I'm pretty damn sure that TropicalKumquats is a scammer because they just told me they'd do the layout for an item bribe worth like 1mil. BUT that I'd have to send the item through gifting TODAY since it's a new account and they can't get trading pass til tomorrow. I think this sounds like SCAM CITY and I'm half tempted to report.

I'd do the layout, depending on what you want. But I've done some cool stuff in the past, and I'm generally good at working with people to get what they want (I've been working as an illustrator lately). I would probably want some sort of small payment, but that'd prolly go right back into the ball or getting my mule's items for the ball, so that'd be good, right? smile

It's not bad. I think I'd still like to play around with it. The text is REALLY hard to read, though, and because of that one light spot on the photo, you can't make it white. So there are three options: 1) Pick a new picture so you can actually read the text that's there, 2) Pick a different text color (something that'd stand out), or 3) Move things around so that you can change it to white or grey and avoid the light spot. But really, if you want me to see what I can do (I'd even draw some cool vine things for some of the borders), I'd still be very willing. Maybe 5k-10kish, depending on if you like it? I'm going over to the library today, where hopefully I'll have a scanner, so I could even get some stuff up by tomorrow. What do you think?

One thing you could try would be to do kind of a border on the text. Either white text with a black border or vice-versa. That's always worked for me whenever I get that problem. ^^

Aoi- Go for it. I'm gonna keep working on mine and then we've got two to pick from. I'm thinking at this point I'm not willing to order a layout, because I've asked like 30 artists from all over gaia and the best offer I've gotten was 80k. stare People want to charge extra to animate and stuff like that, when I tell them WE DON'T WANT IT they just don't listen. stressed

I'm pretty sure we can come up with a good layout on our own. I'm really sad the original artist didn't work out, but now at least I know next time I'll need to get a back up layout.

As for my layout, I'm thinking about adding a second picture of a pond or lake or path or bridge or something to the left and moving the main header to the right since that image is the only good darkish forest thing I could get and it seems oddly spaced to me...gonna keep playing with it since we have a week or so. I'm in a summer camp (was planning on having things done earlier so I wouldn't have to resort to any desperate measures but clearly that's not working so well) and I'm in another one next week but I will have lots of free time Saturday night and Sunday morning to finish stuffs up.

I'm thinking that since I can't figure out how to make the text keep to the right of the icon and the left of the sidebar without moving the icon down, I'm going to make more icons like that we can put below for longer posts. One every like 4 lines or something.

And for the text, I can't figure out how to put a border around the text because I'm using GIMP and I can't figure it out that well. I'm going to go ahead and lighten the picture and see if that works. The only thing I really find difficult to read is the D & E in Divine and the H in the first The.

Also, I got on the mule and bought about most of the prizes on the front page (some were on a little price rise and have gone way down so I'll get them tonigh), but I'm also considering playing some BG on that account to add some gold prizes to the art, writing, and avi contests...
