Secrets of the Gate

Edward sighed and nodded. Wondering what this had to do with anything...

The earth mother grabbed him behind the head with ease tilting him downward towards the pool. "no doubt luna gets her attitude from me..." she mumbled. "look" she lightly touched the pool as Newton came forward.... "the path ahead of you will become increasingly challenging... up the mountain pass you will go..." she paused as she released him. a slight ripple moved through the pool as she touched the surface, images began to come clear upon the surface.

Edward gazed in wonder at the water images.
So many things were unlogical these days.

the earth mother went on. " throught the forest to the den of the beast..." the pool showed all these images as she mentioned them. the waved a slender hand over the pool. A new image apeared. " deep with in the cavern is the flower bed, but take heed young gatekeeper- there is only one way in and one way out...." she spoke ominously as they stared at the image of the, blooming, ghostly white flower bed. she then stood up and peered toward the mountains.

Edward held his head, too much was in it making it throb.

the earth mother turned back to edward. she smiled tenderly at edward, the same smile his mother gave him when he was little. she bent down, gently took his face in her hands and kissed his forehead. she then looked back at him and softly brushed his golden locks from his face. " Take care young gatekeeper, be safe, we may never know if we shall ever meet again..." she paused briefly then smiled again. " when you reach tha gate to amestris... do me a favor?" she paused again. " tell orin that Luna misses him greatly and that everything will be alright." she finished as she released him and stood straight again.
she kissed newtons forehead as well, and bid them farewell.
"remember the mountain pass!"

Edward flushed and nodded. He waved goodbye and started walking, deep in thought.

Newton nodded and followed edward. 'I hope orin isnt completly torn when we reach him..' newton muttered.

"yeaah..." Edward sighed and nodded.

'your still on that high she gave you arent you edward?' newton kind of snickered. ' she has that effect on mortal men.'

Edward snorted. "No!"
"Just trying to figure all this out..."

Newton kind of chuckled silently at him, and gave him a hefty pat on the back, almost knocking him over. he reached over and touseld his hair playfully- ' you'll get it, everyones a bit slow at first- its a mouth ful, i know'

Edward rolled his eyes and continued walking.

Newton hopped in a danceing manner in front of edward, trying to lighten his mood a bit. He stuck out his tongue- " strawberrie shortcakes!, NNnnnnnyyyyyaaaa!!" he taunted edward.

"w-wha..WHAT?! IM NOT A SHORTCAKE!!!"
Edward screamed and hit Newton over the head.
