shirtless, and his pants would have fallen off of his hips if he didn't have his belt on. "Lay even a finger on him, and I'm shooting a bullet through your skull." His eyes narrowed.

Olan gasped when the covers were suddenly pulled off him and he tried to scramble away from the gang member, who grabbed a knife from the desk so as to strike him. In panic he lifted his arms to shield himself, though he knew it would be nothing but a very weak barrier against the threatening weapon. Another thing he might be able to do would be to call for help, but the knife might get to him before he could even have a chance.
He had waited for a sharp, searing pain that would end his life or at least a cold blade that would be held against his throat while the gang member demanded answers, but to his relief he wouldn't have to experience that, for Dustynn had appeared just in time to stop the apparently angry gang member.
