Once Scarlett got her pokemon back, they made their way to the cafeteria to eat and restore some of their stamina. Scarlett herself wasn't all that hungry though, taking time to check with Cypher on their current inventory, making note of what new items they had gained, and making sure nothing, other than the items they had used, were lost. Mako had taken her three remaining mushrooms, so those were gone, she had Cypher make note of the items she had taken off of that idiot swimmer, though speaking of which...
"Poseidon." Scarlett called the Piplup over, who perked up and waddled towards her. "I hope you haven't had too much to eat, because I've got something for you." She held out two of the rare candies she had confiscated, and Poseidon took them curiously before nibbling at them both until they were gone. He felt a lot stronger now! "Piiplup~" He chirped happily, sure that the candy had helped him a lot, giving that extra boost that he needed. With that, she allowed him to finish his meal, and as soon as she was done checking inventory with Cypher, she had her crew finish up before returning them all to their pokeballs, with the exception of Poseidon. It was time....

Now that they were fed and refreshed, Scarlett figured they were ready to go. She stormed her way over to the gym and burst in, ready to put a hurting on whatever poor sap stood in her way of catching up to Zak's level, "Oi. I'm here to challenge the gym leader, an' I swear if 'e don't come out in three seconds--" Scarlett growled, but it seemed her threats were unnecessary, since Roark soon came out to answer her call. "Wa-hoh, slow down there. No need to rush into a battle with a clouded mind." Scarlett looked at the excavator before her. The whole gym seemed to be modeled after a digsite. That was was strike one. "Believe me, my path has neva been so clear." She sneered, taking a pokeball in hand. "Send ya pokemon out now, or I'll have mine attack you instead, savvy?" She growled, and Roark blinked in surprise. Well, this woman was certainly more than unfriendly.... How unfortunate.
Frowning, Roark sent out his first pokemon, an Onix, meanwhile Scarlett sent out Mako. Feeling a need to demolish Scarlett for her aggressive attitude, Roark held nothing back. "Onix, use Tackle!" He commanded. The large rock snake roared and slammed into Mako, but the little shark pokemon didn't so much as flinch. "Ice Fang." Scarlett scoffed, and Mako retaliated as such, quickly incapacitating the Onix. Now Roark was afraid. He sent out his Geodude next, hoping to get a little more damage. though Rollout would have been super effective against this apparent steel type, it took to long to build up in power, time that they didn't have. it would do more damage at this point to use a less effective move like rock throw at this point, so that's what he had his geodude do, though like the Onix before him, it was quickly wiped out by the vicious ice fang that Mako possessed. The battle wasn't over yet though! Roark still had his Cranidos, which wouldn't be knocked out with an ice fang, but Scarlett recalled the weary shark pokemon and instead sent her Piplup out.
From what Roark had observed, Scarlett's pokemon were offensively strong, but didn't have much endurance if that steel shark was tired after being hit with only two attacks that weren't very effective. This Piplup was likely in the same boat. "Take Down." He commanded his Cranidos, who slammed into the little Piplup hard with it's thick skull. At first, it seemed like the little water type was down for the count, however, slowly but surely, Poseidon struggled back to his feet. "P...Pip....!" He refused to fail any more! Scarlett didn't even have to tell him what to do, he shot a powerful Hydro pump in retaliation at the Cranidos, knocking it out immediately. Scarlett was satisfied, now that she'd beaten someone as strong as a gym leader to a pulp. "A'ight, skip tha speech. Where's my badge?" She demanded.

Scarlett rolled her eyes as Roark still apparently couldn't help but mutter his congratulatory speech under his breath. She didn't care. Scarlett took her badge and disks and quickly went on her way, not wanting to waste another second in this stupid city while Zak was off who knew where, doing who knows what. If she wasn't in such a hurry though, she definitely would have stuck around to bully Roark even more for doing what she had specifically told him not to do. Even if the speech was more angry muttering, he'd still done it just to spite her, or at least that's how she felt. She snatched her prizes from the rock type specialist and turned away without so much as a 'thank you'.
At least he gave up his prizes without a fuss, she half expected to need force, but she was glad she didn't. Made things quicker and easier on her end. She left the gym and walked away, though Poseidon was having some trouble keeping up with her. "Ah... Yea, sorry, here I'll fix ya up neu." Scarlett murmured, tone a lot gentler now as she knelt down and brought out some potions. Now that Yuki was finished with the trainer battle, it was probably a good idea to try and battle more wild pokemon. Since they were only about halfway into the cave, it was simple to just carry on walking deeper into the cave. His eyes looked toward Houndour who followed along next to him, clearly not worried about what they might encounter. "That was a tough fight... taking on the gym might be difficult, but I think it's worth a shot." Yuki said, clearly having no issues talking to his pokemon. Houndour was happy to hear Yuki's words, that he wasn't scared to take on a gym, even though he was a fairly new trainer.["I like the sound of that. I'll battle anything you want."] Houndour said, clearly now scared to take on any challenge. Yuki smiled a bit, before pushing his scarf up over his mouth. He wasn't the type that smiled all the time, so this wasn't anything new. Either way, he was still glad to have Houndour at his side.

Officer Jenny would be sooo mad at me, Riley thought to herself as she followed Kuraz out of town and into the woods. But Riley had decided she was going to save her pokemon herself, no matter what. "Kuraz, wait!" She called out for him to stop, since where they were looked as good a place as any to train. "Here," Riley said, pulling out one of two incenses from her backpack. "You just light it like this," Riley said, demonstrating as Kuraz walked closer, "And pokemon will come." She sniffed. "I think this one attracts ice types. Want to try it?" Kuraz rubbed his wrists. "Okay. I want you to try something. Use your aura to sense as soon as they arrive, and then strike them." If they were fighting Mael, it couldn't hurt to practice aura.
It took a long time for anything to happen, Kuraz and Riley waiting while the incense's scent spread. Then, finally, Kuraz's eyes snapped open and he fired an aura sphere into the bushes. Riley ran out to see, and sure enough there was a fainted sneasel there. She quickly caught it so she wouldn't miss if Kuraz took any more pokemon out.

The sneasel's pokeball had barely stopped rocking before Riley heard a rustle and a squeal. Riley picked up her new pokemon and ran toward the noise, but couldn't see a thing. Kuraz looked like he was concentrating, so it was up to her to hike through the bushes looking for what he had struck. She almost tripped over her quarry, a small brown swinub. Riley caught it quickly, worried it had taken her so long it might wake back up.

When Riley returned to the clearing, Kuraz was standing. "Kuraz, what's- holy Arcy! How is that possible!?" A giant pokemon, a Lapras, was pushing its way through the forest towards them. Kuraz recovered from his surprise and took the lapras out, but he was grumbling angrily at himself when he sat back down. Riley caught the lapras and looked for some explanation how it got here, but couldn't find anything around it. Maybe these pokemon are coming down from the mountains? We are pretty close...
