It didn't take David long to find the snitch this time around. He'd been getting better so it really didn't surprise him. Although he wasn't going to let that take over. After all there was always a possibility that someone could always be better during a game. Following after the snitch David had a lot of time to think while racing after it much like he'd been doing all summer.

Maybe I did finally redeem myself enough? Then again, not a huge showing, maybe they are just desperate? Beaters do have some of the best chances of getting knocked out of the game... well, after seekers. I guess a lot of the old faces have left, come to think of it.

Veronica winced as she watched the bludger not blocked by Toby hit Leonette. Well, it might slow the girl down and Veronica knew by now from enough try-outs that Leo was sturdy enough to take a hit or two. She frowned as she scanned the pitch. What was Toby doing anyways? Of course, blocking bludgers was always a bit of a long shot even for the best of players. She noted that it looked like David had spotted the snitch and then she returned her attention to the other players, particular watching Team 2. Ronna couldn't help but admit she felt a little relief to see Danica, the first year who showed up late, took a spot as chaser. It would be less competition and the girl was keeping up with the other chasers.

Xavier managed to find himself in front of the posts with no difficulty. At least when he was close. He took a second to know where he'll throw the quaffle. Arching his dominant arm back, he feinted on throwing the quaffle to the left post, but instead threw it to the right one. Maybe he'll have a greater chance of earning a score? He took the chance.

Veronica smiled as she heard the familiar grumble of a nearby bludger as Xavier reached the goals guarded by Alex and made his throw. Well, it meant that it was only practical to take advantage of the bludger and swing aiming towards Alex. Maybe a bludger would help secure Xavier's goal-even a close call with a bludger could shake someone up sometimes. Something to be said about an iron ball flying towards you. Aiming she swung the beater bat at the nearby bludger aiming for Alex.

As David followed after the snitch he saw out of the corner of his eye Leonette getting hit by Ronna. 'That had to hurt...' he thought as he shook the thought away. She had to bounce back from it that's all and knowing his cousin she would. Keeping his eyes locked on the snitch David followed it closing the gap between him and it.

Toby was more than happy to be able to turn his aggression onto the chasers. Poor them. He lined up a shot at Xavier, gritting his teeth as he'd swung. He'd practiced this summer.... with regular old tennis balls, apples, anything round he could get his hands on. He hoped some of all that swinging had helped.

Veronica watched as the quaffle went in and then noted the swing from Toby as he aimed towards Xavier. She smirked, focused on the game, and dived ready to make the gamble to block the hit from Toby. After all, that was the most important part of being a beater in her opinion. They needed to protect their teammates the best they could. And, Xavier was her teams best chaser probably. If she made it in time she planned to hit the bludger towards the first year, Danica, on the other team.

Alexandria kept her eyes locked on the quaffle which bounced from chaser to chaser. It had gotten kind of boring, really. Nothing much had been happening until Xavier managed to dodge the other chasers and shoot the ball towards her goalposts. The throw had been powerful. The quaffle seemed to pick up speed as it flew towards the left goalpost, but that didn't stop the thirteen year old from doing her best to grab it before it could go through - even if that meant being hit in the gut.

Alexandria flung her body over to the left goalpost to try and block the quaffle with her corpse, but she was a second too slow, and the shot went in. Not a moment later, a bludger whizzed by her head. Dark eyes locked on Ronna, but quickly narrowed onto the quaffle which fell towards the ground. It was probably best to ignore the blonde as much as possible and continue with the tryouts. After flying down to pick the quaffle up, Alexandria tossed it towards Danica. Although she was a newbie, she could get in some practice. Plus, she was the closest chaser on Alex's team, and she wasn't Rosabella.

Rosabella blinked as she realized what had happened. But.. how?! She was so close; how could Xavier have dodged that?! Even as one of the more experienced players, he seemed to have trouble avoiding the twelve year old. His shot, on the other hand, went in. Rosabella waited for Alexandria to fetch the quaffle, but instead of passing it to her, she passed to Danica. It wasn't like Bella really expected her step sister to toss it to her anyway, so the chaser stayed by the first year's side, open for a pass.

Veronica failed to reach the bludger in time to block and redirect the bludger to save Xavier and gritted her teeth in frustration as she watched as Danica kept hold of the quaffle. She closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. She wasn't on her best game, not today, though all things considered it was obvious that Toby (at least to her) he should take the second official beater spot, after all, he had been on the team longer and he was a decent beater. And, judging by the bludger he had just hit doing a whole lot better than her. It was a strong hit.

Maybe she was off because despite the fact she had been to batting ranges, had even worked out a bit, she had a stressful summer. A lot was going on in her mind. And arguing with Theo at the sorting feast hadn't given her anything less to stress over. She took a deep breath as she watched the chasers for a few moments.

Leonette already this soon out of the gate lost the quaffle and got hit with a bludger. Then to make matters worse Xavier scored… This just wasn’t her day. Regardless Leonette shook off the hit and went back to the game she couldn’t give up now. Seeing Alex pass to Danica she flew over by the girl hoping to back her up if need be. There was still a lot of try-out left.
