Lately Iv'e been listening to the band called Keane. Pretty good stuff. But I really think that the beatles were the gods of music, and still are... But that's just me

YES! The Beatles were indeed the gods of music!

*salutes*

YES! Someone who agrees! Not many people in my group of friends can agree w/ me on that... it sickens me...

I most definitely agree with you! ^_^

Candy, why don't you point out to them that the music they listen to probably wouldn't even exist without the Beatles.

Yeah, you could, but that doesn't automatically make the Beatles good. Some of the bands I like were influenced by bands that I dislike, which is completely possible since what they're producing is different to what the bands I dislike produced, even if it was influenced. The Beatles had wide musical influence but that doesn't mean that they were good (although, they were).

Idlewild are my faves. Those poet rockers really brought literature into the world of overloaded guitars... biggrin

I'll make this quick:

The Beatles
Muse
The Cure
Peter Gabriel
The Sex Pistols
The Damned

I especially recommend everyone to check out The Cure, who are the current Gods of music.
Make sure to listen to more than their pop stuff, though.
Go listen to "Pornography", especailly "A Hundred Years"
Also, "If only tonight we could sleep" (title may be slightly wrong) sums them up, reasonably well.

The End of the World is my favourite at the moment, I was supposed to give the album back to Kate...about a month ago..

It's not British music, but I suppose you could argue it's a British perspective. Here's something I thought you may be interested in, recently for coursework a friend and I had to remix 'What's Goin' On' by Marvin Gaye.

You can find the result here.
