This year I made a resolution to make this year count, really count, improve my art skills. I want to pursue art as a career. I don't know where I want to go in art but I know I what to learn.

If you see that I need to work on somthing (which would be just about everything), let me know, tell me to do something like draw 'x' and I'll do it post it. :D ...

Crit-wise, it seems to me like his chair is off balance. Maybe move the vertical stick thing to the left a bit? Also, the girl's legs are really skinny, though that could just be on purpose. >>;

Umm, yeah, the chair does look off. XD;;; I kind of did make her skiny on purpuse but it couldn't hurt to add some meat on her bones. : )

Um...For painting scenery, I always find it best to just start really basic.
It looks like you work with oC, so...o.o

Depending on what you're doing, I'd say divvy the canvas up.
...Hard to explain without images. xD;
But yeah. To be simple...For a starry night meadow, just start by doing maybe two thirds of the canvas in a dark blue [not too dark], and then the bottom third in a darkish green.
I find, for doing skies, that it's really best to actually sort of...Make the corners and border a darker colour and blend inwards, it draws the eyes into the picture and makes it seem more focused.

I hope this was some help, atleast. n__n;; I hope it was what you were even asking about, actually. o__o; If not, just feel free to ignore.~
I'm still learning how to do Cging myself, so. ^^;

If you're doing a picture that doesn't have a drawn background, always paint the background first and do the shading and whatnot before moving onto the line-art.

His chest bothers me a bit...I think it's his n****e.
You've got the right one so far over, so if they were symetrical, the other one shouldn't even be showing.
Also, her hand seems to be disappearing into mid-air...?

For the doodle--His mouth looks a bit long [on our right], but I suppose that makes it look a bit stylized. Doesn't really need changing.
Humm. His left brow seems to go down a bit too much...Since it's at a more sharp curve compared to the other brow, along with the rest of his expression, I assume he's arching his brow in a mocking sort of way?
I'd lift it up a little more, and ad a few crease lines to show the muscle/skin compression...Not sure how to say it. Prolly didn't make much sense, but eh. ^^;
It's very good for a doodle, I especially like his hair and his expression. :3

You sketch with the watercolour brush, now?
If I may ask, how do you clean up your sketches?

I use oC1.1, it has a pencil/pen tool which I use for sketching. For cleaning up I use white with the same tool or redraw on another layer.

And on another note completely. I do commissions on gaia, don't think much of it, I just draw the character and I'm done with it. ... but when it comes to art trades or fanart... I lock up, go blank. ;_____; I doubt theres an answer to this. :////

i love the way you draw faces a lot, and the poses are really creative too :3
i can't critique much, but on the first one [the swively chair one XD], the arm closest to us on the girl [your avi?] kinda goes to no where, like you should be able to see her hand from the other side of his leg, but it isn't there.
and on the latest one, his hands are a tiny bit small, but i'm sure that's not a problem rather than my ignorance about how big the hands should be sweatdrop
well yea.... that's all i could really think of =]

I'm thinking about just moving her hand to the other side of his leg. The way it is it's kind off creepy anyway. u___u;;; I donno if I'll ever go back and fix it though. 8'D I'm really bad like that.
