Okay this is so weird, but it was my first time buying a BL manga and I was at Borders, so I go up to the front counter with the book "Man's Best Friend" and I get stuck with a younger man, about 20 or so and I put there and the first thing he says is "Oh, you have to be 18 or older to buy this book!" and them I am all like Holy s**t, so then I go and say that I am not, the guy breaks out in laughter and looks at me. He is all like "Oh, like I could care less about what you read, and if you want another good one, go get Black Knight." I am now standing there, laughing, I am so confused, but it is just too funny, the dude had just recommended a BL manga to me. I end up buying the book and my cousin gets me Gakuen Heaven later, but I was really nervious when I first went up there, cause just tell me that this isn't a obvious that something is wrong with this!

i'm only 16 but i look much older i've bought many books with out being stopped, but of course the one time i was stopped my mother had been standing at the cashire next to mine, bad day. since then i only buy bl by myself and i love seeing other poeple in th manga section wiht bl books. i always feel guilty when i pick up a book like mans best friend and there are either kids who stare or poeple who give me mean looks, i'v even once hada cashire shake her head at me and give a disaproving look, that was terrible. but i still read those boks and proudly draw my own bl storeis! suck on that mean cashire lady! scream

I go so often to buy yaoi/shounen-ai at barnes&noble that person behind the counter knows me by name, recomends some to me, and tells me when the next ones in the series are going to be in or if they aready have she will go get them for me.Occasionally, i'll meet a few yaoi/shounen-ai fans.Once, i went to books a million and i met at least 4 yaoi fans. it scared my friend who took me there.

I work for Borders Express and I buy everything, Yaoi, Erotica, M/M Romantica, I've even bought porn for my rommie. All my co-workers know I love Harry-Draco fanfic and that i love reading M/M things. In all truth be told most booksellers don't care what you get, we have our own dirty habits. We'll actually help you out. And some of us will embarrass the crap out of you if you're embarrassed about what you're buying. But trust me, the people who do care about what you're buying don't last long so you never have to worry. And next time your in the Manga section looking for Yaoi, I recommend J-boy and Gorgeous Carat! There is nothing "intense" about Gorgeous Carat, but it's a great story, and J-boy is a bunch of stories, some are just cute and others may leave you hot and bothered. Never be afraid of what you're buying. Embrace the Yaoi, skip to the register, plop down the book and grin wildly, that my scare the checker more then the book. If it doesn't scare them, you just made a new friend. LOL. See you in the Manga section! ninja

Homans, Super_Cy, you work at Borders you lucky fangirl ;__; Does that mean you get discounts?
I could use discounts. 22 bucks for a manga is a bit too much ;_______;

I remember i was reading Boy Princess, Loveless, and Gravitation in Barnes & Noble one day and i was trying so hard to not let anyone see. Then i heard my mom's voice somewhere and i started scrambling to put them all back. I wish i could meet other BL fans (boy or girl). It would be nice to not be alone 3nodding

me and my mom and all my siblings went to Borders for the first time together a couple of months ago. i went instantly to the manga section and started reading loveless. my parents have "banned" anime and manga at my house because it's "bad". but i don't give a care. i get it wherever i can.
anyway, i read an entire manga (loveless 2) and i moved quickly away because i didn't want my mom to catch me there. i didn't care if people saw me reading it. personally, i don't think anybody there really understood the spirit of anime and i was mad because they were posers. scream

I remember the first time I was looking for my first Yaoi I was at waldenbooks and I was looking in the mature section. Well anyways The lady their was looking at me and she says: Are you old enough to look at that section because you have to be 18 or old to look at them? and I told her that I was old enough to look at the books. Well I found a manga called Desire from DMP publishing and I went to the counter to buy my purchase and she asked me for an id to make sure I was old enough. So I showed her my drivers license to show her I was indeed old enough to buy the book and then after that she let me buy the book.

Another time I was with my mom and my aunt and they let me stay in waldenbooks for a few hours while they went clothes shopping and I found the Yaoi manga I had been looking for called Golden Cain. So I got really excited and I wanted to get it but I didnt have any money on me so I decided to do something I normally didnt do which was ask my mom for the book and she said yes. So after we went out to eat we came back to the mall and she gave me 20.00$ so that I could buy the manga. The only thing is that I didnt have my liscense with me but thankfully the cashier didnt ask for it and let me buy the manga I wanted which was really cool.

I don't usually buy manga. I borrow them from friends or family because all my money goes to school, but when I do go to the bookstore, I look around. I really don't care what people see me picking up. If they have a problem, they can just move along.
