Does anyone else, ever feel, their image, is so iconic among friends and family, that to change it, would be to change yourself, for example, I have a very strong image, people, friends, family all remember me and could never imagine a change to my image, its quite funny when I say to people 'I'm gonna go get me a hair cut' and watching the mass hysteria ensue. Its even to the point, where is I did change my image, then I doubt people would recognise me, or would completely stop talking to me, as they feel my image is ingrained as a part of me.

Does anyone else find this? Is it a problem? Is it a blessing? Would you change your image? and what do you think the reaction would be if you did?

I can never stay with one look so I don't know how to answer that question.

Its really more for people who like me have had the same look for about 7 years and how people react when you change that look, even slightly, if you regularly change your look, it doesn't really apply. smile

If I wear a skirt on any day but a Sunday, everyone goes into shock. Not sure if this applies.

Does anyone else find this?

yes! especially when like.. I find a new fashion, change the way I apply makeup, do my hair etc

Is it a problem?

yeah, Kinda... gets quite annoying..

Is it a blessing?

far from..

Would you change your image?

if I really needed to.. Like for work. I would have to remove almost all of my piercings (about 12 of the 14), 100% change my wardrom, and stop coloring my hair crazy colors....

and what do you think the reaction would be if you did?

My friends might look at me like Im totally crazy o.0

This is like the opposite to my problem. No matter how much I try to change the image everyone just looks at me the same way. I've given up styled hair, makeup, crazy coloured stockings and strange outfits and I'm still like the dumb immature baby of the group with her sulky alter ego.

Mmmn.. I didn't mean for that to sound so angsty. I sort of like being the baby most of the time. Sounds stupid but when everyone in the group has their unspoken label you can't help but feel welcomed and needed. Sometimes it's just bothersome knowing you can try really hard to seem different and no one will think you've changed. It's a problem and a blessing.

I know what you mean! The other day I wore flats for the first time in my life and two of my friends shoved me away, It was so stupid I just left them. Though I hate flats those were so shiny and red I couldn't help it biggrin

Yeah, image is the craze with people nowadays to the point where it is the only thing important to people. I hate being the same damn thing day in day out like everyone. So I decided to dye my hair red and cut certain parts and wear kick a** band sweaters that are out of norm just to have the sense of, yeah I'm different. I wear my rainbow band to show pride and wear stuff no one dares to. I'm a rebel and wouldn't change it for anybody...
