Each state does have it's own rules though, so what is illegal in some places might be pefectly legal in others, so it's not like I can quote laws or anything like that and be 100% sure they would apply. *sigh*

I suppose that since in MA the ASPCA is the MSPCA, for VA it'd probably be the VSPCA...? you should talk to your mom about contacting them... ._.

Sulhir He shot her because she sprayed... crying crying crying That is just sickening.... a spritz with a water bottle would have been more than enough. *Sigh* ASPCA Stands for the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, so it applies regardless.

*opens door - falls in. Reads a few pages behind* I agree with both Kitsoru and Lurichan on this one. I would look up animal rights for the state of Virginia; could very well be illegal. I might add; shooting an animal for no apparent reason - spraying is not a good reason - is considered animal cruelty. There are other options such as having the cat shipped to you or puting it up for adoption. What he did - and I use he liberaly - was inexcusable. I don't care if he is your father - it is wrong.
Sound like a real ****. Before I let my words get me banned - I am going to stop there.

Both genders spay when they feel the need to mark their territory. I'll have to say there are a LOT of other options. Frankly kicking the cat out and letting her fend for herself would have been kinder. She could have been dropped off a the local shelter, she could have been given back to her rightful owner, any number of options really. There was no reason for violence against the poor kitty.

Normally only adult intact males spray. She also sprayed, but it was a recent developement. She also is an outside cat. I sent the e-mail to my mom. I'll tell her about the illegal part. There's really no point in going legal over it. It's not as though I'll get anything out of it except alienating my parents and more debt. My eyes are sore sad
