Every AC/DC-fan will kick me for this. :L
But anyway, Manson's cover from "Highway To Hell" is just much much more better than AC/DC's own.

I usually severely dislike covers myself sweatdrop

Though, I do love Bauhaus' Ziggy
Lacuna Coil did a half decent turn with Enjoy the Silence *fan of Lacuna, huge fan of the Mode, liked the metalling up of the song 3nodding )
Sister's 1969 is great ^^

Hm, must listen to some on Gil's list *bounces around net*

Can we slag off bad covers too? For fun and gripes?

I highly suggest Nouvelle Vague. They do nothing but covers. All bossa-nova style covers of punk, post-punk, and goth-rock.

Atmosphere - Corpus Delicti - Joy Division
Personal Jesus - Marilyn Manson - Depeche Mode
Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus - David Bowie. I actually don't care much for the original version....
Sally's Song - London After Midnight (from Nightmare Before Christmas) = heart .

Though I don't usually listen to metalcore outside of Chimaira, I like Killswitch Engage's cover for Dio's "Holy Diver". Which reminds me, Chimaira's live cover of "Reigning Blood", by Slayer, was in my opinion better than the original.

Cradle of Filth's cover of the Sisters of Mercy song "No Time To Cry", and the Misfits song "Death Comes Ripping". Pretty much their only songs I like. Their cover for "Hallowed Be Thy Name", by Iron Maiden, was a bastardization.

Orgy's "Blue Monday" cover was good too.

Jack Off Jill's "Love Song" cover was good.

And one of my favorites, L'ame Immortalle vs. Fr!ek - "Make A Star"(Dope Stars Inc.).
