;c i hope you're able to get it up and running. maybe a second-
hand computer shop could help? or if there's a college near you,
you could go to the IT center and they might be able to help you?

sorry! i know not everyone likes getting advice when they're
trying to get something fixed, but i do hope you it running soon!

Well, of course, after getting the drive in ourselves, they were willing to work on loading on the os. :/ But the guy who spoke to us initially was not the one assigned to work on it, but said he'd personally handle this and started the process in front of us so, another day or two and I'll have a working laptop hopefully.
