*sigh* IN Arizona, there is a law that makes it where you can use the words of another to convict someone, even if there is absolutely no physical evidance other than hearsay. So, this kid, who was basically mad at my dad, who stopped giving him cigarettes, decided to accuse my dad of molesting him. However, we had lots of evidence saying it never happened. Hell, my SISTER was there on the night of the alleged molestation. But because our lawyers were jackasses and never talked to my dad, he didn't know what evidence we had. And our public defender was in bed with the Prosecution, and convinced my dad to give up. So, based solely on this kid being an a** and accusing my dad of this, my dad was forced to plead guilty to Attempted Child Molestation, and while having to serve a year in county jail (infinitely worse than a prison) which was given optionally by our judge, my father will have probation for the rest of his natural life.

I'm aware. Its one of the reasons I'm waiting for her to be 18 before I go see her. It was the first concern I had when my dad was arrested.
And, Haku, its impossible to prove yourself innocent here, basically. He wanted HOME. They originally told him they'd give him 5 years probation and no jail time. But, as you can see, that changed after he was convicted. He was willing to prove his innocence, but to his mind, stuck in that hellhole, it just seemed so impossible.
Arizona is the most backwards state there is. Hell, did you know the state can convict you without a complaining "victim"? Hell, they're STUPID! There's a guy in there right now who is 80 years old. He can't walk without a walker, or some sort of heavy support. And he supposedly raped a 16 year old girl.
