I've heard alot of people lately asking what Athiesism is..most think its a bad thing. There is a stereotype that Athiest people have no morals because they believe in nothing. That is not true. We have morals, we just don't believe that they should be set by someone we haven't even seen. We are just normal people who don't care about religon. Its not like we're gonna kill someone just because we can. I mean, come on! Lots of serial killers killed their victims "in the name of God." That is a load of s**t. No one should kill anyone in the name of someone. We shouldn't let someone who doesn't have the guts to talk to us control us through a book. We should let ourselves control our actions, not a "god".

You do realize that every code of morals that humans have ever passed down through the generations have been spawned by religions, right?

I have morals, or at least think I do.
I'm atheist.

From wikipedia:

Atheism, defined as a philosophical view, is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods[1] or rejects theism.[2] In its broadest definition, atheism is the absence of belief in deities, sometimes called nontheism.[3] Although atheists are commonly assumed to be irreligious, some religions, such as Buddhism, have been characterized as atheistic.[4][5]

I am Athiest and i believe mostly in science and believe the bible is just a book that someone very persuasive got someone to follow but thats just my opinion, but when people tell me I am going to "hell" for not believing in god i just laugh because while they are praying i am in a classroom studying about history and learning we started from microscopic particals and were not place on earth by god. But thats just me, I am no one to tell you that religion stinks, I do live by morals but none of them include a god. And being Athiest doesn't mean i am a bad person, I just chose not to worship anyone but myself. thats my opinion.

Athiesm can also give you a sense of freedom. Religious people always do things for their religion, like taking time out of their day do go to a church to pray to someone who may not even exist. And they spend time building churches for worshipping their gods. If you believe in a god, shouldn't you be able to worship him from your own house? Since Athiests don't believe in that really, they aren't controlled by all those things that define the religion...

And why the heck do people wage wars in the name of their god? The Crusaders in the name of Christ, the Terrorists in the name of Allah, the Egyptians in the name of Osiris? Why?

There Holy Wars. They believe that they are fighting for a just cause and in the name of their God.

They want to please their Gods and work for them so they fight for them.

i am not atheist but i don't have a problem with people who are. i think i'm one of the few who are like that though... i guess it's only because i'm not really into my religion either. i accept the things my religion believes, i just don't force them out into people and to the world. i like keeping it to myself because i've seen so many arguments start over religion and i think it's stupid. especially the holy wars... i think people should just stick to what they believe and shouldn't let others down that don't believe the same thing.

Yes, of course they have, it made us feel like we were pleasing our God, and that's what everyone did long ago. If they didn't believe in the god, they were banished or executed.

In other words, we're all followers of something.

im also an athiest because i've found interesting things about the bible. i've read a lot, and began to notice certian things that didnt quite make sense. the bible seems to contridict itself. in the story of adam and eve, as you are well aware o f, im sure, says how the two people had two sons by the names of caine and abel. when caine kills abel, do u notice how he didnt know what he had done. he didnt know he had killed because it had never been done before. so how did he know how to strike abel's head to kill him? and towards the end, caine, in fear, tell his mother how he does not want to be exiled because he is scare "They" or "The Others" out there will kill him. if it was only, adam, eve, caine, and abel. who are the others that he was refering to? and the mark that god placed upon him, why doesnt the bible speak of that?

ugh, remember once they left that damn garden they were able to sin, but also they had little knowledge, cain was jealous of abel so he smote him, it's like when you were littel and said a swear word without knowing it
and still little kids who kill today may not know what they were doing, but they still suffer the consequence.

and one again they don't' have much knowledge theres lots of things that could be out there that the referred to as them, or the others, gorillas could be mistaken as humans too, it's human flaw

Actually Buddhism, which predates modern morality and Christianity doesn't have Deities, its an ideal of which one attains self improvement and inner peace, through a strong moral code. Ergo Morality, isn't dependent on theism.

hmm. i have some relativily good definitions of what atheists and agnostics are

Agnostic: A person who looks at the world and wonders how any god could create such havoc, but looks at the world again and wonders how it got here. They decide they dont know if any god exists.

Atheist: A person wh looks at the world and doesnt believe any god in any bible could force suffering like what is happening now. They see the hunger and hat and they decide they dont think any god exists.

Hmmmm. I really focused on the bad in life, didnt I. I dunno, they sounded better before i typed them out.

Atheism (from my point of view) is neither a good or bad thing. Its just a religion. And from what I have heard it is a having no believe in a higher power. However they are still open to believe a higher power if it can be prooven to exsit.
