It's considered to be an "Americanized Anime". (Or at least that's what I call it XD) But nonetheless, it is an anime- or at least anime inspired

I thought it was going to be so stupid...and then I watched a five episode marathon during the first season and fell in love with it. Now I'm an addict. biggrin
