^ Yup. There is succession, but for vampires (assuming that's who you're talking about) it's like... the general public can vote on who they want, but the final decision belongs to the Queen. So, Zaylie basically picks who. Vampires can't reproduce so they can't really have a "royal family". Just a government.
< Is listening to Senses Fail and actually really likes them. Surprising.
