Well would you want your kid to be playing bloody first person shooter games where the buttons simulate a trigger? I would when their like 14, before that their stuck with sesame street and teletubbies.
We weep for your children. If you plan on overreacting like that you might as well bar them from all games and entertainment.

When I was young - a looooooooooong time ago - I used to play Duke Nukem 3D waaaaaaaay before I was legal of age to play it. And it didn't affect me in any way. Not the violence! Not the swearing! Not even the strippers!

Duke Nukem 3D at age 8, maybe 9
GTA3 at age 11, and every GTA since soon after launch.

I'm fine.

I think how skittish we are about violence and sex is funny as all hell. Especially how anyone that looks a little different from the "norm" and plays games gets blamed for stuff here. I've been into all sorts of violent games, for as long as I can remember. I'll admit I do have a violent streak, but is that because of the games I play, the music I listen to, or the movies I see? NO! It isn't.

I think though that playing these games may de-sensitize people when it comes to violence. I certainly don't think the same way about firing a gun at someone than I did a few years ago.

I think that just comes with age...

Yeah, a scary thing called "growing up", you'd be amazed what it can do to you. I know I am a completely different person.

In gaming news, I played the Turok demo on the 360 and poor controller scheme and early piss-poor level design aside, it is quite fun, if only to savage dinosaurs with a large knife. You can kill almost anything with that knife, even the big and friendly herbivores that mean you no harm. This game could very well answer that hotly debated topic of "What killed the dinosaurs?" Was it a meteorite? No. Was it Gawd? No. It was a mohawk toting muscle commando with a big a** knife and a neck the size of a truck tire.

Actually, I hope that CNN discovers the sexual encounters in the Witcher: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/2831-Zero-Punctuation-The-Witcher

Watching that seemed to temporarily relieve my stomach pains.

I'm playing through Mass Effect for a third time now, to reach level 60 and while still on the Citadel I've found out that by taking the elevators and just running around instead of using the fast travel terminals you will get most of the side quests either through elevator newsreels or from NPC's who see you passing by and think you important enough to bother.

I'm on my way to Ilos on my second profile. I have to say, both of my characters were beasts, but my current one kills people by looking at them. I can run through a whole base shooting off my assault rifle from the hip and I would take everyone out no problem. I think perhaps I will play as an engineer or adept if I decide to go again.
Oh, and what the ******** do I have to do in order to get those ally achievements?

Play through most of the game with two set allies. Which means, not switching and taking different allies each mission. I played through the game the first time with Kaiden and Williams, I got the achievement somewhere around that research facility in the ice, which I played as the last one leading up to the grand finale.

edit.

Why did I not get it then? I played with Wrex and Tali the whole game, and I didn't get them.
I think they could have made a better looking medal for such a great feat.

That woman who called Mass Effect bad things and said that women were pornographic material in it has said "sorreh" after it became clear that she hadn't played through the game.

Oh that silly whore! She's doing just like Jack Thompson, who also spouts s**t while not playing through the games to find out if his claims are viable or not. Jack did claim that Tetris was the WTC attack training software recently.

He thinks that those al-qaeda bastards were just playing tetris in the desert for all those years?
I read that EA challenged Fox news about it and demanded they put facts instead of guesswork on the news. The say that the game requires you to develop complex relationships before it happens. All I had to do was say I liked someone and they jumped on me. I did think it was funny though how the news was saying you can partake in "Graphic digital sex" when it's far from graphic. EA was quick to point out that it didn't include anymore nudity or content than Fox network prime time shows.
