I usually point out to people who beg that I have it blatently displayed in my signature that they won't get anything. Usually I'll try to help them be better gaians by teaching them a few good ways of getting gold, but if they are rude to me, I just won't PM them back anymore.....
I've only ever actually blocked one person in the entire time I've been on gaia, and they really deserved it.

I would recomend it. It at least keeps my inbox down to only about once a week, or once every other week instead of frequently.
