All right. No boring US detective drama Shows (or Canadian/US Shows) or whatever on the Doctor Who thread. Everybody out of the pool. Phweeet!
Tight buttocks in red trousers or not, there's only room for geeky time travel comments and weird monsters in this thread!
(If you'd like to rephrase your comments in a more Dr. Who-oriented fashion, I'm sure some suitable accomodation can be arrived at. On the other hand, it's not like I'm an admin*, so all I can really do is complain.)
*Nor do I wish to BE an admin.
(Of course, if the Admins would like to lock down this thread now, that'd be fine, too. It's kind of run its course, eh?)

With the new season starting in the UK this Saturday, I think that it's got plenty more mileage in it yet. smile

Nuala With the new season starting in the UK this Saturday, I think that it's got plenty more mileage in it yet. smile *currently downloading the Who special from yesterday's This Morning* There's a Doctor special? Why wasn't I informed? smile That's something to search for tomorrow then. I think this thread will have to become a UK-only thread, unless the rest of the world particularly want spoilers - I can't see us being all quiet about what happens on Saturday night smile In the meantime, I find the 8th Doctor is growing on me. I bought an SFX special this week with a "free" Doctor book (one of the BBC novels) which was called "The Deadstone Memorial". It managed to combine a ghost story with a Who book - brilliant! I may have found yet another set of books to collect - and I haven't even finished with the 7th Doctor yet! DW

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the first 10th Doctor books're already on sale.
And if you like, I'll burn the AVI file to CD and bring it to Bristol with me. I'll PM you the link if you really want me to, but be warned that the file's 155MB.
I was in Rhyl yesterday morning, so I missed the show myself. But I've actually been keeping an eye on This Morning in general this week, since John Barrowman's co-presenting whilst Philip Schofield's on holiday.

Complaining is an artform really. Which, I suspect, is one of the reasons it's specifically banned in the bible. (Corinthians I, if I recall correctly.) In fact, from graven images to dancing, most artforms* are specifically banned in the bible, so that's neither here nor there.
Oh, and, as for spoilers, I don't think anyone over here in the US really minds if you get excited and spill a few beans. I knew the plots of all the Eccleston shows long before I saw them and I still enjoyed the stories.
I say, go ahead, tell us way too much. How do the other damn yankees feel about all this?
*I'll bet you could find a passage telling you that you shouldn't make TV shows, as well.

Harbone I say, go ahead, tell us way too much. How do the other damn yankees feel about all this? Considering I just spent the last half hour or so reading spoilers for the show at various websites, I say go for it! Heck, it'll save me the trouble of having to actively search for them. I just saw a bunch of screencaps someone made of the season 2 preview shown on BBCi. Lots of interesting stuff, including a glimpse of the Ood. I can't wait!!!

I'm cool with spoilers. To me, knowing something before hand doesn't ruin the experience of seeing it. My memory won't last through the gap. LOL! for example, I grew up reading all the Agtha Christie books, and Sherlock Holmes too. I have seen nearly every movie and tv series based on them. Do I ever remember an ending.... HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL no. rolleyes everyday is new world for me. mrgreen Spoil away!
I must say that I am really enjoying the new Dr. Who's. It still amazes me to see them with real special effects. heart

I have seen all of the shows released in America until the last few of syvester. I started with Tom Baker. Catira Norr VelouriaDS I liked the newest ones. Eccleston made a great doctor. And while the episodes did have alot to do with Rose, they also had alot to do with The Doctor. He is now the last of the Time Lords. It was very interesting to see the reasons why unfold, and to watch how he dealt with it all. Had to get used to a couple of things, like the way the inside of the tardis looks etc. But none of that really spoiled the episodes. In short, I ended up very happy with the whole thing. Yep, my friend keeps dropping hints about how they've made the Dr grow up and be responsible for his actions and "learn hard lessons" she says it gives the show a bit more depth (and I thought it was all about the monsters! rolleyes ). She's really raved about it. Can't wait to see for myself. He's the last time lord? What happened to the rest? LEELA!!!!! DAVID!!!! No Tom Baker is on BBC at this time now in "Monarch of the Glen". The Doctor was very grown up and responsible during his first life until he lost all but his granddaughter to the timelord wars. He need time to heal. Ambichan For some reason I hear Dr. Who and think of Dr. Strange. Whoopsey! sweatdrop So it really is a medical show? Never watched it. The Doctor is a Doctor in many sciences but not Medicine. AmberKatt bigdadio crying Fine - I'm suffering scarf-envy (mine is only 8 and a half feet long) POUT pout. I guess my succeptable mind was corrupted by watching the Prisoner in my formative years (Rover scared the crap out of me - and I always wanted Patric McGoohan's eyes). So, by the time the good Doctor hit Denver, I was ready. Pertwee and Baker were my fav's. As to sidekicks - aside from K-9 - Sara Jane has a slight lead. I have half of a 17-foot long scarf, but it's in storage somewhere.... I was knitting it off of the official BBC pattern, way back. But that was endless moves ago, and it is buried in storage somewhere. If I ever can excavate it, I'll finish it up. When Peter took the scarf apart was my most painful moment on the Doctor to that point. I did like the explanation as to why he wore the celery stick though.

The middle eight is back! Now to hunt down all BBC continuity announcers and burn their microphones...
Quite good, but I like the look of next week's episode better. Unless my ears deceive me, Mr Tennant is reverting to his Scottish accent, yay!
Quote of the week: Oh my God, I'm a chav!

Galangal Tom Baker is on BBC at this time now in "Monarch of the Glen". Oh how the mighty fall crying , not "Monarch of the Glen", that's almost worse than Worzel Gummage (actually, not that close, but pretty dodgy) Warnersister Quite good, but I like the look of next week's episode better. Unless my ears deceive me, Mr Tennant is reverting to his Scottish accent, yay! Does my Scottish heart good, now we just have to wait to see how long it takes oor braw American freends o'er here tae pit subtitles up! Personally, I'm all for spoilers... my poor old geezer mind will never remember them by the time they air in the USA anyway *toddles off to find her bible* There's a lot of dancing in the bible... definately not banned... mutter, mutter

Keen. Looks like Torrent is something to look forward to. My folks taped the next couple Eccleston shows on the Sci Fi channel for me and I'll be watching them this week (having picked them up when I drove down to visit this weekend. I'm pompous!)
By the way, I think Paul McGann did a pretty good job in the role of Doctor, I just didn't like some of the mucky bits they added to the US version of the show. A friend of mine reccommends McGanns' Doctor-on-Tape stuff wholeheartedly. But, alas, I'm very poor.

The two books about the 8th Doctor have really piqued my interest and I foresee another collection growing. I'm not done with the 7th yet, darn it! I need to win the lottery... DW
