"I was joking." He heard the woman call Bernadette something else but didn't comment on it. He was also curious as to how the woman knew his name. "Just came to get some tea real quick." He shrugged. "Already finished off what I got yesterday." He knew he was lying but he didn't want to sound like he was just inviting himself over for dinner, thinking it would be rude.

"Of course..." She smiled sweetly again and sent her granddaughter off to retrieve it. "Do you have any plans for dinner dear?" She asked. She liked the two of them together.

"Bubbee..." Bernadette said quickly as she came back with his tea. "I'm sure he has other plans for the evening." She of course knew he didn't but she wasn't going to make her match making easy.

"Oh yes. I just thought it would be nice to have a new face over for dinner."

He looked over at Bernadette with a slight smirk at hearing her comment, wondering what she was trying to pull. "Actually I don't. Living by yourself tends to give you a bit of free time."

"Oh wonderful. You'll come home with us and eat."

Bernadette could tell her grandmother was delighted. She wrapped the tea in a bag and told him what he owed.

"No no... a gift." She told him and put the bag in his hand.

He already pulled out the money for the tea and was a bit surprised when her grandmother just put the bag in his hand. "Um, thank you. Are you sure though? I can pay for it."

"No, I insist. A gift for you." She closed his hand around his money. "You keep your money, buy something special.... for someone special."

Bernadette closed her eyes at this comment of her grandmothers. This was the woman's way of asking if he had a girlfriend or was even interested in anyone in town.

"If I had someone like that I might. There's always my sister, but I don't think that's what you're talking about." He admitted to her, knowing that he was probably doing exactly what Bernadette didn't want him too.

"Oh I'm sure your sister would love a present from you." she looked over at her granddaughter with a smile.

Bernadette pulled on her cloak and draped her grandmothers shall on her. "We should get going Bubbee." she wanted the looks and talk to stop for a moment.

"Oh your right." She now had a small jump in her step and scooted the two young ones out of the shop.

"Perhaps, but she is more of a tomboy. Not sure how she'd act to something like that." He shrugged. "I'll find someway to spend it." He said with a nod as they left the shop.

She just smiled and started to walk ahead of the two.

Bernadette walked a little slower. "Sorry about that. I told you she gets a little excited about it." She spoke softly, hoping her grandmother wouldn't hear.

Alex shrugged and gave her a quick smile. "Nah, don't worry about it. I think I might have to get you something now though." He said putting his hand to his chin, as if thinking about it.

"No you don't.... why would you say that?" Bernadette panicked slightly. She didn't need that floating around as well. And she was sure her grandmother was going to be on high for days with this dinner alone.

Alex couldn't help but laugh at her reaction to his comment. "Well doesn't she expect me to it now? Hmm... maybe a necklace or something." He smirked slightly, at this point just trying to torture her.

"Oh now your just getting me back for biting you earlier. You don't have to get me a thing." She scowled a little. "If your going to buy anyone a necklace, make is Bubbee." She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Oh come on, don't be like that. I'll stop." He said putting a hand on her shoulder. "Though I would think most girls would be happy to have someone give them something."
